    • Bobby Witt Jr. scores run, picks up two hits in loss
Bobby Witt Jr. went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in a loss to the Rockies on Friday.

Advice: Witt Jr. has doubled 25 times in 2024, and he came around to score after his two-bagger Friday on a single by Salvador Perez. He came up just short in the All-Star voting, but barring something completely unforeseeable he’ll definitely be involved in the game with a slash of .321/.371/.559 over his 90 games. • Doyle hits go-ahead two-run double against Royals
Brenton Doyle hit a go-ahead two-run double to give the Rockies a 4-2 win over the Royals on Friday.

Advice: Doyle turned a 2-2 game into a 4-2 lead with the Rockies with a ground-rule double that scored Aaron Schunk and Ryan McMahon and ultimately gave Colorado the victory. After being one of the worst offensive players in baseball in 2024, Doyle has shocked with a very useable slash of .274/.335/.436, and his .731 OPS is quite the improvement on his .593 mark in 2023. • Kenley Jansen throws scoreless 10th for save
Kenley Jansen worked a scoreless 10th inning for his 17th save Friday against the Yankees.

Advice: Working with a two-run lead, Jansen allowed a single but still prevented the automatic runner from scoring in a 5-3 game. It’s his ninth straight scoreless appearance, and his ERA currently stands at 2.08. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:58 pm
    • Cracks three hits against Royals
Doyle went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Friday's 4-2 victory over Kansas City.

Advice: Doyle gave the Rockies the lead in the eighth with a ground-rule double off John Schreiber to plate two runs. The Colorado center fielder has been scorching hot over his last seven games, hitting .428 (12-for-28) with four homers, four doubles, nine RBI and five runs scored. Doyle entered the season as a speed threat but is rounding into a stalwart in the batter's box too, as he's slashing .274/.335/.436 with 10 homers, 49 runs scored and 34 RBI across 341 plate appearances. • Homer, two RBI in win
Contreras went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in a 7-6 win over the Nationals on Friday.

Advice: Contreras hit an RBI single in the fifth inning and tied the game with a solo home run in the ninth. The catcher went just 4-for-23 in June after returning from the injured list but has five hits and two home runs in his past four games. On the season, he is hitting .265 with eight home runs, 17 RBI and 25 runs scored over 178 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:19 pm
    • Kenley Jansen nails down 17th save
Kenley Jansen kept the Yankees off the board in the 10th inning to secure the save on Friday night.

Advice: Jansen was tasked with facing Juan Soto and Aaron Judge up two runs in the 10th inning and didn’t allow anyone to score. He slammed the door in what was a dramatic win for his Red Sox. Jansen hasn’t allowed an earned run since June 12th and hasn’t blown a save since April 16th. Take that, father time. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:07 pm
    • Willson Contreras ties game with homer in ninth
Willson Contreras went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and walk in the Cardinals’ 7-6 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Contreras’ homer finally brought the Cardinals all the way back after trailing 5-0 early in this game. He has yet to get going after returning from the IL late in June, but the long ball was his second in three games and this was his first multi-hit game since coming back. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:27 pm
    • Dane Dunning (shoulder) lands on 15-day IL
Rangers placed RHP Dane Dunning on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to July 4, with right shoulder soreness.

Advice: Adding injury to insult after Dunning was demoted to the Rangers’ bullpen at the end of June, he’ll now be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks while dealing with a balky shoulder. Josh Sborz was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move to replace him in the Rangers’ bullpen on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:07 pm

    • To IL with shoulder soreness
The Rangers placed Dunning on the 15-day injured list Friday with right shoulder soreness, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: This is the second shoulder-related IL stint for Dunning, who also missed a couple weeks of action in May. It's not clear at this point how long he might be sidelined this time around. Dunning was demoted to the Rangers' bullpen late last month to accommodate Max Scherzer's return. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:46 pm
