    • Chris Bassitt earns win against Giants
Chris Bassitt allowed three runs with six strikeouts over five innings in a win over the Giants on Wednesday.

Advice: Bassitt allowed two runs in to score in the first inning on three singles and a walk. He battled control issues in the second inning, walking the bases loaded before escaping the jam. Bassitt worked a clean third and fourth, then gave up a third run on a single and a double in the fifth. That would be it for the 35-year-old right-hander. He picked up his eighth win to go with a 3.52 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and a 100/45 K/BB ratio across 107 1/3 innings at the All-Star break. Rotoworld Today, 9:43 pm
    • Three hits, two runs in loss
Marte went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Rockies.

Advice: This was Marte's first multi-hit effort since his season debut June 27. The infielder is batting just .176 with one home run, six RBI, eight runs scored, two doubles and two stolen bases over 54 plate appearances. Marte is likely still working some things out on the fly after opening the year with an 80-game suspension, but he continues to see consistent playing time at third base amid his struggles. • Jarren Duran posts three hits in loss to A’s
Jarren Duran went 3-for-5 with a stolen base on Wednesday in the Red Sox’ loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Duran, who will make his first All-Star Game appearance next week, raised his batting average to a robust .280 mark with a three-hit performance on Wednesday night at Fenway Park. He also notched his 22nd stolen base of the year in this one. The 27-year-old outfielder has had one of the most notable first-half breakouts this season with an .816 OPS to go along with 45 extra-base hits (10 homers) and 22 steals in 422 plate appearances through 91 games. • Max Scherzer not looking to waive no-trade
Asked Wednesday on Foul Territory if he might be willing to waive his no-trade clause this summer. Max Scherzer said he’s “not gonna do that” and that he expects the Rangers to play better baseball.

Advice: This will definitely come up again if the Rangers don’t play better in the coming weeks, but while their playoffs odds don’t look great now (13%, according to Fangraphs), they do seem particularly well set up for the final two months with Jacob deGrom, Tyler Mahle, Josh Jung and Evan Carter all potentially returning. • Completes clean inning
Bednar (oblique) didn't allow a baserunner and struck out one in a scoreless inning of work in a rehab appearance Tuesday with Double-A Altoona.

Advice: Bednar was originally scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Indianapolis, but weather concerns shifted his appearance to Altoona. Regardless, it was a positive outing and he is presumably nearing a return to the big-league mound. Rotowire.com Today, 9:06 am

    • Takes no-decision versus Angels
Scherzer allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and struck out six without walking a batter over 6.2 innings, taking a no-decision Tuesday versus the Angels.

Advice: Scherzer allowed a pair of solo home runs to Logan O'Hoppe in the contest. This was Scherzer's second quality start in a row, and he threw 95 pitches (70 strikes). It appears he's clear for a full workload after easing back into action following a lengthy absence due to offseason back surgery as well as thumb and forearm issues. The right-hander is now at a 3.09 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB through 23.1 innings across four starts. The Rangers are off Thursday, so it is likely Scherzer is done for the first half of the campaign, which should afford him some extra rest before Texas hosts the Orioles coming out of the All-Star break. • Max Scherzer goes 6 2/3 innings in no-decision
Max Scherzer yielded four runs — three earned — in 6 2/3 innings Tuesday in a no-decision versus the Angels.

Advice: Scherzer struck out six with a fine 32% CSW and walked none in his longest start of the year to date. Unfortunately, it needed to be one out longer for him to get the win, as the Rangers only went ahead for good in the top of the eighth. The Rangers are off Thursday, so unless something changes, Scherzer won’t pitch again until after the break. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:41 pm

    • Smacks 15th home run
Westburg went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss against the Cubs.

Advice: Westburg took Jameson Taillon deep to one of the deepest parts of Camden Yards in the left-center field seats. The 418-foot blast was Westburg's third-longest homer this season and his 15th overall. He became the fourth different Orioles player with 15 or more home runs this season, most of any team in MLB. The 25-year-old continued his stellar first half, and he's now slashing .281/.328/.512 with 50 RBI and is on his way to his first All-Star appearance. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:31 pm

    • Goes deep in win
Happ went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, a walk and an additional run in Tuesday's 9-2 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Happ stayed hot at the dish, as he singled, walked and then crushed a three-run blast in his first three at-bats Tuesday. It was Happ's 14th homer of the season and eighth in the last 22 games alone, and it ran his RBI total over that span to 25 in the process. For the season, the 29-year-old is hitting .244/.358/.455 and continues to be an everyday lock in the middle of the Cubs lineup. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:08 pm
