    Helsley allowed a hit and struck out two without walking a batter in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Angels.

    Advice: Helsley has a win and six saves during his nine-inning scoreless streak, a span that's seen him allowed six hits and one walk while striking out 11. The right-hander is 13-for-14 in save chances this season with a 1.35 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 23:2 K:BB over 20 innings. Helsley seems to be benefiting from being the stand-alone closer as opposed to part of a committee.   • Allows five runs in win
    Gray (5-2) earned the win Tuesday over the Angels, giving up five runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out nine.

    Advice: Gray was shaky for a second straight start, but he at least got ample run support this time around. The Cardinals took a 5-0 lead in the third inning, which Gray gave back by the end of the fifth. He ended up with the win after Alec Burleson's two-run home run put St. Louis ahead for good in the top of the seventh. Gray is now at a 3.05 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 53:8 K:BB over 41.1 innings across seven starts this season.   • Gavin Stone holds Giants to one run in victory
    Gavin Stone pitched six innings, allowing just one run, in the Dodgers’ 10-2 drubbing of the Giants on Tuesday.

    Advice: Stone struck out only two and walked three tonight, but there wasn’t much hard contact from the injury-riddled Giants lineup. It’s Stone’s fourth straight quality start, and he’s now 4-1 with a 3.27 ERA overall.   • Shohei Ohtani goes 3-for-5, hits 12th homer
    Shohei Ohtani finished 3-for-5 with a homer and a double against the Giants on Tuesday.

    Advice: In what seems to be tracking as the worst year for offense in decades, Ohtani is batting .361/.427/.680 with 12 homers. He’s 69 points of OPS ahead of Marcell Ozuna, who is second in the majors in the category. Ohtani’s homer tonight was a 446-foot blast that left his bat at 113.4 mph, and his 109.4-mph single was the second hardest-hit ball of the contest. Rotoworld Today, 10:21 pm
     
  • Strong until late homer
    Gilbert (3-2) allowed three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out seven over 6.2 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Royals.

    Advice: Gilbert gave up just four baserunners over the first six innings. He went back out for the seventh, but two walks and a Nelson Velazquez home run ended his outing in unfortunate fashion. It's a significant improvement on the eight-run fiasco he had in Minnesota in his last start, but it's still a second straight loss for 27-year-old. He's pitched to a 3.07 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 61:18 K:BB over 58.2 innings over nine starts this season. Gilbert is projected for a tough road start versus the Yankees his next time out.   • Cal Quantrill pitches Rockies past Padres
    Cal Quantrill held the Padres to one run over six innings in picking up a victory Tuesday.

    Advice: Amazingly and incredibly, Quantrill’s ERA is down to 3.66. He’s allowed a total of two runs in his last three starts, even striking out 19 batters in the process. We still certainly wouldn’t suggest grabbing him in fantasy leagues, but this has been a whole lot better than his Colorado experience figured to go. Rotoworld Today, 9:57 pm
     
  • Tyler Kinley records first save for Rockies
    Tyler Kinley recorded his first save of the year with a perfect ninth against the Padres on Tuesday.

    Advice: Kinley got the nod tonight with both Jalen Beeks and Justin Lawrence unavailable. He entered camp as probably a slight favorite over Lawrence to close for the Rockies, but he had a bad spring and then posted a 13.06 ERA in April. The good news is that he’s up to 5 2/3 scoreless innings this month. Still, he’s behind both Beeks and Lawrence in line for saves. Rotoworld Today, 9:57 pm
     
  • Dylan Cease fans eight in loss to Rockies
    Dylan Cease surrendered three runs in 5 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Rockies.

    Advice: The third run came after he was pulled in the sixth. Cease struck out eight and gave up just four hard-hit balls, although one was a homer. It’s just the second time this season that he’s failed to complete six innings. Ideally, he would have done better than this with the matchup against a terrible offense at Petco Park, but there’s very little to be disappointed about here so far. Rotoworld Today, 9:57 pm

    McArthur allowed a run on two hits and struck out three without walking a batter over 1.1 innings to earn the save in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Mariners.

    Advice: McArthur gave up a solo home run to Mitch Haniger in the ninth inning, but he was able to avoid any further damage. The right-hander has surrendered seven runs (six earned) over his last five appearances, and he's been tagged for four homers in that span. He's managed to convert saves in each of his last two outings despite the long balls. McArthur is 10-for-13 in save chances this year while adding a 4.58 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 21:3 K:BB through 19.2 innings.
