    • Batting second in team debut
Thomas will start in right field and bat second in Tuesday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: Thomas will be thrown right into the fire after being acquired via trade from the Nationals on Monday. He should serve as the Guardians' everyday right fielder down the stretch but also offers the flexibility to play some center field, if needed. Rotowire.com Today, 7:48 am

    • Lane Thomas hitting second in debut with Guardians
Lane Thomas is hitting second and playing right field against the Tigers on Tuesday.

Advice: Thomas is making his debut with Cleveland a day after being traded to the Guardians in a deal with the Nationals. The outfielder has been much more effective against lefties, and Tyler Holton will be on the mound to begin this contest for the Tigers. Thomas offers the potential to help in several fantasy categories and does see his stock go up as a member of the Cleveland lineup. Rotoworld Today, 7:46 am

    • Reaches 20-steal mark
Abrams went 1-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 9-8 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Abrams has had an inconsistent July, batting .170 (16-for-94) while logging six steals over 24 contests this month. The 23-year-old's still regularly hitting leadoff and that's unlikely to change with the Nationals focusing on the future for the remainder of the campaign. The shortstop has a .256/.331/.457 slash line, 15 home runs, 20 steals, 51 RBI and 64 runs scored over 99 contests this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:15 pm

    • Swipes 14th bag
Fraley went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 7-1 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Fraley reached on a fielder's choice in the second inning, then stole a base and came around to score on a Will Benson home run. Fraley has two steals in his last five games, the same amount he had in his previous 24 games. The 29-year-old will sit often against lefties, and with just two homers and 16 RBI through 76 games, he has to do more in the run-producing categories to be worth a roster spot. • Launches 17th home run
Candelario went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Monday's 7-1 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Candelario took Nate Pearson deep in the eighth inning for one of three Reds homers on Monday. Candelario broke out of a minor slump that saw him go 3-for-36 over his last nine games. The 30-year-old now has 17 home runs this season, one behind Elly De La Cruz for the team lead. Candelario remains a fixture in the Reds lineup, hitting .228/.284/.440 with 50 RBI and four stolen bases through 94 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:27 pm

    • Lane Thomas sent to Guardians in four-player deal
Guardians acquired OF Lane Thomas from the Nationals for LHP Alex Clemmey, INF José Tena and INF Rafael Ramirez Jr.

Advice: The Guardians are definitely valuing Thomas as a quality regular by giving up this much for him, so while it’s arguable that he won’t help them against righties, we’d expect him to keep playing every day and maybe continue to hit second regularly. He probably won’t do as much running — he’s 28-for-40 there this year — but that could be countered by some extra runs and RBI while hitting in a better lineup. This might set up a Will Brennan-Angel Martinez platoon in center field, assuming that Martinez sticks. There’s the chance the Guardians could send him down and use Tyler Freeman in center against lefties. David Fry will probably lose some playing time, as Jhonkensy Noel could replace some of his right field starts by DHing instead. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:58 pm

    • Headed to Cleveland
The Guardians acquired Thomas from the Nationals on Monday in exchange for left-hander Alex Clemmey and infielders Jose Tena and Rafael Ramirez, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Cleveland will get a high-impact right-handed bat in Thomas, who is hitting .326 against southpaws this season. He also brings plenty of speed with 28 stolen bases, though he has been caught stealing an MLB-high 12 times. Thomas is under club control through 2025 and should immediately supplant either Will Brennan for an everyday spot in the Cleveland outfield. Since the beginning of July, Thomas has slashed .287/.398/.379 with 11 stolen bases, eight doubles and six RBI across 100 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:18 pm

    • Slated for simulated game
Kelly (shoulder) will throw a three-inning simulated game Wednesday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Eduardo Rodriguez (shoulder) will throw a four-inning simulated game the same day and could join the Diamondbacks' rotation next week. Kelly is behind him, but it doesn't appear by much. A return for the right-hander by mid-August looks doable if all goes well. He's been out since late April with a right shoulder strain. • Report: Guardians acquire Lane Thomas from Nats
The Guardians are getting Lane Thomas from the Nationals, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.

Advice: We were skeptical a contender would meet the Nationals’ asking price for Thomas, who is pretty great against lefties but not really a quality starting option against righties. For the Guardians, though, he’s probably an upgrade in right field. Will Brennan will likely be asked to play more center alongside Angel Martínez. Since Thomas could well remain an everyday player and No. 2 hitter, this might wind up as a positive for his fantasy value. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:56 pm
