      Snell didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against Pittsburgh, allowing four runs on four hits and four walks across 3.1 innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: Snell looked sharp to begin his first start after a month-long IL stint, keeping the Pirates scoreless after three frames. However, the 31-year-old crumbled in the fourth inning, yielding two walks, a hit-by-pitch and an infield single to let a run score and leave the bases loaded with one out for Sean Hjelle. Hjelle gave up a grand slam to the first batter he faced and pushed Snell's earned run total to four. Snell hasn't completed five innings in a start this season and is 0-3 with an 11.40 ERA through 15.0 innings. He's projected for a home start against the Phillies on Monday.       Bichette went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's 9-2 win over the White Sox.

      Advice: Bichette's power has been largely absent this season -- this was just his third homer of the season through 45 contests. Two of them have come over the last 10 games, a span in which he's hitting .351 (13-for-37) with seven RBI and four doubles. The shortstop is slashing a middling .233/.289/.349 with 19 RBI, 15 runs scored, four stolen bases, nine doubles and a triple through 187 plate appearances, though he's starting to turn things around.       Bo Bichette went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in a 9-2 win over the White Sox on Wednesday.

      Advice: Bichette’s numbers continue to improve after a cold start. He added two hits on Wednesday, including a two-run homer off Nick Nastrini in the second inning. He added another run for the Blue Jays in the fourth with a base hit to score Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The 26-year-old shortstop is now hitting .233/.289/.349 with three homers, 19 RBI, and four steals across 187 plate appearances.       Daulton Varsho went 1-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored, two RBI, and two walks against the White Sox on Wednesday.

      Advice: After drawing a walk in the first inning, Varsho brought two runs in to score on a triple in the second. After walking once again in the fourth, he crossed home plate on a base hit by Bo Bichette.     • Bryce Miller allows three home runs in loss
      Bryce Miller allowed five earned runs on five hits, including three homers, across six innings in a loss to the Yankees on Wednesday. He struck out four and walked none.

      Advice: Aaron Judge and Juan Soto jumped all over Miller in this one accounting for all of his earned runs with three combined homers. Miller was visibly frustrated as the pitches they hit out weren’t even bad: Soto took two sinkers on the edge to left field and Judge golfed a low and away slider into the short porch. This was the type of game you have to tip your cap and move on from. Miller will take a 3.53 ERA into his next start on Monday at home against the Astros. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:11 pm
       
    • Blake Snell gives up four runs in loss to Pirates
      Blake Snell had mixed results in his return from the injured list on Wednesday, giving up four runs on four hits over 3 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Pirates.

      Advice: On the plus side for fantasy managers, Snell piled up five strikeouts on the evening, but he also issued four free passes. He kept the Pirates’ offense off the board through the first three frames but ran into serious trouble in the fourth. There, he loaded the bases on a pair of walks and an infield single, then plunked Andrew McCutchen to force in a run. He then turned the ball over to the bullpen — who immediately gave up a grand slam to allow all three inherited runners to score. Snell got an impressive 15 swings and misses on 87 pitches on the night — nine on his heater — while posting a CSW of 25 percent. He’ll look to improve upon a cringe-inducing 11.40 ERA and 2.07 WHIP when he does battle against the Phillies on Monday in San Francisco. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:06 pm
       
    • Bryan Reynolds blasts grand slam in loss to Giants
      Bryan Reynolds clobbered a grand slam in the fourth inning on Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Pirates past the visiting Giants.

      Advice: The Pirates entered the home half of the fourth inning engaged in a scoreless tie. They pushed a run across as Andrew McCutchen was plunked with the bases loaded, then Reynolds greeted Sean Hjelle with a 386-foot (100.1 mph EV) grand slam that made it a 5-0 ballgame. The 29-year-old outfielder also singled in the contest, finishing the night 2-for-5. On the season, he’s now hitting .251/.335/.412 to go with six homers, 26 RBI and four swipes.     • Tanner Scott earns save against Brewers
      Tanner Scott worked a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday against the Brewers. He allowed one hit and struck out one.

      Advice: It’s comforting to see Scott get through an inning without walking a batter and this marked three out of four appearances where he hasn’t walked any. He’s thrown at least 55% fastballs in each of those four outings and that might be his adjustment to push that walk rate down.
