• Idle against lefty
Wisely is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Wisely will hit the bench for the second day in a row while the Giants face off against another southpaw (Jordan Montgomery). Tyler Fitzgerald will get the nod at shortstop Wednesday, but Wisely should see the majority of the starts at the position while Nick Ahmed (wrist) remains on the injured list. • Exits starting nine
Marte is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Giants.

Advice: Marte had started each of the previous 18 contests for the Diamondbacks but will receive some rest during Wednesday's afternoon tilt. Blaze Alexander will cover second base for Marte. Rotowire.com Today, 10:15 am

  • Hits game-tying homer
Freeman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Royals.

Advice: Freeman's homer tied the game at 5-5 in the seventh inning. He hit eighth Tuesday, the lowest he's been in the order since May 9, though it was expected he'd see less time in the top-third of the lineup following Steven Kwan's return from a hamstring injury. Freeman is batting a respectable .256 over his last 20 games, though his season average remains at .219 with a .666 OPS, five homers, 24 RBI, 33 runs scored and eight stolen bases through 54 contests. • Jeff McNeil rides pine for third straight game
Jeff McNeil is sitting versus a left-hander for a third straight game on Wednesday.

Advice: McNeil would have played Tuesday had Trevor Williams not been scratched, but after he was replaced by a southpaw, McNeil again rode the pine. McNeil hasn’t actually been any worse against lefties (.246/.290/.323) than righties (.217/.299/.319) this year, but it probably is the case that Jose Iglesias is the better option versus southpaws. • Hitting bench against lefty again
McNeil is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Mets have opposed left-handed starting pitchers in three straight games, and the lefty-hitting McNeil has been on the bench for each of those contests. McNeil hasn't been a strict platoon player for much of his tenure with the Mets, but manager Carlos Mendoza has chosen to limit the 32-year-old's exposure to southpaws while he's mustered a modest .275 wOBA over 69 plate appearances against lefties on the season. McNeil hasn't fared much better against right-handed pitching either (.281 wOBA in 155 plate appearances), but the Mets haven't offered any indication that he's at risk of losing out on starts in those matchups. • Records steal as pinch runner
Bliss entered Tuesday's win over the Athletics as a pinch runner in the top of the eighth inning and recorded a steal of second base. He did not log a subsequent plate appearance.

Advice: The speedy rookie is already up to three swipes over his first six big-league games, with those numbers coming on the heels of a 28-for-34 showing in the steals department at Triple-A Tacoma. Bliss has seen only one ball drop in thus far over his 15 plate appearances, but he's maintained a presence on the basepaths and set himself up for stolen-base opportunities by also drawing four walks in that span. • Pops fifth homer
Torres went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Twins.

Advice: He took Bailey Ober deep in the second inning to get the Yankees on the board, giving Torres his fifth long ball of the year. The second baseman has hit safely in five straight games and 10 of the last 11 as he shows signs of emerging from his season-long slump -- over that 11-game stretch he's slashing .297/.372/.514 with two doubles and two homers. • On base three times
Rengifo went 2-for-3 with a walk, a steal and an RBI in Tuesday's win over the Padres.

Advice: Rengifo plated the Angels' first run with a base hit in the third and wound up being stranded on second after notching his 14th steal and second in as many games. He now has at least a hit in four straight games and is slashing .390/.419/.512 with three RBI, eight runs and a 2:4 BB:K in 43 plate appearances since May 24. Rotowire.com Today, 7:33 am

  • On base four times in win
Marte went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Giants.

Advice: Marte notched three hits for the second time over his last three games and for the seventh time this season. He now has at least a hit in five of his last six games and boasts a 4:3 BB:K over that span as well. For the year, the 30-year-old is slashing .278/.337/.502 with 12 homers, 32 RBI, 40 runs and a 21:51 BB:K in 270 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 6:59 am
