  • Chisenhall not in Tuesday's lineup
Lonnie Chisenhall is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Reds.

Advice: He'll take a seat against left-hander Amir Garrett. Bradley Zimmer is also on the bench with Carlos Santana playing right field under National League rules. Daniel Robertson is starting in center field. 25 minutes ago
  • Blanton (shoulder) plays catch Tuesday
Joe Blanton (shoulder) played catch Tuesday.

Advice: As noted by Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post, Blanton was playing catch with teammate Sammy Solis (elbow) as both pitchers are working their way back from injuries. Blanton struggled to the tune of a 9.49 ERA through 12 1/3 innings before landing on the disabled list last week with right shoulder inflammation. The Nationals haven't mapped out a specific timetable for his return, but he's already moving in the right direction. 29 minutes ago

  • Solis (elbow) plays catch Tuesday

  • Padres option RHP Valdez to Triple-A
Padres optioned RHP Jose Valdez to Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: The move clears a spot for Carlos Asuaje on the active roster. Valdez, who was claimed off waivers from the Angels earlier this month, was just called up on Saturday and threw 41 pitches in relief in his lone appearance. 51 minutes ago

  • Padres recall Asuaje from Triple-A
Padres recalled INF/OF Carlos Asuaje from Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: This confirms a report from FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal. Acquired as part of the Craig Kimbrel trade, Asuaje was batting .222/.335/.319 with one homer and 20 RBI over 39 games this season with Triple-A El Paso. He'll function in a utility role. 54 minutes ago
  • Baez not in Tuesday's lineup vs. Giants
Javier Baez is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Giants.

Advice: Baez went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer on Monday, but he'll take a seat on Monday against right-hander Jhonny Cueto. Ben Zobrist will make the start at second base and bat leadoff while Kyle Schwarber will return to left field and bat second. Ian Happ is starting in center field and will bat fifth. Today, 11:10 am

  • Suarez not in Tuesday's lineup
Eugenio Suarez is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Indians.

Advice: It sounds like a routine day off. Scooter Gennett will make the start at the hot corner. Today, 10:50 am
  • Gose clocked at 99 mph in minors
Anthony Gose was clocked at 99 mph during his first appearance with High-A Lakeland on Monday.

Advice: Gose, who is making the switch from the outfield to the mound, was assigned to Lakeland after spending the first two months of the season in extended spring training. He allowed one run on one hit and one walk with one strikeout in his first appearance on Monday. Tigers vice president of player development Dave Littlefield said they are "very optimistic" about his progress thus far. Gose, a left-handed thrower, is still just 26 years old and could have an interesting second act ahead of him. Today, 10:20 am

  • Story (shoulder) could be activated Tuesday
Trevor Story (shoulder) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as Tuesday.

Advice: Rockies manager Bud Black passed along the news during an appearance on MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM. Story, out since May 11 with a left shoulder strain, went 3-for-11 (.273) with a homer over four games during his minor league rehab assignment. The 24-year-old was batting just .180/.289/.396 through 33 games prior to the injury, but the power has still been there and he obviously plays half of his games in a great park for offense. • Gray (foot) three weeks away from return
Rockies manager Bud Black said during an appearance on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM on Tuesday that Jon Gray (foot) is "three weeks away from pitching for us."

Advice: This matches up with a recent prediction from Rockies' beat writer Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post. Gray suffered a stress fracture in his left foot last month and has been throwing despite being in a boot. His recovery is taking longer than originally anticipated, but the Rockies have managed to put together the best record in the NL without him. They'll happily welcome him back, of course. • Hunter (calf) to begin rehab stint Tuesday
Tommy Hunter (calf) is slated to begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with High-A Charlotte.

Advice: Hunter should only need a couple of appearances before rejoining the Rays. The veteran reliever has been sidelined for a month due to a right calf strain. He had a 1.08 ERA over 10 appearances prior to the injury. Today, 7:28 am

  • D'Arnaud hitless in latest rehab game
Travis d'Arnaud (wrist) went 0-for-3 and caught six innings Monday in his latest minor league rehab game with Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: D'Arnaud is now 5-for-17 (.294) during his minor league rehab assignment while working his back from a bone bruise in his wrist. He's set to catch Steven Matz (elbow) on Tuesday, but he could be cleared to rejoin the Mets after that. The question is how the playing time will shake out with Rene Rivera, who has been surprisingly productive at the plate. D'Arnaud was batting .203/.288/.475 with four home runs an 16 RBI over 22 games prior to the injury. Today, 5:37 am

  • Greinke fans 12, works into ninth vs. ChiSox
Zack Greinke held the White Sox to one run over 8 2/3 innings Monday in the Diamondbacks' 5-1 win.

Advice: Greinke nearly had a complete game, but manager Torey Lovullo lifted the right-hander after Jose Abreu doubled with two outs in the top of the ninth. Greinke was brilliant, yielding just four hits and striking out 12 batters against just one walk. He's now 6-2 on the year with a 2.82 ERA and he leads all National League pitchers in strikeouts with 78. A road start against the Brewers is next. Yesterday, 9:28 pm
  • Miguel Gonzalez allows five runs in loss
Miguel Gonzalez surrendered five runs -- four earned -- over five-plus innings Monday as the White Sox fell to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Daniel Descalso tagged Gonzalez for a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning and Paul Goldschmidt added a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth. Gonzalez is now 3-5 with a 4.55 ERA and 1.48 WHIP through nine starts this season. He has a weak 33/20 K/BB ratio in 55 1/3 innings. Yesterday, 9:22 pm
  • Descalso slugs three-run homer in victory
Daniel Descalso hit a three-run homer in the Diamondbacks' win over the White Sox on Monday.

Advice: Descalso opened the game's scoring with his three-run blast off White Sox starter Miguel Gonzalez in the bottom of the fourth inning. He also drew a walk in the victory but is still batting just .194/.333/.388 over 37 games this year. The utilityman carries no fantasy relevance. Yesterday, 9:21 pm

  • Baez goes 3-for-4 with two-run HR in loss
Javier Baez finished 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in the Cubs' loss to the Giants on Monday.

Advice: Ben Zobrist was the only other Cubs batter to register multiple hits in this one. Baez struck his two-run shot off Giants starter Ty Blach in the bottom of the eighth, but the Cubs entered that inning trailing 6-0 and would ultimately fall 6-4. Baez is batting .264/.301/.496 with seven home runs and 21 RBI in 38 games this season for the defending World Series champions. Yesterday, 8:24 pm

  • Gose assigned to High-A Lakeland
Anthony Gose, now a pitcher, has been assigned to High-A Lakeland.

Advice: Gose, a .240/.309/.348 career hitter in the major leagues, has been working on the switch for a few weeks in extended spring training and is now ready to test himself in a real game. The 26-year-old is said to throw hard from the left side and Tigers manager Brad Ausmus recently gave high praise to his curveball. It will be an interesting story to follow. Yesterday, 12:35 pm

  • Padres calling up Carlos Asuaje
The Padres are calling up infielder-outfielder Carlos Asuaje, reports FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

Advice: The Padres haven't confirmed. Asuaje, a product of the Craig Kimbrel trade, appeared in seven games with the Padres last season and was batting .222/.335/.319 with one homer and 20 RBI over 39 games this season with Triple-A El Paso. The 25-year-old has mostly played second base in the minors, but he also has experience between third base and left field. Yesterday, 11:10 am
  • D'Arnaud (wrist) has three hits in rehab game
Travis d'Arnaud (wrist) went 3-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI, and a run scored Sunday in a rehab game with Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: D'Arnaud, who is working back from a bone bruise in his wrist, is now 5-for-14 (.357) during his minor league rehab assignment. The expectation is that he will stick around to catch Steven Matz (elbow) on Tuesday, but he's not far off. Rene Rivera has been red-hot during his absence, so it will be interesting to see how Terry Collins balances the playing time moving forward. Yesterday, 8:42 am

  • Travis d'Arnaud to catch nine on Sunday
Travis d'Arnaud (wrist) made a pinch-hitting appearance for Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday and will catch nine innings on Sunday.

Advice: D'Arnaud is expected to need a few days before he is able to return, and Sunday's stint behind the dish will go a long way in determining if he needs extra time or not. Wait to see him officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks before plugging him back into the active fantasy lineup. Saturday, 9:54 pm

  • Padres call up Valdez to replace Weaver
Padres recalled RHP Jose Valdez from Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: The Padres had an open roster spot with Jered Weaver (hip) headed to the disabled list. Claimed off waivers from the Angels earlier this month, Valdez has not been effective at any level this season. He let up two runs in his only inning of big league work this year and carries a sluggish 5.74 ERA in 13 appearances at Triple-A. Saturday, 5:19 pm

  • Chisenhall homers, scores twice vs. Astros
Lonnie Chisenhall went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Astros.

Advice: Chisenhall was responsible for most of the offense on the afternoon, scoring two of the three runs in the game. He homered for the second game in a row, and he's now got four dingers in his last six games. A shoulder injury cost the 28-year-old the first two weeks of the season, but he's hitting a healthy .279/.340/.581 with six homers, 22 RBI and 14 runs scored in 31 games since. Saturday, 4:36 pm
  • Chisenhall homers, drives in two runs in win
Lonnie Chisenhall homered and plated two runs in the Indians’ 5-3 victory over the Astros on Friday.

Advice: Chisenhall connected for a solo homer off Charlie Morton in the sixth inning before providing an insurance run on a sacrifice fly in the eighth. The 28-year-old has three homers in his last five games and quietly owns an .882 OPS through 30 games on the year. Friday, 8:51 pm
  • Eugenio Suarez clubs 8th homer in loss Friday
Eugenio Suarez clubbed his eighth home run of the season as the Reds were clobbered by the Rockies on Friday night.

Advice: Suarez tagged Rockies' starter Tyler Anderson for the solo shot in the fourth inning. He also singled and doubled in the ballgame, finishing the night 3-for-4. He's having a very nice season offensively, slashing .302/.373/.544 with eight long balls 25 RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Friday, 7:53 pm
  • Travis d'Arnaud goes 2-4 in rehab game
Travis d'Arnaud (wrist) went 2-for-4 Thursday in his first rehab game for High-A St. Lucie.

Advice: He also caught seven innings behind the plate. D'Arnaud landed on the DL with a bruised wrist earlier this month but should be back with the Mets sometime next week. Rene Rivera has done most of the catching during his absence. Thursday, 6:47 pm

Javier Baez went 3-for-3 with a grand slam, five RBI and a walk as the Cubs topped the Reds 9-5 on Thursday.

  • 'Middle of June' likely return date for Gray?
The Denver Post predicts the "middle of June" for Jon Gray's (foot) return to the rotation.

Advice: "They don't want to rush him," reporter Patrick Saunders said in a chat. Gray received good news from a May 8 scan, but experienced "muscle atrophy" with his foot in a boot for over a month. The 25-year-old righty has been throwing, reportedly conducting bullpen sessions in his boot. Either German Marquez or Tyler Anderson will be yanked from the rotation upon Gray's return. • Story (shoulder) cleared for rehab assignment
Trevor Story (shoulder) is set to begin a rehab assignment Friday with Triple-A Albuquerque.

Advice: And if all goes well, he should be back on the Rockies' active roster by the middle of next week. Story has been on the disabled list since May 11 because of a minor left shoulder strain. He was batting just .180/.289/.396 over his first 33 games this season, but the 24-year-old shortstop is capable of getting it going in a hurry. Thursday, 9:11 am

  • Joe Blanton (shoulder) heads to disabled list
Nationals placed RHP Joe Blanton on the 10-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.

Advice: Blanton last pitched on May 13 and was struggling to a 9.49 ERA in 12 1/3 innings before he was placed on the disabled list. It is unclear just when he started to feel discomfort in his right shoulder. He was dealing with mechanical issues in mid-April, but otherwise had not previously reported any issues. There is no current timetable for his return. Wednesday, 1:24 pm

  • Greinke whiffs eight but allows four runs
Zack Greinke struck out eight but allowed four runs over 6 2/3 frames in Tuesday’s 5-4 win over the Mets.

Advice: Greinke stayed in the game after being hit in the foot with a Neil Walker comebacker to lead off the second inning, but it could have affected him given that three of the next four batters reached, which included a bases-loaded walk to the struggling Curtis Granderson. Granderson then hit a solo shot in the fifth and Rene Rivera smacked a two-run homer in the seventh. This was Greinke’s worst start on paper since mid-April, but it was hardly a poor effort. He’ll get the White Sox and Brewers next week. Tuesday, 9:49 pm
  • Eugenio Suarez goes 0-for-4 in loss
Eugenio Suarez went 0-for-4 in the loss to the Cubs on Tuesday.

Advice: Suarez hit .371/.458/.742 over his first 18 games this year. In his last 19, he's come in at .216/.284/.311. He was so good early on that he still has an .873 OPS overall, but he's not likely to be more than a borderline mixed-league infielder over the rest of the season. Tuesday, 8:55 pm
  • Trevor Story (shoulder) taking dry swings
Trevor Story (shoulder) has begun taking dry swings.

Advice: Story landed on the disabled list May 11 with a left shoulder strain, but he's already doing range of motion exercises so the injury obviously isn't all that severe. The 24-year-old shortstop will aim to return to the Rockies' active roster before the end of the month. He was batting just .180/.289/.396 over his first 33 major league games. Tuesday, 12:50 pm

  • Chisenhall slugs three-run shot versus Rays
Lonnie Chisenhall drew two walks and hit a three-run homer Monday in the Indians' defeat of the Rays.

Advice: Chisenhall's three-run shot capped off a five-run bottom of the first inning for the host team. The 28-year-old is batting .282/.358/.549 with four home runs and 19 RBI in 27 games this season and has taken over as the Indians' primary center fielder. Monday, 6:58 pm
  • Gonzalez gives up five runs in loss
Miguel Gonzalez was tagged for five runs over five innings in a loss to the Padres on Friday.

Advice: Gonzalez had some rare struggles with his control, matching a season-high with four walks while throwing first-pitch strikes to just 15 out of the 28 batters he faced. He gave up eight hits — including a pair of home runs — in the loss. His ERA has jumped from 2.00 to 3.83 over his last three starts. He just doesn’t miss enough bats to have much in the way of fantasy appeal. May 12, 9:52 pm
