    • Erick Fedde hurls six strong in victory over ARI
Erick Fedde went six innings while allowing two runs to get a win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Advice: Fedde did allow eight hits, but he didn’t put anyone on via walk while striking out six. The right-hander gave up runs in the first and fifth inning and he was able to avoid the big inning for another strong outing for the 31-year-old. The White Sox have been a disaster, but Fedde has been an absolute bright spot with a 3.09 ERA through 87 1/3 innings. He’s scheduled to take on the Tigers on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:08 pm
    • Completes seven innings in win
Rodriguez (8-2) earned the win against the Phillies on Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk with six strikeouts over seven innings.

Advice: Rodriguez allowed runs on an RBI double by Alec Bohm in the first inning and a solo home run by Edmundo Sosa in the second but rebounded with five scoreless frames to earn his third consecutive win. This was the first time Rodriguez completed seven innings in a start this season, but he has pitched into the sixth in all but two of his 12 starts so far. On the year, Rodriguez now owns a 3.20 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 77:23 K:BB and tentatively lines up to start next week against the Yankees. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:51 pm
    • Joe Musgrove (elbow) could resume throwing soon
Padres’ manager Mike Shildt said Friday that Joe Musgrove (elbow) could resume throwing soon.

Advice: The 31-year-old hurler is dealing with elbow inflammation and soreness in his right triceps — and was given a cortisone shot and PRP injection after an MRI revealed that a bone spur was causing his issues. Shildt didn’t give any specifics regarding a specific timeline for Musgrove’s return, but if he starts throwing soon that’s at least an encouraging sign. He shouldn’t be expected back until after the All-Star break. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:25 pm

    • Could resume throwing soon
Padres manager Mike Shildt said Friday that Musgrove (elbow) is getting closer to picking up a ball and starting a throwing program, per MLB.com.

Advice: Musgrove was diagnosed with a bone spur in his right elbow in early June and consequently received PRP and cortisone injections. While Shildt said Friday that the veteran pitcher could resume throwing soon, he didn't give specifics on a timeline. Given that Musgrove dealt with a similar injury in May, the Padres are unlikely to rush him back, and he's probably at least a month away from a return. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:16 pm

    • Grayson Rodriguez goes seven strong in win
Grayson Rodriguez allowed two runs with six strikeouts over seven innings in a win over the Phillies on Saturday.

Advice: Rodriguez got two quick outs to start the game, but gave up a single and a double that would bring a run in to score for the Phillies in the first. Edmundo Sosa then led off the second inning with a solo homer. Rodriguez settled in to retire ten consecutive batters until working around a single in a scoreless fifth inning. He got into trouble in the sixth with runners on second and third with two outs. Rodriguez got Sosa to strike out swinging to escape the jam, his sixth strikeout on the day. He’d toss one more scoreless frame to complete seven innings for the win. The 24-year-old right-hander will take a 3.20 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and a 77/23 K/BB ratio across 70 1/3 innings into a start against the Astros in Houston on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:36 pm
    • On bench Saturday
Smith is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Smith will give way to Austin Barnes behind the dish for the second time in three days, with Barnes batting ninth Saturday. In 256 plate appearances, Smith owns a .848 OPS with 10 homers and a 16.0 percent strikeout rate. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:07 pm
    • Tallies ninth homer
Reynolds went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two RBI on Friday against the Rockies.

Advice: Reynolds popped his ninth home run of the season in the first inning and also extended his hitting streak to 12 games. Though it was only his second long ball in that span, Reynolds has hit .340 with a .969 OPS to go along with eight RBI and six runs scored. Overall, he has turned in another solid season through 310 plate appearances, maintaining a .335 wOBA and 116 wRC+. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:05 am
    • Hits fifth in return
Jones went 0-for-2 with two walks Friday against the Pirates.

Advice: Jones was activated from the injured list Friday after missing roughly six weeks due to back and knee injuries. He hit fifth in the order, which was a common spot in the lineup for him before he was sidelined. Jones will now seek to get his season on track, as he has just a .167/.252/.271 line with one home run and two stolen bases across 107 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:08 am
    • Back in win column
Gil (9-1) picked up the win Friday over the Red Sox, allowing one run on four hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Gil struggled with his command, but he managed to limit Boston to a lone fourth-inning run. The 26-year-old right-hander allowed three runs in his last outing against the Dodgers, but he's held opponents to one run or fewer in eight of his last nine starts. Gil's ERA is down to 2.03 with a 0.98 WHIP and 96:39 K:BB across 80 innings this year. He's currently slated for a road matchup with the Orioles in his next outing. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:22 pm
