      Bednar pitched a perfect ninth inning to pick up the save against the Reds in Monday's 4-1 win.

      Advice: After serving up homers in each of his last two appearances, Bednar got back on track with a clean frame Monday. Bednar had a disastrous start to the season with 14 earned runs allowed in his first 13 outings, but he's turned it around with a 1.88 ERA over his last 19.1 innings. He snapped a 33-game homerless drought, during which he slashed .155/.250/.191. Turner now owns a .691 OPS with 18 extra-base hits and 24 runs scored through 233 plate appearances.     • David Bednar silences Reds to notch 15th save
      David Bednar tossed a perfect frame on Monday against the Reds to record his 15th save of the season.

      Advice: Bednar was summoned to protect a three-run lead in the final frame and required just 11 pitches (eight strikes) to spin a flawless frame. It was a nice rebound effort for the 29-year-old stopper after giving up solo homers in each of his previous two appearances. He’s converted 15 of his 18 save opportunities on the year.       The Dodgers have Will Smith batting second in between Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman Monday in their first game since losing Mookie Betts.

      Advice: Manager Dave Roberts indicated last night that Ohtani would lead off, but Smith jumping ahead of Freeman is a little bit of a surprise. It does make sense, particularly since it allows the Dodgers to go lefty-righty-lefty-righty at the top. Teoscar Hernández, as expected, is in the cleanup spot that’s typically been manned by Smith.       Advice: The Padres seem to have opted for a de facto platoon at catcher of late, even though both Campusano and Kyle Higashioka are right-handed hitters. Higashioka will stick in the lineup Monday for the fourth time in the Padres' last five matchups with lefties, while Campusano will take a seat.       According to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, Gerrit Cole will make his season debut on Wednesday against the Orioles

      Advice: It always seemed likely that the Yankees would bring Cole back to face the Orioles, and we now know that will be the case. Cole has looked good during his rehab starts and was up to 70 pitches in his last outing, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him go at least 80 pitches on Wednesday night if the results allow.
