      Estrada (illness) struck out two and gave up an earned run on one hit and one walk over one inning out of the bullpen in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Athletics.

      Advice: Estrada relayed prior to Wednesday's game that he had been dealing with an illness, but it didn't deter the Padres from turning to him in the eighth inning while the Padres faced a 3-2 deficit. Though Estrada let in a run to give the Athletics a 4-2 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth, Donovan Solano tied the game with a two-run home run later in the frame before Jackson Merrill hit a walk-off blast in the bottom of the ninth. Estrada hasn't been used since Wednesday, but with his bout with the illness now a few more days in the rear-view mirror, he should be available for Sunday's series finale against the Mets.       Advice: De La Cruz made his impact in the ninth inning when he walked, stole second base and came home on Jeimer Candelario's double. The theft was De La Cruz's league-leading 35th of the season. His stolen-base attempts have dropped during the month of June.       Stanek allowed a hit but was not charged with a run over one-third of an inning, earning the save in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Rangers.

      Advice: Eduard Bazardo struggled in the ninth inning after being brought in with a six-run lead. He gave up three runs and Stanek allowed one inherited runner to score before getting Corey Seager on a groundout to end the contest. Stanek is gaining an increasingly notable role in the Mariners' bullpen, having earned four saves over his last six appearances, though he likely got this opportunity because Andres Munoz had pitched the last two days. Stanek is up to seven saves with a 4.00 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 28:10 K:BB over 27 innings. At this point, the Mariners' closer situation should be considered a committee between Stanek and Munoz, with the latter likely to receive assignments in the highest-leverage spots. His sixth RBI of the day came on a bases-loaded walk in the eighth. The outfielder has driven in 12 runs during his six-game hitting streak and he's batting .321 (17-for-53) in June. The 23-year-old is up to 14 homers, 36 RBI, 48 runs scored, three stolen bases and a .256/.348/.488 slash line through 69 contests overall as he continues to cement himself as a building block for the Tigers during their ongoing rebuild.     • Ryne Stanek gets one-out save against Rangers
      Ryne Stanek got the final out to get a save against the Rangers on Saturday.

      Advice: Stanek gets the save even in a 7-3 game because he faced the tying run. The right-hander allows a two-run single to Marcus Semien, but those runs were charged to Eduard Bazardo. He was able to get Corey Seager out to end the game, but it’s worth noting it took a terrific play by Tyler Locklear to get that out. Stanek now has seven saves in 2024.       Advice: The Guardians only managed eight hits in total on the day, all singles, but Kwan still kept rolling from the leadoff spot. The 26-year-old has hit safely in 10 straight games since returning from a hamstring injury, batting an incredible .500 (19-for-38) over that stretch to push his slash line on the season to .386/.447/.538 with four homers, three steals, 16 RBI and 39 runs in 42 contests.       Advice: Greene didn’t hit for a ton of power last year while recovering from a shoulder injury, so there was a narrative that he was more of a slap hitter, but that was never the case. The 23-year-old is now up to 14 home runs on the season to go along with 36 RBI and a .836 OPS. He looks to be in the midst of a full-on breakout and has a bright fantasy future ahead of him.       Advice: Trout has been out of action since being diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his left knee near the end of April. Los Angeles has thus far kept him on the 10-day injured list, but he doesn't seem to be anywhere near being activated -- or even beginning a minor-league rehab stint -- given his lack of baseball activity.       Scherzer (back/arm) is expected to throw 70-75 pitches in a rehab start with Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday, which will be his final rehab start barring a setback, Josh Kirshenbaum of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Saturday's start will be Scherzer's second rehab appearance, following up four scoreless innings Sunday. If all goes well, Scherzer will be ready to return to the active roster and make his 2024 debut after undergoing an offseason back surgery and dealing with thumb and forearm issues throughout his recovery.
