• Smashes three-run homer
De La Cruz went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run Thursday in an 8-4 victory against the Cubs.

Advice: De La Cruz, on the one-year anniversary of his MLB debut, turned a two-run Reds deficit into a one-run lead with a three-run blast in the third frame. The long ball was his second in three contests following a season-long 21-game homer drought. After tallying 13 homers and 35 steals over 98 games as a rookie last season, De La Cruz is nearing those marks with 11 long balls and 32 thefts through 63 contests in 2024. • Adael Amador up to six homers in last eight games
Rockies 2B prospect Adael Amador went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI on Thursday for Double-A Hartford.

Advice: It certainly feels like Amador has heard all of the recent chatter regarding his slow start this season at the plate in the upper minors as he’s exploded for six round-trippers over his last eight games for Triple-A Hartford. The 21-year-old top prospect still has plenty of work to do from a batting average standpoint, but the fact that he’s starting to hit for more over-the-fence pop is an extremely encouraging development. • X-rays negative on Nico Hoerner’s hand after HBP
X-rays came back negative on Nico Hoerner’s hand after being hit by a pitch during Thursday’s game against the Reds.

Advice: Hoerner remained in the contest and appears to have avoided serious injury after being plunked on the hand by a 96.5 mph fastball from Reds starter Hunter Greene during the early stages of the game. It doesn’t sound like he’s going to wind up missing any time. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:44 pm

  • Mookie Betts homers to lead Dodgers past Pirates
Mookie Betts went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer on Thursday, powering the Dodgers to an 11-7 victory over the Pirates.

Advice: Betts capped off Los Angeles’ six-run explosion in the fifth inning with his 10th round-tripper of the season, taking Pirates reliever Ben Heller deep to center field. It was his second big fly in his last four games and first multi-hit effort since May 28. He also walked twice in this one. The 31-year-old fantasy superstar is batting .312/.411/.512 with 46 runs scored, 10 homers, 35 RBI and nine stolen bases through 292 plate appearances over 63 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:54 pm

  • Oneil Cruz homers, steals base against Dodgers
Oneil Cruz went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer and also stole a base on Thursday in the Pirates’ loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Cruz started his professional career with Los Angeles before being traded to the Pirates back in 2017 and came back to haunt his former club in this one with a three-run homer off Dodgers closer Evan Phillips in the eighth inning. • Nick Gonzales hits fourth homer Thursday in loss
Nick Gonzales went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer on Thursday in the Pirates’ loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Gonzales took Dodgers starter Walker Buehler deep in the early stages of the contest for his fourth long ball of the season. The 25-year-old infielder has been an unexpected revelation for Pittsburgh, batting .315 (28-for-89) with four homers and two steals in 24 games since arriving back in the majors last month. Advice: De La Cruz took Javier Assad deep in the third inning for his 11th home run of the season. He’s only hitting .240, but with 11 home runs and 32 stolen bases already De La Cruz is on the fast track to having a first round ADP next season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:48 pm

  • Plays catch Thursday
Mateo (concussion) played catch on the field at Rogers Centre in Toronto on Thursday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Mateo was placed on the 7-day concussion injured list Monday after his teammate, Cedric Mullins, inadvertently hit him with the bat in the back of the helmet while in the on-deck circle. It's not clear yet whether Mateo will have a chance to return when first eligible June 10, but him being able to travel with the team and take part in some baseball activities is a encouraging sign. • Plays seven innings in field
Perdomo (knee) started at shortstop and went 1-for-3 with an RBI in a rehab game with Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.

Advice: Perdomo's rehab moved from the rookie-level Arizona Complex League to Reno on Wednesday, and the shortstop played seven innings in the field. Per Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com, the Diamondbacks aren't targeting a specific number of games or at-bats for Perdomo; instead, his return date depends on how he feels. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo confirmed Perdomo won't be activated from the 10-day injured list during the upcoming four-game series against the Padres that begin Thursday, but a return next week could be in the cards.
