    • Tanner Bibee strikes out seven in win over O’s
      Tanner Bibee struck out seven and was charged with two runs (one earned) over six innings on Monday in a win over the Orioles.

      Advice: Bibee kept things rolling from a strikeout standpoint in this one, recording at least seven strikeouts for the sixth time in his last seven outings dating back to May 19. The 25-year-old righty generated 14 swinging strikes, with half of them coming on his four-seam fastball, and finished with a solid 27 percent CSW. He’s continued to lean a bit more on his curveball a bit more in recent outings, which coincides with the recent uptick in strikeouts, and he appears primed for a strong second half of the year. He’ll bring a solid 3.50 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 106/22 K/BB ratio across 87 1/3 innings (16 starts) into a road matchup on Saturday against the Royals. Rotoworld Monday, 6:26 pm
       
    • Season-high 10 Ks in win
      Abbott (6-6) picked up the win Friday, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk over 5.2 innings in a 5-2 victory over the Red Sox. He struck out 10.

      Advice: The 10 Ks were a season high for Abbott and marked the third time in 36 career big-league starts he's reached double digits. The 25-year-old lefty hasn't had consistent swing-and-miss stuff this year -- he hasn't fanned more than six batters in an outing since May 4 -- and continues to have trouble keeping the ball in the park, as both runs against him Friday came on solo shots, but he's been making it all work so far in 2024. Abbott will take a 3.40 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 70:26 K:BB through 84.2 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Pirates.     • Andrew Abbott strikes out season-high 10 in win
      Andrew Abbott fanned 10 while allowing two runs in 5 2/3 innings Friday in a win over the Red Sox.

      Advice: The 10 strikeouts topped his previous season high by two. Abbott yielded homers to Connor Wong and Jarren Duran, but no further damage was done. There still isn’t much at all to like about Abbott’s peripherals, but he has reduced his walk rate, and this is the right year to be a big flyball pitcher.     • Ekes out quality start Wednesday
      Pfaadt (3-6) took the loss Wednesday, giving up three runs on five hits and four walks over 6.1 innings as the Diamondbacks fell 3-1 to the Nationals. He failed to strike out a batter.

      Advice: To say the 25-year-old right-hander wasn't fooling anyone Wednesday would be an understatement. Pfaadt not only came up empty in strikeouts while issuing a season high in walks, he didn't generate a single swinging strike among his 77 pitches. He was still able to produce enough weak contact to deliver his second straight quality start and eighth of the season, however. Pfaadt will take a 4.37 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 84:22 K:BB through 90.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Twins.       Ryan allowed one run on six hits and one walk while striking out five batters over six innings in a no-decision against Tampa Bay on Wednesday.

      Advice: Ryan gave up a third-inning solo homer to Isaac Paredes but otherwise kept the Rays off the scoreboard. The right-handed hurler racked up an impressive 19 swinging strikes, though he finished with a modest five punchouts. Ryan recorded his third straight quality start and his 11th of the season, which is tied for fifth in the majors.     • Joe Ryan pitches well in no-decision vs. Rays
      Joe Ryan was terrific in a no-decision against the Rays on Wednesday evening, surrendering just one run on six hits over his six innings of work.

      Advice: The 28-year-old hurler struck out five batters on the night while allowing only one base on balls. The lone tally against him came on a 359-foot solo blast off the bat of Isaac Paredes in the third inning. Ryan generated a whopping 19 swings and misses on 94 pitches in the ballgame — 12 of those on his fastball — while registering a strong CSW of 36 percent.       Bibee (5-2) earned the win against the Mariners on Wednesday, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out 12 over six scoreless innings.

      Advice: Bibee was dominant, generating 20 swinging strikes on 93 pitches and surpassing last week's career high in strikeouts with 12. Bibee had allowed seven total runs in his first two June starts, but he bounced back in a big way Wednesday and has registered 30 strikeouts over 16.1 innings in three June outings.       Tanner Bibee struck out 12 batters in six shutout innings on Wednesday in an 8-0 win over the Mariners. He scattered three hits and walked just one.

      Advice: This was Bibee’s second straight start where he struck out double digit batters - the first two times of his career. His slider and curveball were both lethal while his fastball velocity stayed above 95 MPH and induced five swings and misses. His fastball has been hit hard this season with opposing hitters slugging .581 against it and its -14 Run Value is the lowest for any pitch single pitch in the league.       Brandon Pfaadt logged a quality start in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Nationals, giving up three runs on five hits across his 6 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander astonishingly did not record a strikeout in the contest while issuing four free passes. Still, he managed to keep the Nats off the board completely until Jesse Winker’s go-ahead two-run shot in the sixth inning. He then exited with two men on and one out in the seventh inning, and one of those runners ultimately came around to score as well. Pfaadt didn’t get a single swing and miss on any of his 77 pitches in the contest, registering an underwhelming CSW of only 23 percent.
