• Swats solo shot Monday
Alonso went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Giants.

Advice: Alonso accounted for the Mets' first run with a fifth-inning solo blast to left field. The long ball snapped a seven-game homerless drought for the slugger, and he had gone just 4-for-26 with one RBI during that stretch. Alonso still leads the team -- and is tied for third in the majors -- with seven homers on the campaign, though he's knocked in just 12 runs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:38 pm
  • Takes modest step toward return
Lowe (oblique) has started swinging and taking ground balls, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Lowe landed on the injured list April 12 but doesn't appear all that close to a return. On Tuesday, manager Kevin Cash described Lowe's progress as "nothing huge yet." Curtis Mead and Amed Rosario will likely continue to form a platoon at second base in Lowe's absence. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:21 pm

  • Smacks second homer
Caballero went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Monday against the Tigers.

Advice: Caballero has made his mark with seven stolen bases across his first 22 games this season. However, he swatted his second homer of the campaign against Shelby Miller in the eighth inning, and he now has an extra-base hit in each of his last three games. Caballero has a clear path to playing time for the foreseeable future, as Taylor Walls (hip) has been shut down from baseball activities and is ineligible to return from the injured list until late May. • Swipes two bags Monday
Mateo went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run and two stolen bases in Monday's 4-2 win against the Angels.

Advice: Mateo made his second start in three games and used his legs to help the Orioles score their second run, following a third-inning walk with a pair of thefts before coming home on an Adley Rutschman single. The performance was indicative of what Mateo brings to Baltimore -- he's an elite base stealer when he's able to reach, but with a career .224 batting average and .271 OBP, that doesn't happen enough to keep him in the lineup consistently. From a fantasy perspective, Mateo is most useful as a base-stealing specialist in leagues that allow daily lineup changes. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:07 pm

  • Collects three hits
Cruz went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI on Monday against the Brewers.

Advice: Cruz hit eighth in the order for the third straight game against a right-handed pitcher as the Pirates seek to get him on track at the plate. He showed some reasons for optimism with his three-hit performance, highlighted by a two-RBI single in the sixth inning that gave the team some insurance runs. Most importantly, Cruz struck out only once after punching out multiple times in seven of his previous 10 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:07 pm

  • Two hits in 2024 debut
Mendick went 2-for-4 on Monday against the Twins.

Advice: Mendick began the season with Triple-A Charlotte but joined the big-league club Monday and made his debut while starting at third base. Braden Shewmake has picked up the majority of at-bats at the hot corner since Yoan Moncada (thigh) went down, though Shewmake is hitless in his last four starts and is just 5-for-35 overall. His struggles could open up more regular playing time for Mendick, though he has only a career .242 average and .112 ISO across 519 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:59 pm

  • Struggling of late
McMahon went 0-for-3 with an RBI on Monday against the Padres.

Advice: McMahon recorded four hits April 12, but he has only five hits across 38 plate appearances since. He's also struck out at 39.5 percent clip in that span while tallying two RBI and two runs scored. Even with that stretch, McMahon has a .314 average across 100 plate appearances. • Pete Alonso hits seventh homer against Giants
Pete Alonso went 2-for-4 and homered against the Giants on Monday.

Advice: Unfortunately, Alonso couldn’t come through again in the ninth, when the Mets scored once off Camilo Doval but still fell three runs short. Alonso is tied for third in the majors with seven homers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:16 pm
  • Jose Caballero scores lone run in loss to Tigers
Jose Caballero went 1-for-4 with a home run in Monday’s loss against the Tigers.

Advice: Caballero got off to a hot start this season with a .353 AVG in his first 10 games. He’s since cooled down, but is still slashing .284/.297/.459 on the season. He was the only offense that Tampa Bay had on Monday when he hit a solo shot in the eighth inning. From a fantasy perspective, the 27-year-old shortstop has been a plus in the stolen base department with seven of them so far this season. But for the Rays, he’s been a huge asset given the situation surrounding Wander Franco and could be a sneaky shortstop option for fantasy managers this season if he keeps up this type of production.
