    • Resting against lefty
Conforto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Conforto's streak of five consecutive starts will come to an end Wednesday while the lefty-hitting outfielder heads to the bench in a day game after a night game with a left-hander (Framber Valdez) on the hill for Houston. Austin Slater will enter the lineup in Conforto's place in left field and will bat leadoff. Rotowire.com 48 minutes ago
    • Grabs fourth win
Montgomery (4-4) got the win over the Angels on Tuesday, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out three over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Montgomery got through two innings unscathed before the Angels tacked on a pair of runs in the third. He got through another two clean innings before Taylor Ward took him deep to lead off the sixth. Montgomery retired the next two batters before being replaced by Kevin Ginkel to face Logan O'Hoppe. The strikeout numbers remain down for Montgomery. He hasn't struck out more than five batters since May 13 and is averaging 5.5 K/9, which would be his lowest mark since 2018. The 31-year-old southpaw owns a 6.58 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 32:19 K:BB in 52 innings and lines up for a favorable matchup against the White Sox this weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 7:19 am
    • On base four times Tuesday
Carroll went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Angels.

Advice: Carroll began his night with an RBI triple in the second and later came around to score. He then doubled his next time up in the fourth and would walk and cross home once more in the fifth. Carroll's been dialed in at the plate as of late. Over his last five games, he's tallied nine hits and four walks while not striking out a single time. The mini surge has lifted his slash line to .213/.300/.309 with 15 extra-base hits, 21 RBI, 35 runs and a 29:52 BB:K over 283 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 7:03 am
    • Produces lone run
Gorman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Neither team scored a run in the first eight innings of Tuesday's contest, with the Pirates scoring a pair of runs in the top of the ninth. Down 2-0, Gorman tried to kick-start a Cardinals comeback, leading off with a solo homer, but St. Louis couldn't plate the game-tying run. Since the start of June, Gorman is 10-for-38 (.263) with five homers, eight RBI and seven runs scored. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:52 pm

    • Jordan Montgomery fans three, gets win over Angels
Jordan Montgomery allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings Tuesday in a defeat of the Angels.

Advice: Montgomery hasn’t done much after signing late, but he was able to take down one of the teams that snubbed him in free agency to even his record at 4-4. He’ll bring a 6.58 ERA into his next start against the White Sox on Sunday. Perhaps he’ll take advantage of another weak lineup then. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:49 pm
    • Corbin Carroll goes 3-for-4 in D-backs’ victory
Corbin Carroll went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and a walk versus the Angels on Tuesday.

Advice: Carroll has nine hits, four walks and zero strikeouts in his last five games, boosting his OBP from .278 to .300. He’s still a long way from where he needs to be, but things are getting better. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:49 pm
    • Snags win Tuesday
Suarez (3-0) pitched 1.1 perfect innings and earned the win Tuesday over the Athletics.

Advice: Suarez kept the game tied at 3-3 during his appearance, and Kyle Higashioka delivered a walk-off blast for the Padres in the ninth inning. This was just Suarez's third appearance in June, as save chances have been rare for the Padres recently -- the team lost six of eight games prior to the start of this week's series versus the Athletics. Suarez has been dominant in the closer role with a 0.64 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 27:6 K:BB over 28.1 innings while converting all 17 of his save chances and adding one hold. • Battling illness
Manager Bob Melvin said after Tuesday's game that Hicks has been sick for the past several days, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: While Hicks' illness didn't prevent him from starting Tuesday, it did play a factor in his removal after just 4.2 innings and caused his velocity to be down a tick. The 27-year-old righty allowed three earned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five batters, and he was hit with his third loss of the year. Assuming he's able to shake off his illness, Hicks is lined up to start again on the road Monday against the Cubs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:38 pm

    • Jordan Hicks lifted in fifth versus Astros
Jordan Hicks yielded three runs in 4 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Astros.

Advice: Hicks didn’t have his usual velocity tonight, averaging 93.0 mph with his sinker. That’s down 1.9 mph from his season average and 3.2 mph from his start six days ago. Last time this happened, it was blamed on an illness, and Hicks’ velocity returned to normal his next time out. We’ll have to wait and see what the reasoning is this time. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:26 pm
