• David Fry picks up three hits in blowout
David Fry went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in a rout of the Athletics on Thursday.

Advice: Fry drove in his run in the ninth with a sacrifice fly in the ninth that cemented a strong showing for the 28-year-old catcher. While he normally is behind the plate, the right-handed hitting backstop was the DH for the opener with Alex Wood on the mound, and he was one of several Cleveland hitters able to have a quality evening against an ineffective Alex Wood. Fry’s ability to hit lefties is intriguing, but he should remain off the fantasy radar for now. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago

  • Jonah Heim drives home game-winner in extras
Jonah Heim went 1-for-5 with an RBI single in the 10th inning to give the Rangers a 4-3 win over the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: It was the only hit of the game for Heim, but it was a big one. With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 10th, the backstop singled to drive in Josh Jung and give the defending champions a victory in the season opener. The 28-year-old switch-hitter drove in 95 runs while registering a .755 OPS in 2023, and he’s expected to see the majority of time behind the plate for Texas again this season. There are far worse fantasy options than Heim for those that didn’t draft a catcher early. Rotoworld Today, 8:00 pm

  • Bats second in season opener
Jeffers started at catcher and went 0-for-5 in Thursday's Opening Day win at Kansas City. He hit No. 2 in the lineup for the second time in his career.

Advice: Jeffers didn't do much in the season opener, but his position in the lineup against a left-handed starter shows the team has confidence that his second half showing last season was a sign of things to come. Jeffers surged at the plate last season with a career-high .858 OPS and a .928 OPS in the second half. He's expected to split playing time with Christian Vazquez as the Twins like to give their catchers rest. However, Jeffers could get the majority of starts. Rotowire.com Today, 7:51 pm

  • Makes Opening Day roster
Bart (hamstring) made the Giants' Opening Day roster but didn't appear off the bench in Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Bart tweaked his right hamstring in a March 22 Cactus League game, but he was able to play in both of the Giants' Bay Bridge Series exhibition games against the Athletics on Monday and Tuesday to guarantee his availability for the start of the season. He's opening the season as the Giants' No. 3 catcher and is unlikely to see much playing time behind Patrick Bailey and Tom Murphy. Rotowire.com Today, 7:27 pm

  • Brewers designate Eric Haase for assignment
Brewers designated C Eric Haase for assignment.

Advice: Haase has been removed from Milwaukee’s 40-man roster after failing to land a spot on their season-opening roster. There wasn’t much of a path for him this spring with both William Contreras and Gary Sánchez in the fold. Rotoworld Today, 6:55 pm

  • Lands on IL
The Blue Jays placed Jansen (wrist) on the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Advice: With Jansen on the shelf to begin the season, Alejandro Kirk will take over as the Blue Jays' clear No. 1 catcher, while Brian Serven was added to the 40-man roster and will serve as Kirk's understudy. Jansen sustained a small fracture in his right wrist March 15 but could soon resume baseball activities, at which point a clearer target date for his season debut might come into focus. • Hits IL to begin season
The Pirates placed Grandal (foot) on the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Advice: Grandal hasn't yet resumed running since experiencing plantar fasciitis in his left foot earlier this month, but once he's able to do so, he should be ready to head out on a rehab assignment. Manager Derek Shelton suggested early in spring training that Grandal would begin camp atop the depth chart at catcher, but the skipper's comments came before the 35-year-old was slowed by the foot injury. With that in mind, Grandal may not be guaranteed the No. 1 catching gig once he's activated from the IL, especially if Henry Davis gets off to a hot start to the season. • Rutschman notches two hits, two RBI in win
Adley Rutschman went 2-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored in Thursday’s Opening Day win over the Angels.

Advice: He drove in a pair with a single in the second inning. Rutschman also drew a walk, so he reached base three times on the afternoon. The 26-year-old is the No. 1 fantasy catcher at this point and he might very well find himself squarely in the AL MVP conversation after finishing ninth in the balloting last year. • Sitting Thursday
Naylor isn't in the Guardians' lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Naylor will take a seat for Opening Day as southpaw Alex Wood prepares to toe the slab for Oakland. Austin Hedges will get the nod behind the plate instead and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Today, 2:06 pm
