    • Steven Kwan collects two hits in loss Wednesday
Steven Kwan went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles and a run scored on Wednesday as the Guardians fell to the Reds in Cincinnati.

Advice: Kwan got things started with a one-out single off of Nick Lodolo in the third inning, then came around to score the game’s tying run as David Fry worked a two-out walk with the bases loaded. The 26-year-old outfielder also looked like he had an RBI single in the fourth inning, but Brayan Rocchio was cut down at the plate. On the season, Kwan is now slashing a ridiculous .380/.445/.534 with four homers, 16 RBI and three stolen bases. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago
    • Michael King strikes out 12 on Wednesday vs. A’s
Michael King struck out a season-high 12 and allowed two runs over five innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Athletics.

Advice: King turned in one of his best outings of the year, generating an eye-popping 19 swinging strikes -- including 15 combined on his changeup and sweeper combination — and finished with a near-elite 39 percent CSW. The 29-year-old righty has allowed three earned runs or fewer in seven of his last eight starts since May 4. He’ll bring a solid 3.58 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 95/34 K/BB ratio across 83 innings (15 appearances, 14 starts) into a challenging road matchup on Tuesday against the red-hot Phillies. • Next rehab start set
Cole (elbow) will make a third rehab a start Friday with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Advice: The right-hander threw 57 pitches over 4.2 inning during his second rehab outing Sunday, and he'll move up to the Triple-A level as he continues building up his workload. Manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday, "we'll see" when asked if it will be Cole's final rehab start, so it's possible he's cleared to make his season debut for the Yankees next week. • Back in lineup
Seager (hamstring) is starting as Texas' designated hitter and batting second Wednesday versus the Dodgers.

Advice: Seager hasn't played since he left last Wednesday's game due to a sore left hamstring, but he has now been given the green light to at least serve as the Rangers' DH. The 30-year-old infielder has tallied a base hit in 17 of his last 18 games and is slashing .354/.462/.800 with nine home runs and 15 RBI in that span. Rotowire.com Today, 3:54 pm
    • Corey Seager (hamstring) rejoins Rangers’ lineup
Corey Seager (hamstring) returned to the Rangers’ starting lineup for Wednesday night’s battle against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Advice: Seager hasn’t played since leaving Wednesday’s game with a mild hamstring strain. It’s the first time that the 30-year-old superstar shortstop will play in Dodgers’ stadium as a visitor. He’s been terrific at the dish when healthy this season — slashing .271/.360/.472 with 13 homers and 30 RBI in just 57 games. Rotoworld Today, 3:51 pm
    • Chris Bassitt settles for no-decision vs. Brewers
Chris Bassitt hurled five shutout innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Brewers.

Advice: Bassitt departed in line for the win after striking out five and scattering five hits and four walks over five frames, but Toronto’s bullpen was unable to hold on. The 35-year-old veteran righty has been on a roll over the last few weeks, allowing three earned runs or fewer in eight consecutive starts since May 1. He’ll bring a solid 3.56 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 75/32 K/BB ratio across 78 1/3 innings (14 starts) into a favorable matchup on Tuesday against the Red Sox in Toronto. Rotoworld Today, 1:56 pm
    • Kyle Tucker (shin) won’t be ready Friday
Astros manager Joe Espada said Kyle Tucker won’t return from the IL when first eligible on Friday.

Advice: Espada said Tucker hasn’t been ruled out for the entire weekend, but Friday is off the table. Trey Cabbage has been picking up extra at-bats in place of Tucker, who fouled a ball off his shin last week. Rotoworld Today, 11:20 am

    • Unlikely to return Friday
The Astros announced Wednesday that Tucker (shin) isn't expected to be ready to return from the 10-day injured list Friday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Tucker is feeling better as he works his way back from a bruised right shin, but he hasn't yet resumed baseball activities and won't be ready for activation when first eligible. The Astros have mostly been using Trey Cabbage in right field against right-handers and Chas McCormick versus lefties since Tucker was shut down with the injury. Rotowire.com Today, 10:50 am

    • Reaches 10 steals
Gimenez went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Gimenez has gone 4-for-26 (.154) over six games in June, and he hasn't drawn a walk in that span. The second baseman has maintained fairly steady playing time, but he's hit lower in the order with the Guardians facing a southpaw in three of their last four games. That may be a factor in his quiet stretch, though he's still doing well overall with a .263/.318/.363 slash line, four home runs, 10 steals, 33 RBI and 35 runs scored across 60 contests.
