• Awaiting MRI results
Lewis (quadriceps) underwent an MRI and is awaiting results after exiting Thursday's game against the Royals, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Advice: Lewis was forced to exit the game after injuring himself running the bases in the third inning. He described the issue as feeling like a cramp, though nothing official has been announced. Lewis's status will become clearer once the results of the MRI are known. Rotowire.com 4 minutes ago

  • Rough start to the year
Mikolas (0-1) took the loss against the Dodgers on Thursday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: The Dodgers jumped out to a quick lead on Mikolas, scoring twice in the first inning before the 35-year-old right-hander allowed three more runs on a pair of homers in the third. It's certainly not the start to the season Mikolas wanted after he struggled to a 9-13 record with a 4.78 ERA across 35 starts last year. He'll look to get on track in his next outing, tentatively lined up for early next week in San Diego. Rotowire.com 4 minutes ago

  • Set for MRI
Jackson suffered tightness in his lower back and is set for an MRI on Thursday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Jackson entered the game in the seventh inning and allowed two singles and a walk to the Padres before being removed due to the injury. He suffered from a similar issue in 2023, a concerning development given that was his first outing of the new campaign. A timeline for his return should become clearer following Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

  • Yields save chance
Lange did not appear in Thursday's 1-0 win over the White Sox. Jason Foley recorded the final two outs to earn his first save of the season.

Advice: It's unclear whether Lange is injured or if he's fallen in the bullpen hierarchy -- to this point there has been no word of an injury. He last pitched March 24, striking out one batter in a scoreless inning against the Rays in Grapefruit League action. Lange led the team in saves by a good margin last season, recording 26 to Foley's seven, but Foley has the edge in terms of velocity. Shelby Miller and Andrew Chafin bridged the gap from starter Tarik Skubal to Foley in the ninth. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

  • Fraley has two hits, two runs, and SB on Thursday
Jake Fraley went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored in the Reds win over the Nationals on Thursday.

Advice: The injury to T.J. Freidl opened up the opportunity for both Fraley and Will Benson to be in the starting lineup. Fraley took the chance and reminded people exactly how good he was when healthy last season when he hit .256/.339/.443 with 15 homers, 65 RBI, and 21 stolen bases over 380 plate appearances. The Reds hit him fifth in the lineup on Thursday which will lead to plenty of RBI opportunities, and he already showed off his speed in game one. He should be rostered in most leagues while Friedl is sidelined. Rotoworld 11 minutes ago

  • Grabs first Dodgers win
Glasnow (1-0) earned the win Thursday against St. Louis. He allowed one run on two hits and a walk over six innings while striking out five.

Advice: Paul Goldschmidt's solo home run in the fourth inning was the lone blemish on Glasnow's line Thursday and one of just two hits allowed by the right-hander. Glasnow needed just 81 pitches to make it through six innings as he picked up his first win with the Dodgers after taking a no-decision in LA's opener in South Korea. The 30-year-old Glasnow has allowed just two runs through 11 innings this season after going 10-7 with a 3.53 ERA and 162 strikeouts in 21 starts with Tampa Bay last year. • Eddie Rosario homers in loss on Thursday
Eddie Rosario went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in an Opening Day loss to the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: Rosario was surprisingly named the starter in center field, a position he has rarely played in recent years. However, he showed why with a 390-foot home run in the seventh inning that left the bat at 101.3 mph. Rosario hit .255/.305/.450 with 21 homers, 74 RBI, and three stolen bases for the Braves last season and will play his home games in another hitter-friendly park. The lineup around him may not be ground enough to rack up tons of RBIs or runs, but he remains a good deep-league option. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago

  • Frankie Montas turns back clock w/ Opening Day win
Frankie Montas held the Nationals in check on Thursday, throwing six shutout innings, while striking out four and allowing just four hits.

Advice: No matter who the opponent was, it was a great moment for Montas, who was limited to just 1 1/3 innings in 2023 while coming off of surgery. His fastball velocity was down a little bit from what we’re used to but 95.4 mph in the first start of the season is nothing to be concerned about He continued to ride his splitter, throwing it 27 percent of the time and getting three whiffs on nine swings. Overall, Montas had a solid 21 percent whiff rate and 28 percent CSW, but he was facing a pretty mediocre offense. He’s not a recommended start next week against the Phillies. • Josiah Gray knocked around in Opening Day loss
Josiah Gray was knocked around in an Opening Day loss to the Reds, allowing seven runs on eight hits over four innings.

Advice: Gray allowed five extra-base hits, including two home runs to Nick Martini. While he did post an impressive 41 percent whiff rate, he also had an average exit velocity allowed of over 100 mph on five of the six different pitch types he threw on Thursday. Gray is still young, and he’s clearly continuing to make tweaks to his arsenal, but there’s just not a lot here to get excited about. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago
