    • Brent Rooker hits three-run homer in loss
Brent Rooker went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run on Sunday in a loss to the Royals.

Advice: Rooker’s homer was his 11th of the season and he scalded this one at 111.7 MPH off the bat. There’s still a lot of swing and miss in his game, but a barrel rate right around 15% and hitting third in the surging A’s lineup has turned him into one of the best run producers in the league early this season. • Reed Garrett with two-inning save
Reed Garrett struck out four Marlins and allowed one hit in two innings to close out the Mets’ 7-3 win on Sunday. The save was his second of the season.

Advice: Garrett has been lights out this season for the Mets and one of their most important players, let alone relievers. His strikeout rate is still hovering around an otherworldly 40% and Edwin Díaz’s disastrous week means Garrett is likely in line for some more save opportunities moving forward. • Nick Pivetta fans eight in defeating Cardinals
Nick Pivetta limited the Cardinals to one run and one hit over six innings in Boston’s 11-3 win Sunday.

Advice: The one-hit was a 441-foot homer from Lars Nootbaar, but Pivetta retired every other batter he faced, striking out eight of them. He struggled in his first start back from the IL, but he has a 3.04 ERA and a 30/2 K/BB ratio through five outings this year. He’ll get the Brewers next. Rotoworld Today, 1:28 pm

    • Save chances possible
Garrett will likely be in the mix for save chances going forward after manager Carlos Mendoza said Sunday that closer Edwin Diaz will shift to a "fluid" role, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.

Advice: It's not a full demotion, but Diaz is now slated for lower-leverage work to help get his confidence back after giving up seven runs in his past three outings. Garrett entered 2024 with a 7.11 ERA in 31 career appearances in the big leagues, but he's turned into a major bullpen piece for the Mets with a 0.78 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 37:11 K:BB in 23 innings. Adam Ottavino should also be an option for saves until Diaz is back on track. Rotowire.com Today, 12:41 pm

    • Taking seat Sunday
Steer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

    • Still sitting Sunday
Diaz (hand) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Advice: It's the fourth straight absence for Diaz as he continues to nurse a hand injury. He'll have Monday's team off day to aid in his recovery ahead of Tuesday's series opener in Oakland. Jacob Stallings will work behind the plate Sunday for Colorado. Rotowire.com Today, 11:28 am

    • Spencer Steer out of lineup Sunday vs. Dodgers
Spencer Steer is not in the lineup for Sunday’s tilt against the Dodgers.

Advice: Steer has struggled mightily as of late, and the 26-year-old will get a day to think about things against Landon Knack and the Dodgers. Santiago Espinal is starting at third base with Jeimer Candelario moving across the diamond to first. Rotoworld Today, 10:29 am

    • Elias Díaz remains out Sunday with hand injury
Elias Díaz (hand) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Giants.

Advice: Díaz is dealing with left-handed soreness, and the Rockies will give the 33-year-old at least one more day off. Jacob Stallings is back in the lineup and hitting ninth while handling the backstop duties. Rotoworld Today, 9:40 am

    • Back in lineup Sunday
Carter (back) is in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Advice: Carter has been available off the bench for the last two games against Los Angeles, but he will return to left field for the first time since May 8 as Texas finishes out its series. The lefty-batting outfielder is slashing .211/.301/.406 with 15 RBI and five home runs across 142 plate appearances so far this season. Rotowire.com Today, 8:47 am
