  • Chase Anderson to start for Red Sox on Thursday
Chase Anderson will start for the Red Sox on Thursday against the Guardians.

Advice: The Red Sox are in a tough spot with Brayan Bello heading to the injured list and need to scramble to fill his spot in the starting rotation. Anderson has been used in a multi-inning role out of the bullpen, but he has thrown 25 or fewer pitches in each of his last four outings. Don’t expect him to work more than two or three innings before passing the baton on Thursday. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago

  • Exits with injury
Marsh was removed from his start Wednesday versus Toronto after getting hit by a comebacker, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Marsh took a 94-mph line drive off his right forearm during the fifth inning and looked to be in a considerable amount of pain before leaving the game with trainers. The Royals will take a closer look at him and should offer an update on his status after Wednesday's game. The 25-year-old righty pitched 4.1 innings of shutout ball before exiting. • Logs hit in return
Alexander started at shortstop and went 1-for-4 in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Cardinals.

Alexander also committed his fourth throwing error of the season (minus-7 outs above average), although the fielding issues haven't impacted his playing time or offense. Alexander is hitting .316/.371/.915 with four doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI over 62 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 24 minutes ago

  • Rangers claim Kolton Ingram off of waivers
Rangers claimed LHP Kolton Ingram off of waivers from the Mets.

Advice: The Mets were the latest team to try to slip the 27-year-old southpaw through waivers unclaimed, but once again someone was willing to take a flier on him. Ingram posted a 7.20 ERA, 2.20 WHIP and a 3/6 K/BB ratio across five innings at Triple-A Syracuse. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago
  • Rangers outright Jared Walsh to Triple-A
Rangers sent 1B Jared Walsh outright to Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: It’s a bit surprising to see the 30-year-old slugger pass through waivers unclaimed, though he hit just .226/.317/.321 with a homer and seven RBI in 60 plate appearances with the Rangers while covering for the injured Nathaniel Lowe. He’ll continue to function as excess depth at Triple-A. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago

Barger was off to a terrific start at Triple-A Buffalo, slashing .314/.435/.586 with three homers and 21 RBI through his first 19 games. He’ll add depth and versatility on the Jays’ bench.
