  • Astros activate Dallas Keuchel from 10-day DL
Astros activated LHP Dallas Keuchel from the 10-day disabled list.

Advice: He'll jump right back into the rotation on Saturday against the Orioles. The left-hander has been outstanding this season, posting a 7-0 record, 1.84 ERA, 0.86 WHIP with a 54/14 K/BB ratio in 63 2/3 innings. Today, 11:56 am
  • Cardinals designate Socolovich for assignment
Cardinals designated RHP Miguel Socolovich for assignment.

Advice: The right-hander has struggled mightily out of the Cardinals' bullpen this season, registering an 8.68 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 14/4 K/BB ratio over 18 2/3 innings. Given how well he pitched the previous two seasons, he could attract interest on waivers. Today, 11:30 am

  • James Paxton set to return on Wednesday
Mariners manager Scott Servais confirmed Saturday that James Paxton (forearm) will return from the disabled list to start against the Rockies on Wednesday.

Advice: That had been the target date all along and Paxton was able to avoid any setbacks in his recovery. The left-hander has been sidelined for nearly a month due to a strained forearm. Before landing on the shelf, he registered a 1.43 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 45/11 K/BB ratio in 37 2/3 innings across six starts. Today, 11:11 am
    10-Day DL
  • Rangers place A.J. Griffin on 10-day DL
Rangers placed RHP A.J. Griffin on the 10-day disabled list with a left intercostal strain.

Advice: Griffin suffered the injury during Friday's disaster of a start against the Blue Jays. There's no clear timetable for his return at the moment, look for him to miss at least two starts though. Today, 11:02 am
    10-Day DL

  • Cesar Hernandez returns to Phillies lineup
Cesar Hernandez (groin) returned to the Phillies' starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: Hernandez sat out Friday's game due to a minor groin injury, but he's right back in there and atop the Phillies' lineup for Saturday's showdown against Bronson Arroyo and the Reds. Today, 9:58 am
  • Avisail Garcia plates three to lead White Sox
Avisail Garcia went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI as the White Sox topped the Tigers in their series-opener in Chicago on Friday.

Advice: Garcia got the White Sox on the board, delivering a bases-clearing three-run double in the third inning. He's in the midst of an outstanding season, slashing a robust .341/.385/.576 with eight homers and 37 RBI. Yesterday, 11:55 pm

  • Matt Davidson clubs ninth homer in win Friday
Matt Davidson clubbed his ninth home run of the season in Friday's victory over the Tigers.

Advice: Davidson blasted a solo homer off of Blaine Hardy in the sixth inning, increasing the White Sox' advantage to 4-2. He also singled, finishing the night 2-for-4. He has been a nice addition to the lineup this season, slashing .257/.305/.541 with nine homers and 24 RBI. Yesterday, 11:53 pm
    W, 3-0 vs Det ; 2:40 pm vs Det
  • Mike Pelfrey fans seven in win over Tigers
Mike Pelfrey punched out a season-high seven batters over five innings in Friday's victory over the Tigers.

Advice: The veteran right-hander allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk. He had struck out just 11 batters through 29 2/3 innings on the season entering play on Friday, so the strikeout explosion came out of nowhere. With this fine effort, he now owns a respectable 4.41 ERA and 1.21 WHIP on the season. He still isn't a recommended fantasy option for Wednesday's start against the Red Sox. Yesterday, 11:51 pm
    W, 3-0 vs Det ; 2:40 pm vs Det
  • Alex Wood improves record to 6-0
Alex Wood allowed two hits and two walks over five scoreless innings in a win against the Cubs on Friday.

Advice: Wood struck out eight batters in the 91-pitch quality start, improving to 6-0 while lowering his ERA to 1.69. The southpaw also extended his career-high scoreless innings streak to 25 1/3, longest in the majors this season. Injuries have kept him from reaching his potential in the past, but he is 100 percent healthy this season and enjoying the best start of his career. Yesterday, 10:34 pm
  • Carlos Martinez strikes out nine in loss
Carlos Martinez yielded three runs in 7 1/3 innings and struck out nine Friday in a loss to the Rockies.

Advice: That's a fine Coors Field outing for Martinez, but there was no run support to be had tonight. It was the second time this season that the Cardinals have been shut out in a Martinez start. They've averaged 3.6 runs per game in his start, which is why he has a 3-4 record to go along with his 3.32 ERA. Yesterday, 10:02 pm
  • Jean Segura goes 3-for-4 in loss
Jean Segura had three of the Mariners' six hits in Friday's loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: He had their only extra-base hit, a double off Eduardo Rodriguez, and a stolen base. He's batting .346 to date. The only disappointment is that he's just 6-for-11 in steals. Yesterday, 9:43 pm
  • Perez has two hits, RBI single in loss
Hernan Perez went 2-for-5 with an RBI single in Friday’s extra-inning loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Perez made the start in left field and batted third with Ryan Braun (calf) back on the disabled list. The 26-year-old was a valuable piece in fantasy leagues last year and is batting .274/.314/.479 with five home runs, 19 RBI, two steals, and 20 runs scored through 42 games this season. He’s in a great situation in this lineup, so he’s worth considering in mixed fantasy leagues as long as the playing time is there. Yesterday, 9:31 pm

  • Ramos converts fifth save of season
A.J. Ramos needed just one pitch to covert his fifth save of the season Friday against the Angels.

Advice: Kyle Barraclough began the ninth inning with a five-run lead, but he gave up two runs before Marlins manager Don Mattingly brought in Ramos to face Mike Trout with one on and two out. He got Trout to fly out deep to center field to end the ballgame. Ramos was coming off a couple of shaky appearances in non-save situations, but he has converted all five of his save chances this season. Yesterday, 9:07 pm
  • Straily gives up three runs in win over LAA
Dan Straily yielded three runs over 5 1/3 innings in an 8-5 win over the Angels on Friday.

Advice: Straily was pulled after giving up a two-run homer to Martin Maldonado in the sixth inning. He struck out six and walked a pair for his second straight victory and now sits at 3-3 with a 3.83 ERA and 54/24 K/BB ratio in 54 innings across 10 starts. He has an appealing matchup against the Phillies up next. Yesterday, 9:07 pm
  • Yelich (hip) has three doubles in return
Christian Yelich (hip) went 3-for-3 with three doubles, a walk, and two runs scored in his return to action Friday against the Angels.

Advice: Yelich didn’t play Wednesday after leaving Tuesday’s game with right hip flexor tightness, but he should be good to go moving forward. This was his first multi-hit game since May 12. Yesterday, 9:06 pm
  • Griffin leaves start with intercostal strain
A.J. Griffin was lifted from Friday's start against the Blue Jays due to a left intercostal strain.

Advice: The good news, is that it isn't the dreaded oblique issue. It sounds as though this could still force Griffin to the disabled list though, or at the very least to miss one start. He has been clobbered in each of his last two outings and isn't a recommended fantasy option anyways. Yesterday, 5:19 pm

  • AJ Griffin leaves start with apparent injury
A.J. Griffin was forced to leave Friday's start in the second inning due to an apparent injury.

Advice: The tram trainer came out and looked at Griffin's side before he was lifted. Before leaving, he did some damage to the ratios of his fantasy owners, serving up a grand slam homer to Devon Travis. Look for an update on his status shortly. Yesterday, 4:55 pm
    10-Day DL

  • Cesar Hernandez nursing slight groin injury
Cesar Hernandez is not in the Phillies' lineup Friday due to a slight groin injury.

Advice: It's something that's been bothering him a bit of late, although it sounds like he'll probably be back in there Saturday. Andres Blanco is handling second base Friday. Yesterday, 1:27 pm
  • Christian Yelich (hip) returns lineup Friday
Christian Yelich (hip) is back in the Marlins' lineup Friday.

Advice: Yelich hasn't played since exiting Tuesday's game with right hip flexor tightness, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go in this one. He's in center field and batting third against Jesse Chavez and the Angels. Yesterday, 11:50 am
  • Yelich (hip) expects to avoid the 10-day DL
Christian Yelich (hip) said Wednesday that he expects to avoid the disabled list.

Advice: Yelich exited Tuesday's game with right hip flexor tightness and he is not in the Marlins' starting lineup Wednesday afternoon in Oakland, but the issue is not believed to be serious. Marlins president Michael Hill echoed Yelich's optimism. Consider the center fielder day-to-day. Wednesday, 11:02 am
  • Avisail Garcia (flu) back in lineup Wednesday
Avisail Garcia (flu) is back in the White Sox starting lineup Wednesday afternoon in Arizona.

Advice: He'll start in right field and bat fifth against Diamondbacks right-hander Randall Delgado after missing Tuesday's game with a mild case of the flu. Garcia boasts a .971 OPS with eight home runs and 34 RBI over 43 games this season for Chicago. Wednesday, 10:40 am
    W, 3-0 vs Det ; 2:40 pm vs Det
  • Yelich (hip) out of Marlins lineup Wednesday
Christian Yelich (hip) is out of the Marlins' starting lineup Wednesday versus the Athletics.

Advice: No surprise after he left Tuesday night's game with a right hip flexor injury. Yelich is considered day-to-day for now. Marcell Ozuna is in center field, Tyler Moore is in left field, and Ichiro Suzuki is in right field on Wednesday afternoon at Oakland Coliseum. Giancarlo Stanton is serving as the Marlins' designated hitter and will bat second against A's right-hander Sonny Gray. Wednesday, 10:13 am
  • Yelich day-to-day with right hip flexor issue
Christian Yelich exited Tuesday's game versus the Athletics with a right hip flexor injury.

Advice: It's unclear when Yelich suffered the injury, and it seems like he was lifted for precautionary reasons. The Marlins are listing him as day-to-day. Yelich had a single and scored a run in five plate appearances Tuesday before departing. Tuesday, 11:10 pm
  • Avisail Garcia out Tuesday night due to flu
Avisail Garcia is out of the White Sox starting lineup Tuesday due to the flu.

Advice: It could be a multi-day absence for Garcia, who's off to a tremendous start in 2017. Willy Garcia is starting in right field and batting seventh Tuesday night against Diamondbacks left-hander Patrick Corbin. Tuesday, 3:22 pm
    W, 3-0 vs Det ; 2:40 pm vs Det
  • Keuchel (neck) planning to return on Saturday
Dallas Keuchel (neck) plans to return to the Astros' rotation Saturday against the Orioles.

Advice: That's the first day he's eligible for activation from the 10-day disabled list. "I feel a lot better," Keuchel told reporters Tuesday. "The plan is still the same ... good for Saturday." The ace left-hander was 7-0 with a sensational 1.84 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and 54/14 K/BB ratio in 63 2/3 innings before going down with a pinched nerve in his neck. Tuesday, 3:12 pm
  • Avisail Garcia scratched from ChiSox lineup
Avisail Garcia has been scratched from the White Sox starting lineup on Tuesday night.

Advice: No word yet on the reason for the sudden change. Willy Garcia is now starting in right field and batting seventh versus Diamondbacks left-hander Patrick Corbin. Tuesday, 2:36 pm
    W, 3-0 vs Det ; 2:40 pm vs Det
  • Cesar Hernandez goes 0-for-4 in loss
Cesar Hernandez went 0-for-4 in the loss to the Rockies on Monday.

Advice: Pete Mackanin has been doing a lot of lineup rearranging lately, but one thing he hasn't tried is taking Hernandez out of the leadoff spot. Hernandez has cooled off after a strong April, but he still seems like the right choice at the top now, even if he has hit .193 in his last 15 games. Monday, 7:44 pm
  • Davidson picks up pair of RBI singles in win
Matt Davidson went 2-for-4 with two RBI singles in Sunday's win over the Mariners.

Advice: Davidson worked an RBI single as part of a five-run first inning and later came through with another RBI base knock in the fifth. The Mariners figure to be happy enough to see him leaving Seattle -- during this weekend's four-game set, Davidson wrecked the M's with six hits in 16 at-bats, including two home runs and six RBI. Sunday, 4:11 pm
    W, 3-0 vs Det ; 2:40 pm vs Det
  • Paxton (forearm) shooting for May 31 return
James Paxton (forearm) is hoping to rejoin the Mariners' rotation on May 31 against the Rockies.

Advice: Paxton threw 37 pitches Sunday in another successful bullpen session and is slated to make a rehab start with Double-A Arkansas on Friday. Assuming that goes well, he'll then be cleared to start against the Rockies. The left-hander has been on the shelf for nearly three weeks with a strained forearm. Sunday, 11:41 am
    10-Day DL
  • Dan Straily sharp in Saturday's victory
Dan Straily (forearm) was able to make his start Saturday at L.A. Dodgers, allowing three earned runs, four hits and three walks with eight strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a win.

Advice: Straily didn't allow a hit until the fifth inning until Kike Hernandez belted a two-run homer. It was his first victory in seven starts dating back to April 11, his only previous win. He'll look to build a winning streak in his next schedule outing on Friday against the Angels. Sunday, 12:53 am
  • Matt Davidson belts his eighth home run
Matt Davidson finished 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and two runs scored in Saturday's win against the Mariners.

Advice: Davidson has stumbled to a .184 (9-for-49) average in the month of May, but he has belted three homers with six RBI over the past nine outings. He has hit safely in each of his past four outings so he is showing signs of pulling out of his weeks-long slump. Sunday, 12:06 am
    W, 3-0 vs Det ; 2:40 pm vs Det
  • Avisail Garcia tallies six RBI on Saturday
Avisail Garcia finished 4-for-5 with two doubles, two home runs and six RBI in Saturday's 16-1 win in Seattle.

Advice: Garcia has been on fire lately, posting four multi-hit games over his past five outings. He is 11-for-23 (.478) with four doubles, a triple, two homers and nine RBI across the past five games to raise his average from .336 to .357 just since May 15. Saturday, 11:43 pm
    W, 3-0 vs Det ; 2:40 pm vs Det
  • Mike Pelfrey receives plenty of support
Mike Pelfrey allowed one earned run, four hits and no walks with three strikeouts over six innings in Saturday's 16-1 victory in Seattle.

Advice: Pelfrey received a month's worth of offensive support at Safeco Field and he turned in his best effort of the season to post his first victory. He chopped nearly one run off his ERA from 5.70 to 4.85 as a result of the quality start. Saturday, 11:35 pm
    W, 3-0 vs Det ; 2:40 pm vs Det
  • Carlos Martinez superb in no-decision
Carlos Martinez allowed just two hits and a walk over nine scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Saturday.

Advice: Martinez matched scoreless frames with Jeff Samardzija in a pitcher's duel which didn't see the first runs until the 13th inning. The St. Louis right-hander has recorded five consecutive quality starts and he hasn't lost since April 20. Martinez has recorded 62 strikeouts over 57 2/3 innings this season and he has yielded just 19 hits over his past 26 frames. Saturday, 10:33 pm
  • A.J. Griffin suffers first loss of 2017
A.J. Griffin was tagged for nine runs, nine hits and a walk while striking out just three batters over 3 1/3 innings in a loss Saturday in Detroit.

Advice: The Rangers entered the game 6-0 over Griffin's first six outings of 2017. Griffin's ERA ballooned from 3.15 to 5.02 after the atrocious outing, as he threw just 61 of his 88 pitches for strikes. When he did put it over the plate, it was up in the zone and the Tigers teed off on him for four home runs. He'll look to bounce back against the struggling Blue Jays in Toronto next Friday. Saturday, 8:05 pm
    10-Day DL
    L, 3-1 @Tor
  • Hernandez goes 2-for-4 and scores two runs
Cesar Hernandez went 2-for-4 and scored a pair of runs in a loss to the Pirates on Saturday.

Advice: He singled and scored in the first inning. He beat out a bunt single to lead off the eighth frame and came around to score another run. Hernandez has been a run-scoring machine this year, crossing the plate 33 times in 40 games. Only four players have scored more. He owns a .303 batting average with four homers, 11 RBI and six stolen bases in 183 plate appearances. Saturday, 4:20 pm
  • Astros place Dallas Keuchel on 10-day DL
Astros placed LHP Dallas Keuchel on the 10-day disabled list with a pinched nerve in his neck.

Advice: The issue is believed to be minor and he's only expected to miss one start. Keuchel has been one of the most dominant starters in the league to this point of the season, posting a 7-0 record while registering a 1.84 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 54/14 K/BB ratio across 63 2/3 innings. Saturday, 8:27 am
  • Alex Wood goes 7 1/3 scoreless in win
Alex Wood blanked the Marlins for 7 1/3 innings Friday in the Dodgers' 7-2 win.

Advice: A strikeout machine his last two times out, Wood didn't need to be one tonight; he fanned just four of the 29 hitters he faced. He's now 5-0 with a 1.88 ERA in seven starts and two relief appearances. Most likely, he'll remain a quality starter if he can stay healthy. However, given his injury history, he'll soon make sense as a sell-high candidate in fantasy leagues. Friday, 11:46 pm
  • Marlins fall despite solo homer by Yelich
Christian Yelich went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Yelich uncoiled for a solo home run off Hyun-Jin Ryu in the third inning. He is working to a pedestrian .273/.327/.409 triple-slash through 154 at-bats, though his counting stats (six homers, 21 RBI, 27 runs scored) are respectable enough. Thursday, 10:42 pm
  • Jean Segura clubs three-run homer vs. CWS
Jean Segura went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Thursday's win over the White Sox.

Advice: The Mariners were clinging to a 1-0 lead heading to the bottom of the fifth when Segura slugged a three-run home run off Dylan Covey to give his squad a little bit of breathing room. His team's bullpen would extinguish that breathing room in the late innings before the M's stumbled back to win on an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth. Segura is slashing a cool .359/.404/.511 with four homers, 19 RBI and five steals in 30 games played. Thursday, 10:30 pm
  • Matt Davidson rocks two-run homer in defeat
Matt Davidson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Davidson got the White Sox on the board with his two-run home run in the seventh inning. The 26-year-old has shown some pop in his bat this season, socking seven homers across 90 at-bats, but that power comes with a meager .222 batting average. Thursday, 10:19 pm
    W, 3-0 vs Det ; 2:40 pm vs Det
  • James Paxton completes pen session Thursday
James Paxton (forearm) completed a 25-pitch bullpen session on Thursday.

Advice: Paxton said it went "great." The Mariners will put Paxton through another bullpen session on Sunday before shipping him off to Double-A Arkansas for a minor league rehab start. Paxton was off to a phenomenal start before his injury and the Mariners are desperate for rotation help with Felix Hernandez (shoulder), Hisashi Iwakuma (shoulder) and Drew Smyly (elbow) all on the disabled list. Thursday, 4:37 pm
    10-Day DL
  • James Paxton (forearm) throws in outfield
James Paxton (forearm) threw in the outfield on Wednesday.

Advice: Paxton is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Thursday. Assuming that goes off without a hitch, he would then go out on a minor league rehab assignment. He may only need one rehab start before he is ready to rejoin the Mariners. Assuming no setbacks, he could potentially return to the team for their May 26-28 series against the Red Sox. Wednesday, 5:05 pm
