      Michael Kopech blew a save but picked up a win while allowing a run over an inning of work against the Mariners on Thursday.

      Advice: Kopech gets the win despite allowing a game-tying homer to Julio Rodriguez with two outs in the ninth. The win stat has zero flaws and anyone who suggests otherwise is providing falsehoods.       Kopech struck out two and walked one without allowing a hit in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday against the Mariners.

      Advice: Kopech imploded to allow three earned runs and blow a lead in an appearance Monday, but he managed to bounce back in this outing. He entered the game with the score tied at 1-1 and turned in just his third scoreless effort in his last five appearances.       King came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the A's, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks over five-plus innings. He struck out 12.

      Advice: The right-hander set a season high in Ks and took a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning, but after allowing back-to-back singles to begin the frame, King left the mound and watched as Wandy Peralta let both inherited runners cross the plate. King hasn't been tagged for more than three runs in any of his last five starts, posting a 2.20 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 34:8 K:BB in 28.2 innings over that stretch.       Lodolo (7-2) earned the win against the Guardians on Wednesday, allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks with six strikeouts over six innings.

      Advice: After retiring the first three batters he faced, Lodolo had traffic on the bases all night but limited the damage to just two runs. Lodolo even hit two batters, but he was able to battle for his fourth consecutive win and third straight quality start. Despite two stints on the injured list, Lodolo has had a huge bounceback season and now owns a 2.93 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 62:15 K:BB through 10 starts.       Civale did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Cubs, allowing one run on five hits and one walk with six strikeouts over 5.2 innings.

      Advice: Civale loaded the bases in the first inning but got out of the jam and pitched well other than a solo home run by Seiya Suzuki in the fourth inning. Civale left the game an out shy of a quality start with a 2-1 lead, but a Cody Bellinger three-run homer in the seventh prevented him from earning his first win since April 9.       Advice: Civale, who struck out six, left with a one-run lead, but it was quickly blown in the seventh. It’s not exactly true, but it does feel like Rays starters have about five wins between them this year.       Nick Lodolo picked up his seventh victory of the season on Wednesday, limiting the Guardians to just two runs on seven hits over his six innings of work.

      Advice: The 26-year-old southpaw struck out six batters on the evening while issuing three free passes. Lodolo walked David Fry with the bases loaded in the third inning to force in a run, then they scratched out a second run as Andres Gimenez bounced into a fielder’s choice in the fifth inning. Lodolo got 13 swings and misses on 102 pitches in the ballgame, registering a CSW of 23 percent. Now 7-2 on the season, he’ll look to keep the good times rolling as he brings a 2.93 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and a 62/15 K/BB ratio (58 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s showdown against the Pirates in Pittsburgh. The 29-year-old righty has allowed three earned runs or fewer in seven of his last eight starts since May 4.       Advice: It was an encouraging outing for Lopez after he allowed seven runs and six walks in a loss to the Yankees in his last start. The right-hander notably didn't allow a free pass Wednesday. Overall, it's been an inconsistent first quarter of the season for Lopez -- his ERA sits at 5.33 with a 1.21 WHIP and 84:17 K:BB across 14 starts (76 innings).
