• Jordan Romano (elbow) resumes playing catch
Jordan Romano (elbow) has resumed playing catch.

Advice: It qualifies as a step in the right direction that Romano was able to resume throwing, albeit light catch, over the weekend, after being shut down last week due to renewed right elbow soreness. The 31-year-old veteran stopper is going to have to build up his throwing program basically from scratch again and is probably going to be out through the upcoming All-Star break. • Three more hits, including walk-off
Duran went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 7-6 walk-off win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Duran figured prominently in the come-from-behind win, in which Boston scored five times in the final two innings. Thanks to a miscommunication by Toronto's left side of the infield, his eighth-inning popup fell to the ground for a double followed by David Hamilton's two-run home run. An inning later, Duran produced the walk-off run with a single. The outfielder has multiple hits in five consecutive games (12-for-23) and has hit safely in 14 straight. Rotowire.com Today, 6:19 am

  • Fernando Tatis Jr. (femur) out until second half
Fernando Tatis Jr. expects to be sidelined until after the All-Star break because of his right femoral stress reaction.

Advice: And not just until immediately after the All-Star break, either; this will likely be at least a six-week injury for Tatis. Bryce Johnson will fill in for now, but the Padres need to go get themselves an extra outfielder as soon as possible. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:27 pm

  • Duran has three hits including game-winner Monday
Jarren Duran went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, a double and an RBI against the Blue Jays on Monday.

Advice: Duran capped off the Red Sox’ comeback with a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth that scored Ceddanne Rafaela. It was another big game for Duran, who had three hits including a double and also scored twice. On the season, he’s hitting .293 with an .843 OPS and 37 RBI. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:55 pm

  • Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) shut down for a week
The Dodgers are shutting down Clayton Kershaw for a week to address the soreness in his shoulder.

Advice: An MRI detected nothing new in Kershaw’s surgically repaired shoulder. If the soreness clears up quickly, he still might rejoin the Dodgers not long after the break. If it continues to linger, the Dodgers might wait and try to aim for a September return. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:37 pm

  • Stress reaction sends Fernando Tatis Jr. to IL
Padres placed OF Fernando Tatis Jr. on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 22, with a right femoral stress reaction.

Advice: That’s better than a stress fracture, but it’s not great. The Padres will likely go to Bryce Johnson in right field most days, but he’s not going to replace Tatis’s production. Tatis was hitting .279/.354/.468 with 14 homers in 345 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:54 pm

  • Lands on IL with quad injury
The Padres placed Tatis on the 10-day injured list Monday, retroactive to June 22, due to a right femoral stress reaction in his quadriceps.

Advice: Tatis missed the last two games with a triceps injury after being hit in the left arm by a pitch Friday, and he will now be sidelined with a separate quadriceps injury. His stint on the IL would line up with a return in early July, but it's possible the 25-year-old will be held out longer than that until perhaps after the All-Star break, per Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune. Tatis is slashing .279/.354/.468 with 14 home runs and 36 RBI over 345 plate appearances and an .822 OPS. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:44 pm

  • Fernando Tatis Jr. to land on IL with quad injury
Fernando Tatis Jr. is going on the IL with a slight stress reaction in his quad, according to manager Mike Shildt.

Advice: That’s another big loss for the Padres offense, especially given the alternatives in right field. The Padres are bringing up Bryce Johnson and likely will give him a lot of playing time for at least the next couple of weeks. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:32 pm

  • Shut down for one week
Kershaw will be shut down for at least one week after feeling soreness in his surgically repaired left shoulder during a bullpen session over the weekend, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Kershaw underwent an MRI, which didn't reveal any new damage to the shoulder, so the hope is that this is just a minor setback. He had been slated for his second rehab start Tuesday, but that will be delayed indefinitely. Kershaw was still several weeks away from a return even before the setback and now any timetable would be approximate. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:24 pm
