    • Aiming to return by end of July
Trout (knee) has been swinging a bat as part of his rehab activities and is targeting a return to action by the end of July, per the Associated Press.

Advice: Trout hasn't yet done work in the outfield, but he's anticipating being able to rejoin the Angels at the end of July. The future Hall of Famer told Bally Sports West, "I'm pretty sure it's going to be pretty soon" when referring to a potential return, though he didn't specify a date. Trout hasn't played in a game since going 0-for-3 against Philadelphia on April 29. It's not yet clear if he'll play in any minor-league rehab games prior to rejoining the big club. • On base three times
Albies went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Padres.

Advice: Albies began his day with a double and later led off the fourth with a single before stealing second and coming around to score on a base hit from Matt Olson. Albies has notched a double in three straight games and now has four multi-hit efforts in July. The 27-year-old switch hitter heads into the break slashing .258/.312/.410 with eight homers, 44 RBI, 47 runs, eight steals and a 24:59 BB:K in 381 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 7:40 am

    • Clubs 19th homer
Alonso went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.

Advice: He got the Mets on the board in the fourth inning by crushing a German Marquez two-seamer deep to left field. Alonso snapped an 11-game homer drought with the blast, and he heads into the All-Star break -- and an appearance in the Home Run Derby -- slashing .240/.319/.454 with 19 homers and 51 RBI in 95 contests. • Swings off tee Sunday
Jung (wrist) said he took 15 swings with a regular bat off a tee Sunday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: According to Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News, Jung admitted that he's not certain of his next step, but the 26-year-old plans to continue swinging the bat over the All-Star break this week. If Jung incurs no setbacks with his surgically repaired right wrist while doing so, the Rangers could then map out a minor-league rehab assignment coming out of the break. Jung previously appeared in four rehab games in June and looked to be on the cusp of returning from the 60-day injured list before experiencing inflammation in his wrist and having his activation date pushed back. • Dazzles in first rehab outing
Williams (back) struck out all three batters he faced in a perfect inning during his rehab appearance Sunday with High-A Wisconsin.

Advice: Williams has been on the shelf all season while recovering from a pair of stress fractures in his back, but he didn't exhibit any signs of rust in his first game action of 2024. He needed just 14 pitches to strike out the side and generated four swings-and-misses during his brief time on the mound. The Brewers may have Williams shift his rehab assignment to Double-A Biloxi or Triple-A Nashville for a tougher test following the All-Star break, but the right-hander may not require too many more tune-up outings in the minors if he continues to look as sharp as he did Sunday. Williams should eventually supplant Trevor Megill as the Brewers' preferred option to close games once he's reinstated from the 60-day injured list. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:31 pm

    • Luis Arraez (thumb) won’t play in All-Star Game
Luis Arraez (thumb) will not participate in the All-Star Game next week.

Advice: The 27-year-old second baseman said that it was a tough decision to opt out, but that he felt his jammed left thumb needed the rest. Expect the National League to name a replacement to the squad in the upcoming days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:20 pm

    • Ozzie Albies reaches base three times in victory
Ozzie Albies went 2-for-3 with a double, walk and a run scored on Sunday as the Braves triumphed over the Padres to wrap up the first half of the season.

Advice: Albies smacked a one-out double off of Randy Vasquez in the opening inning but wound up getting stranded at third base. He then led off the fourth inning with a single, swiped second base and raced around to score the Braves’ first run on an RBI single off the bat of Matt Olson. The 27-year-old second baseman finishes the first half hitting .258/.312/.410 with eight homers, 44 RBI and eight stolen bases (in nine attempts). Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:50 pm

    • Getting breather Sunday
Arraez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: After rapping out three hits in Saturday's 4-0 win to break out of a 1-for-15 funk over his previous four starts, Arraez will head to the bench for the series finale and the final game before the All-Star break. Jurickson Profar will take over as the Padres' leadoff hitter in place of Arraez, who had started in each of the Friars' last 13 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:57 pm

    • Williams (back) Ks three in first rehab outing
Devin Williams (back) struck out the side in his first rehab appearance Sunday with High-A Wisconsin.

Advice: Like he never left. Returning from stress fractures in his back, Williams threw nine out of his 14 pitches for strikes as he made quick work of the West Michigan Whitecaps. The Brewers will almost certainly want him to make a handful of rehab appearances, but it shouldn’t be much longer before he returns to the late-inning mix. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:44 pm
