    • Diaz plates two as Astros top Mariners
Yainer Diaz drove in a pair in a victory over the Mariners on Friday.

Advice: Diaz gave the Astros a 3-0 lead with a two-run single off Luis Castillo in the third inning. The backstop has driven in 51 runs while hitting 284 with a .719 OPS on the 2024 campaign. Rotoworld 51 minutes ago
    • Fans eight in win
Flaherty (7-5) earned the win Friday versus Toronto, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: The Detroit right-hander collected his second consecutive win, as he conjured 17 whiffs to produce eight punchouts. In his second start since returning from a back injury, Flaherty masterfully commanded his arsenal over 98 pitches. He has now pitched to a 3.13 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 127:17 K:BB across 100.2 innings, making him a prime trade target at the upcoming July 30 deadline. Flaherty is currently scheduled to make his next start against the Guardians on the road. Rotowire.com Today, 7:55 pm

    • Collects three RBI in win
Volpe went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in Friday's 6-1 win versus Tampa Bay.

Advice: The New York shortstop cracked a bases-clearing double in the third inning to extend the Yankees' lead to 4-0. This performance marks Volpe's third three-RBI game of the season. Perhaps this game's success will spur the 23-year-old on to a better second half, as he entered the evening hitting a miserable .143 (12-for-84) with eight runs scored and five RBI over his previous 20 games. • Tanner Bibee blanks Padres, earns eighth win
Tanner Bibee didn’t allow a run across 5 2/3 innings in a 7-0 win over the Padres on Friday. He walked three and struck out three.

Advice: This was not Bibee’s best game despite not allowing a run. His usually excellent slider was all over the place and he induced just six swings and misses overall. That matched his lowest total of the season. Still, it’s a testament to Bibee’s growth that he was able to keep a solid offense off the board without his best stuff. Rotoworld Today, 7:31 pm
    • Suffers calf strain
Bichette left Friday's game against the Tigers due to a right calf strain.

Advice: Bichette wasn't able to put any weight on his right leg after lining out to right field in the sixth inning, and he's now officially been diagnosed with a strained right calf -- the same injury that caused him to miss the last four games before the All-Star break. The Blue Jays didn't place him on the IL after his initial strain, but there's a good chance he spends some time on the injured list this time around in order to properly address the issue. Leo Jimenez will presumably take over as Toronto's starting shortstop while Bichette recovers. Rotowire.com Today, 6:58 pm

    • Jack Flaherty strikes out eight in win over Jays
Jack Flaherty delivered a strong performance in Friday night’s victory over the Blue Jays, giving up two runs on just three hits over 5 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: The right-hander piled up eight strikeouts on the evening while issuing just one base on balls. All of the damage done against him came in his final inning of work, as Flaherty issued a two-out walk to Spencer Horowitz and then lost a nine-pitch battle to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. that resulted in a mammoth 445-foot two-run blast. Overall, Flaherty got 17 swings and misses on 98 pitches on the night — eight on his slider — while posting a CSW of 32 percent. He’ll carry a 7-5 record, 3.13 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 127/17 K/BB ratio (100 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Guardians in Cleveland. Rotoworld Today, 6:48 pm

    • Removed with apparent injury
Bichette was removed from Friday's game versus Detroit with an apparent leg injury, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Bichette was hopping to first base as he lined a ball into right field during the sixth inning, and he was reluctant to put any weight on his right leg. The 26-year-old shortstop missed the final four games of the first half due to a strained right calf, and the Blue Jays' trainers will now take a look at him to determine if his latest injury is a related issue. • Bo Bichette leaves game after re-injuring calf
Bo Bichette was removed from Friday night’s battle against the Tigers after re-injuring his right calf.

Advice: It happened while the 26-year-old shortstop was hustling down the first base line on a line drive to right field in the sixth inning. He’ll head for further examination, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see him land on the injured list this time around. Stay tuned, as the Jays should have another update on his status after the game concludes. Rotoworld Today, 5:56 pm

    • Bo Bichette (calf) returns to Jays’ lineup Friday
Bo Bichette (calf) returned to the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for Friday’s second half opener against the Tigers.

Advice: Bichette sat out the final four games before the break with a sore calf, but he’s feeling much improved after an extended rest and is hoping to come out of the gate strong to start the second half of the season. He’ll start at shortstop and bat fifth against Jack Flaherty and the Tigers on Friday evening in Toronto. Rotoworld Today, 1:02 pm
