• Brewers designate Owen Miller for assignment
Brewers designated INF/OF Owen Miller for assignment.

Advice: With Garrett Mitchell coming off the 60-day IL, the Brewers needed an extra spot on the 40-man roster, so they decided to move on from Miller, who had been sent to Triple-A at the end of May. Miller had started the year strong for Milwaukee but is hitting just .185 on the season with a 39 percent strikeout rate. He’ll hope to get a shot with another organization. • Late entrant into lineup
Clement will start at third base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Clement wasn't in the Blue Jays' initial lineup, but he'll get his third straight start after he was a late addition in place of Vladimir Guerrero (finger), who was scratched. Guerrero is considered day-to-day, and once he's able to rejoin the lineup, Clement will likely return to his usual bench role. Rotowire.com Monday, 10:19 am

  • Exits 40-man roster
The Brewers designated Miller for assignment Monday.

Advice: The 27-year-old has spent most of his time this season in the minors, having slashed just .185/.185/.222 across 27 plate appearances during his time in the majors in 2024. Miller offers some defensive versatility and has flashed at times offensively, so it's possible he draws some interest via trade or waivers. Rotowire.com Monday, 9:47 am

  • Delivers in pinch
Alexander entered Sunday's game as a pinch hitter and went 1-for-1 with two RBI in a 5-1 win over the Athletics.

Advice: The score was tied when manager Torey Lovullo had Alexander, who was 0-for-8 during the series and 0-for-9 on the homestand, pinch hit for Joc Pederson with the bases loaded. The A's countered with righty reliever Austin Adams, a former Diamondback with whom Lovullo is familiar, and Alexander delivered a single through a drawn-in infield to give Arizona the lead. Alexander has scuffled of late, going 3-for-33 (.091) with zero RBI over the last 12 games and is down to .259 for the season. Rotowire.com Monday, 4:03 am

  • Leads charge Sunday
Malloy went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Angels.

Advice: Malloy's blast in the fourth inning, his third of the season, extended the Detroit lead to 4-0. The rookie has gotten off to a sluggish start in the majors, as he's still batting only .175 with a 38 percent strikeout rate after Sunday. Despite the struggles, Malloy has good power potential, and his prospect pedigree suggests that he'll figure it out at some point. However, fantasy managers may have to remain patient in the short term. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:39 pm
  • Justyn-Henry Malloy homers, Tigers edge Angels
Justyn-Henry Malloy went 2-for-3 with an inside-the-park homer on Sunday, leading the Tigers to a 7-6 win over the Angels.

Advice: Malloy has compiled cringe-inducing numbers this season since getting the call to the majors back in early June, but he made his presence felt in this one with a two-run, inside-the-park homer off Angels southpaw Tyler Anderson in the fourth inning. It was just his third big fly in 23 games so far in the big leagues as he’s also struck out 28 times in 73 plate appearances during that span. The 24-year-old was an on-base machine in the upper minors, but he’s still clearly a work in progress at the highest level. The big question will be how long the Tigers are going to be willing to let him continue to try to figure things out. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:07 pm
  • Hitting bench Sunday
McKinstry is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Advice: With southpaw Tyler Anderson on the hill for the Angels, the lefty-hitting McKinstry will duck out of the lineup. Ryan Kreidler will step in for McKinstry at shortstop. Rotowire.com Sunday, 12:12 pm

  • Exiting starting nine Sunday
Biggio is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Biggio will head to the bench after he started at third base over the first two games of the series, going 0-for-5 with two strikeouts. Chris Taylor will step in at third base in place of Biggio, who is slashing just .167/.265/.167 with a 35.3 percent strikeout rate since being acquired from the Blue Jays on June 12. • Retreating to bench Sunday
Freeman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Though he's on the bench for Sunday's series finale, Freeman appears to have moved back into a quasi-everyday role with Will Brennan (ribs) recently landing on the injured list. Freeman, who has slashed .169/.272/.268 thus far in June, had started in each of the Guardians' last five games. Rotowire.com Sunday, 10:57 am
