    • Juan Soto blasts 18th homer in loss on Saturday
Juan Soto blasted his 18th home run of the season on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to power the Yankees past the Red Sox in Boston.

Advice: Soto victimized Justin Slaten for his 392-foot (105.1 mph EV) solo shot in the seventh inning that pulled the Bombers to within two runs at 5-3. He also drew a pair of walks in the contest, finishing the evening 1-for-3 officially. The 25-year-old superstar has been a monster in his first season with the Yankees — slashing .319/.435/.599 with the aforementioned 18 long balls and 55 RBI. Rotoworld 53 minutes ago

    • George Kirby allows just unearned run in win
George Kirby didn’t allow an earned run while working six innings to get a win over the Rangers on Saturday.

Advice: He did allow an unearned run, and it’s worth pointing out he was the one who made the error. Kirby walked two, which makes this the first game since March 29 that the right-hander has walked more than one hitter in a game. The right-hander made up for it by striking out six in another strong start for the 26-year-old. Kirby has now allowed just four runs in his last four starts, and his ERA has lowered to 3.54, and his career ERA against Texas is a sparkling 1.08. He’ll get a chance to low it again versus Miami next week. Rotoworld Today, 7:05 pm

    • Tosses bullpen session
Darvish (groin) threw a bullpen session Friday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Darvish simulated three innings in the session, tossing 60 pitches. The veteran hurler said before throwing the bullpen that he expects the session to be sufficient ramp-up to allow him to return to the Padres' rotation without a rehab assignment. Per Acee, Darvish could start a game during San Diego's homestand against Milwaukee that begins next Thursday. Rotowire.com Today, 5:09 pm

    • Salvador Perez (knee) could return on Sunday
Salvador Perez (knee) is not in the Royals’ starting lineup for Saturday night’s battle against the Dodgers.

Advice: The star 34-year-old backstop was removed from Friday’s game due to discomfort in his right knee. He underwent an MRI exam on Saturday — the results of which were very favorable — and Perez is expected to return to the Royals’ lineup in a day or two. Austin Nola was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Saturday to add depth behind the plate. Rotoworld Today, 4:46 pm

    • Could be back Sunday
Perez has a right knee sprain but is expected to be back in the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers or Tuesday against Oakland, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.

Advice: An MRI revealed Perez is dealing with just a minor sprain and some inflammation in his right knee, which is encouraging news after he was pulled from Friday's game against Los Angeles. While Perez is expected to be back in the lineup as soon as Sunday, it's possible he'll DH for a few games to get his knee back to full strength, especially after the Royals called up Austin Nola on Saturday. • On bench Saturday
Perez (knee) isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Perez was pulled from Friday's game with right knee discomfort and will be held out of the lineup Saturday, giving way to Freddy Fermin behind the dish. While it's unclear how severe Perez's injury is, the Royals felt the need to call up catcher Austin Nola from Triple-A Omaha, indicating Perez could miss multiple games. Rotowire.com Today, 3:22 pm

    • Wilyer Abreu (ankle) sprinting at full speed
Red Sox’ manager Alex Cora told reporters on Saturday that Wilyer Abreu (ankle) is now sprinting at full speed.

Advice: The 24-year-old outfielder is expected to be ready for a minor league rehab assignment early next week, and should only need a couple of games to get his timing back before he’s ready to rejoin the Red Sox’ lineup. Before landing on the injured list in early June, Abreu had been hitting .272/.344/.485 with six homers, 22 RBI and seven stolen bases through his first 189 plate appearances. • Day off Saturday
Marte is not in the lineup for Saturday's contest against the Padres.

Advice: Marte was in the lineup for each of the previous four tilts, but he will receive a day of rest Saturday. DJ Stewart is handling right field for the Mets in this one. Rotowire.com Today, 10:04 am

    • Salvador Perez exits Friday with knee discomfort
Salvador Perez was removed from Friday’s game against the Dodgers with right knee discomfort.

Advice: Perez exited Friday’s contest in the eighth inning and told reporters afterwards that he felt a tweak in his right knee earlier in the game when he stood up quickly to catch a high fastball from Royals ace Cole Ragans. The 34-year-old ironman will presumably head for some additional testing and imaging to determine the severity of the issue if he’s not feeling better this weekend. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for the moment. Rotoworld Today, 5:57 am
