    • Freddie Freeman one of six Dodgers named All-Stars
Freddie Freeman was named to his eighth National League All-Star team on Sunday.

Advice: Freeman is one of six Dodgers to be named to the National League squad. Shohei Ohtani had already been named as the league’s starting designated hitter and Tyler Glasnow was named among the pitchers on Sunday. In addition, Teoscar Hernandez, Will Smith and Mookie Betts were named to the team with Freeman as reserves. Joining them as All-Star reserves announced on Sunday were Elly De La Cruz, CJ Abrams, Ryan McMahon, Jackson Merrill, Heliot Ramos, Bryan Reynolds, Marcell Ozuna, Luis Arraez and Pete Alonso. • Beginning rehab assignment Tuesday
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol confirmed Sunday that Edman (wrist) remains on track to begin his minor-league rehab assignment with Double-A Springfield on Tuesday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Edman's surgically repaired right wrist apparently responded well to batting practice sessions in Springfield on Friday and Saturday, with the latter being a live session against rehabbing right-hander Riley O'Brien (forearm). Unless Edman experiences another setback with his wrist in the next day, he'll see his first game action of the season Tuesday. Edman will presumably remain on his rehab assignment throughout the week before the Cardinals reassess his status coming out of the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:13 pm

    • Checking back into lineup
Smith (glute) will start at third base and bat third in Sunday's game against the Rays.

Advice: Smith had been out of the lineup for the past two days with glute tightness, but he'll be ready to give it a go for the series finale. The 26-year-old will carry a four-game hitting streak into Sunday's contest and is slashing .291/.391/.509 overall wit three home runs, nine RBI and seven runs in his last 15 games. • Rejoining lineup Sunday
Alvarez (elbow) will start at catcher and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Alvarez was held out for Saturday's 5-2 win after he was struck in the left elbow by a fastball in Friday's 14-2 loss in the series opener, but the day off was apparently all the young catcher needed to overcome the soreness he had been experiencing. Since returning from the injured list June 11, Alvarez has slashed .338/.413/.600 with three home runs, 15 RBI and eight runs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:12 am
    • Josh Smith returning to lineup Sunday vs. Rays
Josh Smith (lower body) is hitting third and playing third base against the Rays on Sunday.

Advice: Smith missed Friday and Saturday’s game due to glute tightness, but he’s well enough to man the hot corner for Sunday’s finale against the Rays with the Rangers looking to procure a sweep. Jonathan Ornelas retreats to the bench with Smith back in action. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:09 am

    • Serving as DH on Sunday
Greene is serving as the designated hitter and batting fourth in Sunday's game against the Reds.

Advice: Greene will get a day off from playing the outfield, though the Tigers are keeping his hot bat in the lineup. Over his last 10 games, the 23-year-old has a .962 OPS. For the season, Greene has an .863 OPS and 17 home runs, making him a strong fantasy asset thus far. The young star is just starting to tap into his potential and has a ton of upside the rest of the year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:55 am

    • Collects seventh hold
Treinen earned a hold against Milwaukee on Saturday, striking out one batter in a perfect inning of work.

Advice: Treinen entered in the seventh frame and retired the side in order on 11 pitches. The right-hander has given up an earned run in just two of his 23 appearances this season, resulting in a solid 2.61 ERA and 1.06 WHIP across 20.2 innings. Treinen hasn't shown much rust despite missing all of 2023 and most of 2022 due to a shoulder injury. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:52 am

    • Lasts four innings in no-decision
Peralta did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks over four innings while striking out four.

Advice: All three runs against Peralta came in the opening frame when he surrendered a two-run shot to Will Smith and failed to retire any of the first four batters he faced. The right-hander held the Dodgers scoreless over the next three innings but did not return for the fifth after reaching 104 pitches. Peralta had gone at least five innings four straight outings coming in, though he's now issued multiple walks in each of his last four. On the bright side, he also induced 21 whiffs on the night despite posting just four strikeouts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:36 am

    • Delivers two more runs
Walker went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the Padres.

Advice: Walker provided the game-winning knock with a two-run single in the top of the 10th inning. The scorching hot Walker is 15-for-30 with five home runs over the last seven contests and has knocked in 13 runners over the last six. The surge leaves him with 22 home runs (tied for sixth in MLB) and 64 RBI (seventh in the league). Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:06 am
