      Advice: Riley hit an RBI double in the first inning before hammering a two-run homer in the second. It was just his fourth homer of the year and first since May 3, snapping a 23-game drought.     • Luis Gil defeats Red Sox to improve to 9-1
      Luis Gil picked up his ninth victory of the season on Friday night, limiting the Red Sox to just one run on four hits over his five innings of work.

      Advice: Gil racked up six strikeouts on the evening while allowing four walks. The lone tally against him in the ballgame came on a run-scoring double off the bat of Enmanuel Valdez in the fourth inning. Otherwise, he was locked in and able to make big pitches when he needed to in order to escape trouble. Gil generated 13 whiffs on 104 pitches in the contest — nine of them on his fastball — while posting a CSW of 26 percent.       Austin Riley went 3-for-4 with a home run, double, three RBI, and two runs scored against the Rays on Friday.

      Zack Littell imploded on Friday giving up six earned runs in just two innings against the Braves. He struck out two, walked one, and took the loss.

      Advice: Littell unraveled in the first inning as the first five Braves that came to the plate got a hit with four going for extra bases. Then, he committed a shockingly bad throwing error on a swinging bunt by Adam Duvall and was yanked after the second inning. His ERA rose from 3.63 to 4.24 in this disastrous start.       Thomas went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer in Friday's 8-1 win over the Marlins.

      Advice: Thomas provided the big blow in the Nationals' seven-run third inning, cranking a three-run homer off Shaun Anderson, his fifth this season. The 28-year-old outfielder extended his hit streak to eight games -- he's gone 10-for-29 (.345) in that span.       CJ Abrams had two singles, a double, a walk, two RBI, and a run scored in a win over the Marlins on Friday.

      Advice: Abrams started the game with a double and notched two hits in the Nationals’ seven-run third inning. He’s trended down some since a torrid first few weeks of the season but still carries a solid .257/.308/.489 slash line with 11 home runs and 10 stolen bases on the season.       Advice: Thomas has once again been a dynamo this season in the heart of the Nationals’ order. The home run was his fifth in just 40 games - a 20 homer pace - to go along with 16 stolen bases.       Rockies placed C Elias Díaz on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 11, with a left calf strain.

      Advice: The 33-year-old backstop tried to take things on a day-to-day basis, but ultimately the Rockies thought that it would be better to sit him down for an extended period of time to allow him to fully heal.       Advice: The dynamic 26-year-old has been sidelined since April 29 due to back and knee issues, but is finally ready to return to the Rockies’ lineup.
