  • Walker fans 11 over eight stellar innings
Taijuan Walker struck out 11 while allowing two runs over eight innings in a win over the Padres on Thursday.

Advice: Walker had everything working, turning in easily his best start as a member of the Diamondbacks. Facing the Padres helps, too. The right-hander allowed just four hits without issuing a walk, running his record to 3-1 with a 3.94 ERA through five starts overall. One bright spot is his 33/7 K/BB ratio in those 29 2/3 innings of work. Walker will face a much stiffer test Wednesday when the D'backs face the Nationals in the nation's capital. • Almonte bops first home run of 2017 season
Abraham Almonte hit his first home run of 2017 in a win over the Astros on Thursday.

Advice: Almonte led off the fifth inning with a solo dinger against Astros starter Mike Fiers. The 27-year-old is batting .234/.390/.362 while playing both left and right field for the Tribe through 18 games. He'll remain a fourth outfielder for the club going forward. • Tillman goes five innings in last rehab start
Chris Tillman (shoulder) scattered eight hits, six runs (four earned) and one walk over five innings in Thursday's rehab start for High-A Frederick.

Advice: He added two strikeouts while throwing 48 of his 71 pitches for strikes. Obviously the results weren't there for Tillman, but the right-hander said his shoulder felt good and that's all the Orioles were concerned about. He's tentatively expected to return against the Red Sox Tuesday at Fenway Park. Rotoworld.com Today, 6:53 pm

  • Buddy Boshers joining Twins on Friday
Buddy Boshers will be recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Friday.

Advice: He'll take the roster spot vacated by Hector Santiago, who will be away from the team while he attends his grandmother's funeral. Under normal circumstances the Twins would have to keep Boshers in the minors for at least 10 days (he was optioned to Rochester after Sunday's game), but that rule is being waived because Santiago is going on the bereavement list. Boshers tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in his only outing for the Twins this year. Rotoworld.com Today, 4:29 pm

  • Antonio Senzatela takes first loss
Antonio Senzatela took his first loss Thursday after allowing four runs in six innings against the Nationals.

Advice: Four runs in six innings against the Nationals in Coors Field actually seems like a pretty good showing; consider that the Nationals totaled 42 runs over their other 30 offensive innings in the series. Senzatela, now 3-1 with a 2.81 ERA, would be intriguing for fantasy purposes if he pitched anywhere else. Rotoworld.com Today, 3:51 pm
  • Gregorius expected to be activated Friday
Yankees manager Joe Girardi expects Didi Gregorius (shoulder) to be activated from the disabled list on Friday.

Advice: Gregorious is ready to roll after completing a five-game rehab assignment with High-A Tampa. It took him a little over a month to recover from a strained shoulder. With Gregorius taking over as the everyday shortstop, Ronald Torreyes will head back to the bench. Rotoworld.com Today, 2:28 pm

  • Carson Smith (elbow) had a setback
Carson Smith (elbow) recently had a setback in his recovery from Tommy John surgery.

Advice: That might explain why Smith was just transferred to the 60-day DL. Smith has resumed long tossing but hasn't thrown off a mound in two weeks. The Red Sox were hoping to have Smith back in early June but that's no longer an option. The 27-year-old has yet to pitch a game for the Red Sox since arriving in a trade with Seattle in December 2015. Rotoworld.com Today, 2:15 pm

  • Jeremy Hellickson moves to 4-0
Jeremy Hellickson limited the Marlins to one run over six innings Thursday to improve to 4-0 with a 1.80 ERA.

Advice: He struck out one in this one, and he's fanned only 11 batters in five starts total, though it obviously hasn't hurt him. He's also given up just two homers in 30 innings so far, even though his flyball rate was higher than usual entering today. We still wouldn't trust him as a mixed-league starting pitcher. Rotoworld.com Today, 1:54 pm
  • Hector Neris notches third save
Hector Neris needed just seven pitches to pick up his third save of the year Thursday against the Marlins.

Advice: Six of those were strikes. Neris protected a 2-1 lead after Joaquin Benoit set him up in the eighth. The Phillies' front office wanted Benoit getting these saves, but Pete Mackanin has gotten his way so far. While no one has named Neris the closer, it's clear he's Mackanin's choice. Rotoworld.com Today, 1:51 pm
  • Jim Johnson gives up two runs to Mets
After entering the ninth with a four-run lead, Jim Johnson gave up two runs before finishing off the Mets on Thursday.

Advice: Johnson had a strong spring and a fine first couple of weeks, but he's given up four runs and seven hits over his last two appearances. It probably hasn't helped that today was just his second appearance in 10 days. His closing gig is safe, but it'd be nice to see him bounce back next time out. Rotoworld.com Today, 1:31 pm
  • Harvey loses command, velocity in loss
Matt Harvey, moved up in the rotation because Noah Syndergaard was scratched, gave up six runs and walked five in 4 1/3 innings Thursday in his start against the Braves.

Advice: Harvey looked strong in the first, but he lost command and velocity in the second. Maybe he was off because of the late notice that he'd be pitching in this one, but it was a really discouraging outing from a guy who had been throwing well. Rotoworld.com Today, 1:28 pm

  • Red Sox transfer Carson Smith to 60-day DL
Red Sox transferred RHP Carson Smith from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

Advice: The move clears a 40-man roster spot for infielder Chase d'Arnaud, who was claimed off waivers from the Braves on Thursday. Smith is still working his way back from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery. He should be ready sometime in June. Rotoworld.com Today, 10:57 am

  • Tigers option Kyle Ryan to AAA Toledo
Tigers optioned LHP Kyle Ryan to Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: The move clears a 25-man roster spot for shortstop Jose Iglesias, who's been activated from the 7-day concussion disabled list. Ryan has allowed five runs on nine hits and seven walks in 5 2/3 innings of relief this season for Detroit. Rotoworld.com Today, 8:28 am

  • Tanner Roark wins at Coors
Tanner Roark pitched five innings of two-run ball in a win over the Rockies on Wednesday.

Advice: Not bad for a Coors Field outing. Roark has given up a total of two homers while going 3-0 with a 3.64 ERA in 29 2/3 innings. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 10:55 pm
  • Harrison hits lead-off home run, scores twice
Josh Harrison went 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored in a 6-5 victory over the Cubs on Wednesday.

Advice: He led off the first inning with a home run off Jon Lester. In the second inning he walked and scored on an Andrew McCutchen double. Harrison owns a .308 batting average with two homers, seven runs, four RBI and two steals in 20 games. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:44 pm
  • Lester allows five runs, suffers first loss
Jon Lester coughed up six runs -- five earned -- in 5 2/3 innings and took a loss to the Pirates on Wednesday.

Advice: His night started by allowing a solo homer to leadoff batter Josh Harrison in the first inning. He surrendered five runs in the first two innings, then settled down to throw three scoreless innings before allowing a solo homer to Josh Bell in the sixth. Lester allowed 10 hits and two walks in total while striking out five. He has yet to win a game after five starts. He will take his 3.68 ERA into a home matchup with the Phillies on Tuesday. • Gregorius (shoulder) could return Friday
Didi Gregorius (shoulder) is on track to return against the Orioles this weekend.

Advice: Gregorius could be back as soon as Friday. The 27-year-old has looked sharp during his minor league rehab assignment, hitting .429 with a homer in four games for High-A Tampa. Gregorius has spent the past month recovering from a shoulder strain he suffered at the World Baseball Classic. Ronald Torreyes has been kept his seat warm at shortstop over the first few weeks. • Tillman (shoulder) set for next rehab start
Chris Tillman (shoulder) is slated to throw around 75 pitches in his next rehab start Thursday for High-A Frederick.

Advice: Tillman allowed three runs over 3 2/3 innings Saturday in his second rehab start, but he said he felt better than his first. The hope is that he could be ready to be activated on May 2 against the Red Sox, but it depends on how things go on Thursday. The veteran right-hander has been dealing with shoulder issues since the offseason. Rotoworld.com Monday, 12:31 pm

  • Twins option Buddy Boshers back to Triple-A
Twins optioned LHP Buddy Boshers to Triple-A Rochester

Advice: The 28-year-old pitched well against the Tigers on Sunday, hurling 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, but because of that he wouldn't be available the next few days. The Twins won't announce a corresponding roster move until Monday. Rotoworld.com Sunday, 3:16 pm

  • Neris allows run in non-save situation
Hector Neris allowed a run in a non-save situation Sunday versus the Braves.

Advice: Neris gave up two walks and two hits in an ugly ninth inning, but the Phillies were able to hang on for a 5-2 victory. Neris also struggled in an appearance Friday against Atlanta but earned his second save of the season. He'll continue to split save opportunities with Joaquin Benoit. Rotoworld.com Sunday, 1:21 pm
  • Didi Gregorius (shoulder) on rehab assignment
Didi Gregorius (shoulder) has gone 2-for-6 at the plate while playing six innings in each game in his first two rehab contests with High-A Tampa.

Advice: Working his way back from a right shoulder strain, Gregorius is expected to be activated from the disabled list in early May assuming all goes well. Ronald Torreyes has been filling in at shortstop for the Yankees. Rotoworld.com Sunday, 6:41 am

  • Buddy Boshers recalled from Triple-A
Twins recalled LHP Buddy Boshers from Triple-A Rochester.

  • Antonio Senzatela runs record to 3-0
Antonio Senzatela allowed just one earned run and four hits with no walks over seven innings in a victory Saturday against the Giants.

Advice: Senzatela also struck out three batters in the 90-pitch quality start, running his record to 3-0 while lowering his ERA to 2.08. The Venezuelan right-hander has rattled off three straight quality starts, lasting at least seven innings in each of the outings. Despite the solid showings his fantasy ceiling remains rather limited since half of his games are at Coors Field. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 10:28 pm
  • Tillman to start for Frederick on Thursday
Chris Tillman (shoulder) will make another rehab start Thursday for High-A Frederick.

Advice: Tillman had been slated to start for Frederick on Saturday but due to poor weather conditions, he'll instead travel to Harrisburg and make the start for Double-A Bowie. He could be ready to rejoin the Orioles rotation after Thursday's outing. He got a late start this year while battling shoulder issues. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 3:03 pm

  • Tillman to start for Double-A Bowie Saturday
Chris Tillman (shoulder) will make his minor league rehab start with Double-A Bowie on Saturday.

Advice: Tillman had been scheduled to pitch for High-A Frederick, but weather concerns have forced the O's to change their plans. He's expected to need one additional rehab start after this before he's ready to rejoin the Orioles' rotation. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 9:39 am

  • Josh Harrison not in Pirates lineup Saturday
Josh Harrison is not in the Pirates' starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: It's just a regular day off for the veteran second baseman. Adam Frazier will slide over to second base to fill in for Harrison while John Jaso draws a start in right field. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 9:09 am
  • Neris and Benoit continue to share closer job
Phillies' manager Pete Mackanin reiterated after Friday's game that Joaquin Benoit and Hector Neris will continue to share the closer's role.

Advice: Benoit worked a perfect eighth inning on Friday while Neris allowed a run but converted his second straight save in the ninth. While it's nice that Mackanin trusts both hurlers in the ninth innings, fantasy owners would welcome more clarity to this situation in the coming weeks. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 5:34 am
  • Taijuan Walker gives up four runs
Taijuan Walker pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed four runs in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: Walker came up one out shy of a quality start, surrendering a double and an RBI single with two outs in the sixth. Walker has a 4.57 ERA after four starts, but his other stats are very solid; he's struck out 22, walked seven and given up two homers in 21 2/3 innings. It's just not going to be very easy for him to post a strong ERA in Arizona. Rotoworld.com Friday, 10:41 pm
  • Lester gives up five runs to Reds
Jon Lester was tagged for five runs over 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Reds on Friday.

Advice: Lester held the Reds off the board until he unraveled in the fourth inning. The southpaw allowed nine hits on the night (including a solo homer to Adam Duvall) while walking two and striking out four. Lester had allowed just two runs through his first three starts combined, so he was due for a clunker. He’ll try to rebound next time out against the Pirates on the road. Rotoworld.com Friday, 8:44 pm
  • Roark gives up three runs vs. Mets
Tanner Roark gave up three runs over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Friday.

Advice: Roark didn’t give up a homer over his first three starts this season, but Michael Conforto connected for a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the first and Curtis Granderson tied things up in the sixth with a solo shot of his own. Roark was pulled with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning. Oliver Perez was able to get Jay Bruce to fly out to right field to keep the game tied. Roark struck out five and walked three in the no-decision and now holds a 3.65 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 17/5 K/BB ratio in 24 2/3 innings through four starts. He has a tough assignment against the Rockies in Coors Field on tap for next week. Rotoworld.com Friday, 8:25 pm
  • Harvey handed no-decision vs. Nats
Matt Harvey was handed a no-decision after giving up three runs over seven innings Friday against the Nationals.

Advice: Harvey was originally scheduled to pitch on Saturday, but he was moved up a day with Jacob deGrom dealing with neck stiffness. It was a strong outing under the circumstances. All of the damage came via the home run ball, as he allowed a two-run homer to Bryce Harper in the first and a solo shot to Jose Lobaton in the fifth. Harvey owns a 2.84 ERA through his first four turns, but he has allowed five homers with only 17 strikeouts in 25 1/3 innings. He’s not quite the Matt Harvey of old, but it’s working for him right now. Rotoworld.com Friday, 8:24 pm

  • Neris overcomes long ball, rain to earn save
Hector Neris allowed a solo homer to Adonis Garcia and battled a 26-minute rain delay, but was able to escape with his second save of the season on Friday.

Advice: Neris was tasked with protecting a two-run advantage in the ninth inning and made things interesting by allowing a home run to Garcia before a 26-minute rain delay. After the delay, he allowed a pair of singles but was able to battle back and retire the Braves without further damage. He seems to have leapfrogged Joaquin Benoit for save chances, but with his struggles here it's anyone's guess who Pete Mackanin will turn to the next time the Phillies have a lead to protect in the ninth inning. Rotoworld.com Friday, 7:20 pm
  • Hellickson beats Braves, improves to 3-0
Jeremy Hellickson improved to 3-0 on the season Friday, limiting the Braves to two runs on three hits over his seven innings of work.

Advice: The right-hander punched out five on the evening and didn't issue a walk. Adonis Garcia delivered an RBI single against him in the fourth and Freddie Freeman blasted a solo homer in the sixth, but aside from that Hellickson was in complete command. He'll carry an impressive 1.88 ERA and 0.71 WHIP into his next start against the Marlins on Thursday. Rotoworld.com Friday, 7:19 pm
  • Mackanin: Neris would get save chance Friday
Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said that Hector Neris would be used if the team gets a save chance on Friday.

Advice: Neris was somewhat surprisingly used in a save chance Thursday against the Mets and closed things out. While Mackanin still doesn't appear ready to officially name Neris his closer, it certainly looks like he's first in line for save opportunities at the moment. Joaquin Benoit appears poised for a setup role again, although we can't rule out him netting a stray save from time to time. Rotoworld.com Friday, 1:29 pm
  • Mackanin mum on Phillies' closer situation
Phillies manager Pete Mackanin declined to name a closer after using Hector Neris to close out Thursday's win over the Mets.

Advice: Joaquin Benoit took over closer duties from Jeanmar Gomez last week but may have ruined his opportunity by allowing a walk-off home run to Bryce Harper on Sunday. Benoit pitched the eighth inning on Thursday before giving way to Neris in the ninth. Neris has been the Phillies' best reliever since Ken Giles left and probably should have been pitching the ninth inning all along. He needs to be owned in all leagues. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 8:11 pm
  • Chris Tillman starting for Frederick Saturday
Chris Tillman (shoulder) will make another rehab start Saturday for High-A Frederick.

Advice: Tillman allowed one run in 2 2/3 innings Monday in his first rehab start for Double-A Bowie. He admitted to being rusty in that outing and will probably need at least one more start in the minors after Saturday. Tillman led Baltimore with a career-high 16 wins last season. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 4:15 pm
    10-Day DL

  • Jim Johnson earns win Monday vs. Padres
Jim Johnson earned a win with a scoreless top of the ninth inning Monday versus the Padres.

Advice: Johnson allowed a single but also recorded a strikeout in his 12-pitch frame and the Braves won it on a walkoff RBI single from Dansby Swanson in the bottom of the ninth. Johnson stands 2-0 on the season and he also has three saves. Rotoworld.com Apr 17, 7:33 pm
  • Tillman (shoulder) feels good in rehab start
Chris Tillman (shoulder) allowed one run on two hits and one walk over 2 2/3 innings in his first rehab start with Double-A Bowie on Monday.

Advice: Tillman recorded three strikeouts. The right-hander said it took him a little longer than normal to get loose, but once that happened he felt good. Tillman admitted that it feels like he's at the beginning of spring training, so obviously it's going to be a while before he's an option for the Orioles' rotation. Early May is probably a best-case scenario. Rotoworld.com Apr 17, 5:40 pm
