    • Reaches, scores twice in win
Swanson went 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored in Saturday's 9-4 win against the Royals.

Advice: It's mostly been a struggle this season for Swanson, but he's been showing some signs of life lately. The shortstop is riding a five-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 7-for-18 with a couple of runs scored and two stolen bases. Swanson is slashing just .219/.291/.345 overall, however, which are all down from last year. He'll need a big finish to get his numbers more in line with his strong results from the past few seasons. • Goes yard Saturday
Diaz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Reds.

Advice: He went back-to-back with Alex Jackson off Andrew Abbott to lead off the fifth inning, breaking open a 1-0 game. While the homer was only the ninth of the year for Diaz, a disappointing total after he slugged a career-high 22 last season, he has been supplying more power in July, slashing .278/.328/.481 through 13 games on the month. The 32-year-old is on an affordable contract that pays him $10 million in 2025 with a $12 million club option for 2026, but with the Rays in sell mode at the trade deadline and a number of contenders in need of help at first base, Diaz could be the next player to go. • Clubs three-run homer
Ruiz went 1-for-6 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 14-3 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Ruiz didn't have much success Saturday, but he took Matthew Liberatore deep in the sixth inning to turn this game into a rout in favor of Washington. This was Ruiz's fourth homer in July, and he's batting .261 (18-for-69) this month, though he hasn't posted a multi-hit effort since July 8. The catcher has a .217/.250/.337 slash line, eight homers, 33 RBI, 26 runs scored and one stolen base over 77 contests this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:48 pm

    • Keibert Ruiz slugs three-run homer in victory
Keibert Ruiz slugged a three-run homer on Saturday night as the Nationals crushed the Cardinals in St. Louis.

Advice: Ruiz put the exclamation point on a seven-run uprising in the sixth inning with a 389-foot (99.4-mph EV) three-run blast off of Matthew Liberatore that increased the Nationals’ lead to 9-0. That would be his only hit in five at-bats on the evening. For the season, the 26-year-old catcher is slashing a disappointing .218/.251/.338 with eight long balls and 33 RBI. • Blasts 21st homer
Raleigh went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Saturday's 6-3 win over the White Sox.

Advice: This was Raleigh's first long ball of the second half. He's hit safely in four of his last five games, going 5-for-18 with three walks in that span. The catcher continues to display excellent power with 21 homers and a .426 slugging percentage, but he's batting just .213 on the year. He's added 63 RBI, 43 runs scored, 10 doubles and five stolen bases through 100 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:58 pm

    • Rehab moved to Triple-A
Alzolay's (forearm) rehab assignment was transferred to Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, Tommy Birch of USA Today reports.

Advice: Alzolay appeared in two games with the Cubs' Arizona Complex League affiliate, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits and no walks across two innings. He'll continue his assignment at Triple-A and it's unclear how many more outings he'll need before being activated. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:54 pm

    • Yandy Díaz launches solo homer in victory
Yandy Díaz went 1-for-4 with a solo homer as the Rays topped the Reds 4-0 on Saturday.

Advice: Díaz followed Alex Jackson’s leadoff homer in the fifth inning with a solo shot of his own, taking Andrew Abbott deep to extend the Rays’ lead. The 32-year-old first baseman is slashing .272/.327/.400 with nine homers and 47 RBI across 425 plate appearances. He’s reportedly been at the center of some trade talks and is a player to watch leading up to Tuesday’s trade deadline. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:37 pm

    • Matt Olson goes yard in win against Mets
Matt Olson went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in the Braves’ 4-0 win over the Mets on Saturday.

Advice: Olson followed Marcell Ozuna’s solo homer in the fourth inning, going back-to-back off Tylor Megill, breaking a 14-game home run drought for the slugger. Hopefully, it’s the start of a better second half stretch, with hits in each of his last four games. The 30-year-old first baseman is slashing .227/.304/.396 with 14 homers and 45 RBI across 431 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:29 pm

    • Injury hampering throwing ability
Merrifield can't throw the ball well with the stitches in his finger and likely won't be able to play in the field until the stitches are removed, which isn't expected to occur until Atlanta returns home Thursday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Merrifield suffered a finger injury while taking grounders shortly after being signed by Atlanta on Monday. Although he entered Thursday's game as a pinch runner and stole a base, he's unable to play in the field and likely won't be able to until after Atlanta's road trip ends Wednesday. While Merrifield playing as the designated hitter hasn't officially been ruled out, Atlanta has several alternate options at DH and likely won't rush Merrifield back. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:57 pm
