Polanco went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run in a win over the Padres on Tuesday.

Advice: It was a rare multi-hit effort for the struggling veteran, who'd last accomplished that feat on May 4. Polanco had been mired in a 1-for-12 skid over the previous four games entering Tuesday, a brief but nightmarish stretch where he'd struck out in eight of his 14 plate appearances. Polanco's season slash line still stands at a career-worst .196/.288/.289, and with the sample size now having grown to 219 plate appearances, it's fair to wonder how much improvement it will realistically see over the remainder of the season. • Racks up career-high 11 Ks
Bello (9-5) picked up the win in Tuesday's 12-9 victory over the A's, giving up five runs on nine hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out a career-high 11.

Advice: The right-hander's line was looking much better through five innings, but Lawrence Butler helped chase Bello from the game in the sixth with a three-run homer. The 11 strikeouts topped his previous career high of 10, set Sept. 15, 2023 against the Blue Jays. Despite the surge in Ks, Bello has been tagged for four or more runs in five of seven trips to the mound since the beginning of June, stumbling to a 7.00 ERA. 1.89 WHIP and 38:17 K:BB in 36 innings over that stretch. He lines up for one more outing before the All-Star break in a home series against the Royals this weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 7:09 am
    • Suffers first loss since return
Gallen (6-5) took the loss Tuesday against Atlanta, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk while striking out four over 5.1 innings.

Advice: Gallen needed 53 pitches just to get through the first two innings, which is the most for him in a start this year. Atlanta pushed two runs across on him in the second, though one came off an error. Gallen then tossed three scoreless frames before coming back out for the sixth, and faltered there, allowing two men on before Adam Duvall crushed a curveball 441 feet to left to put Atlanta up 5-0 and end Gallen's night at 105 pitches. The home run was just the third Gallen's given up in his last seven starts (excluding his May 30 start when he exited the game after one batter). The 28-year-old owns a 3.33 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 75:20 K:BB in 73 innings and lines up for one final start before the All-Star break against Toronto this weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 6:51 am
    • Moves to leadoff
Steer batted leadoff and went 1-for-3 with two walks and two RBI in Tuesday's 12-6 win over Colorado.

Advice: Normally the Reds' cleanup hitter, Steer was moved to leadoff when Jonathan India was scratched due to a left knee contusion. Steer, who belted a two-run home run in the seventh inning, has four homers and eight RBI over the last six games. Rotowire.com Today, 6:33 am

    • Zac Gallen gives up five runs in loss to Braves
Zac Gallen pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed five runs — four earned — in a loss to the Braves on Tuesday.

Advice: Gallen’s velocity tonight wasn’t quite as good as in his first two starts back from the injured list, though at 94.3 mph on average with his fastball, he was still up some from the first two months of the season. Alas, he gave up 10 hard-hit balls, including the four hardest of the game; those ranged from 108.5 to 112.7 mph and produced a homer, a double and two singles. Gallen fell to 6-5 with a 3.33 ERA for the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:50 pm
    • Converts 16th save
Hader walked one and struck out two in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Marlins.

Advice: Entering Tuesday, Hader had yielded a run in four of his last six appearances. He was able to avoid that fate in this contest, earning his 16th save of the year, nine of which he's collected since the start of June. His recent inconsistency has pushed his ERA up to 4.05 with a 1.05 WHIP and 63:12 K:BB through 40 innings, but he's still taken just one blown save this year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:12 pm

    • Grabs 15th save
Fairbanks earned the save in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Yankees, allowing one hit while striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: Fairbanks worked around a DJ LeMahieu one-out single, striking out Ben Rice before coaxing a flyout off the bat of Juan Soto to close out a two-run victory while securing his 15th save of the year. The 30-year-old Fairbanks has converted his last six save opportunities, allowing just one run on one hit in that span. His ERA is down to 3.13 with a 1.17 WHIP and 32:13 K:BB across 31.2 innings this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:57 pm
    • Josh Hader silences Marlins to reel in 16th save
Josh Hader fired a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday against the Marlins to collect his 16th save of the season.

Advice: Hader got the call to protect a one-run margin in the final frame and made things interesting by issuing a one-out walk to Jake Burger. He managed to coax a fielder’s choice from Xavier Edwards before fanning lefty-masher Emmanuel Rivera to preserve the victory. It was a much-needed strong outing for the 30-year-old elite closer after giving up runs in four of his previous six outings since June 25. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:42 pm

    • Brayan Bello strikes out 11 in win
Brayan Bello allowed nine hits and five earned runs in 5 2/3 innings on Tuesday against the Athletics. He struck out a career-best 11 and walked two.

Advice: There was a lot of good and a lot of bad with Bello here. The good: he struck out more batters than he ever has in a single start while matching career-bests in swings-and-misses with both his slider and his changeup. Now the bad: Bello was granted an 11-2 lead after the second inning and still couldn’t work his way through the sixth inning with his huge cushion. Bello perpetually takes three steps forwards and then two steps back. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:29 pm
