• Suffers hand fracture
Betts (wrist) suffered a fractured bone in his left hand in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Royals.

Advice: Betts exited the game in the seventh inning in a heap of pain after taking a fastball off his left hand/wrist and he'll now be sidelined for a significant amount of time. On the bright side, manager Dave Roberts said that the 31-year-old will not need surgery to repair the injury. Betts will likely be placed on the injured list Monday and in his absence, Miguel Rojas could step into a starting role at shortstop for Los Angeles. Rotowire.com Today, 4:01 pm

  • Miguel Vargas expected to join Dodgers in Colorado
Miguel Vargas is expected to join the Dodgers in Colorado on Monday with Mookie Betts (hand) landing on the injured list.

Advice: Vargas was just optioned to Triple-A on Wednesday, but he’ll head right back with Betts heading to the injured list. Dodgers’ skipper Dave Roberts said that Miguel Rojas and Enrique Hernandez are likely to see the bulk of the action at shortstop with Betts sidelined, but that Vargas will fill a role on the team’s bench. If he gets a chance at starts to hit though, it’s going to be hard for Roberts to keep Vargas’ bat out of the lineup. Rotoworld Today, 4:00 pm

  • Shohei Ohtani homers twice in Dodgers’ win
Shohei Ohtani launched his 18th and 19th homers of the year Sunday off the Royals’ Brady Singer in a 3-0 win.

Advice: The Dodgers’ other run came on the second of back-to-back homers from Freddie Freeman in the sixth. Ohtani’s first homer today was crushed 451 feet to center. Ohtani had been slumping some of late, having come in at .216/.310/.412 in June. He’s still fifth in the majors in OPS (.976), sixth in average (.309), fourth in homers and tied for fifth in runs scored (53). Rotoworld Today, 3:46 pm

  • Improving, but iffy for Monday
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Bichette is improving in his recovery from a right calf injury, but the skipper declined to reveal whether the shortstop was available off the bench for Sunday's 7-6 win over the Guardians, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. "Hopefully it's not too much longer," Schneider said.

Advice: Bichette missed out on a second consecutive start Saturday due to the injury, and Schneider's comments offered no assurance that the 26-year-old will be back in the lineup Monday versus the Red Sox. Isiah Kiner-Falefa has manned shortstop for the past two games in Bichette's absence, opening up one start apiece for Ernie Clement and Addison Barger at third base. Rotowire.com Today, 3:45 pm

  • Mookie Betts diagnosed with fractured left hand
Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts told reporters after Sunday’s game that Mookie Betts has been diagnosed with a fractured left hand.

Advice: The unfortunate injury occurred when he was hit by a 98 mph fastball during Sunday’s game against the Royals. Roberts relayed that while the injury will not require surgery, it will take time to heal. He wouldn’t elaborate on that timetable, other than to say that the injury will not end his 2024 season. Expect Miguel Rojas to see increased action at shortstop while the 31-year-old superstar is shelved. Rotoworld Today, 3:45 pm

  • Rowdy Tellez goes 3-for-5, drives in two
Rowdy Tellez went 3-for-5 with two RBI as the Pirates topped the Rockies 8-2 on Sunday.

Advice: Tellez is up to .419 with nine RBI in just 31 at-bats this month. There still isn’t really any mixed-league value here, but it should be quite a while before he’s again left out of the Pirates lineup against a right-hander. Rotoworld Today, 3:25 pm

  • Adael Amador finishes hitless in loss to Pirates
Adael Amador went 0-for-3 on Sunday, leaving him 3-for-26 as a major leaguer.

Advice: Amador has hit the ball hard on occasion, but he’s sporting a .115/.115/.115 line through seven games. It doesn’t sound like Brendan Rodgers will be sidelined for long, so Amador will probably head back to the minors soon. Rotoworld Today, 3:24 pm

  • Exits after being hit by pitch
Betts exited Sunday's contest with the Royals in the seventh inning after being hit in the left hand by a pitch, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

Advice: Betts took a 97.9 mph fastball from reliever Dan Altavilla off his left hand in the bottom of the seventh inning, immediately exiting the contest afterwards. The 31-year-old was in an obvious amount of pain and more information on his status will likely come following the conclusion of the game. Rotowire.com Today, 3:11 pm

  • Max Kepler (elbow) returns to Twins lineup
Max Kepler (elbow) returned to the Twins’ starting lineup for the nightcap of Sunday’s doubleheader against the Athletics.

Advice: Kepler was held out of the team’s starting lineup on Saturday — before that game was washed out by rain. He then sat out the first game of Sunday’s twin bill with a left-hander on the hill for the A’s, but he’s right back in his customary cleanup spot in the order for the second game on Sunday night.
