    • Hitting bench Monday
Jones is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Jones will retreat to the bench for the series opener in Cincinnati while southpaw Andrew Abbott takes the hill for the Reds. Hunter Goodman will get the start in left field in place of Jones, who is getting on base at a .355 clip but has provided few counting statistics (two home runs, one stolen base, seven RBI, six runs) in his 21 games since he returned from the injured list in mid-June. • Ke’Bryan Hayes gets a day off on Monday
Ke’Bryan Hayes is not in the starting lineup for the Pirates against the Mets on Monday.

Advice: It’s a routine day off for the third baseman, who has been struggling to provide fantasy value apart from speed. Since June 1st, Hayes is hitting .220/.248/.284 with two home runs, nine runs, and eight RBI in 28 games. However, he does have seven steals over that timeframe, so he remains an option in deeper formats if you need speed. We have still not seen the breakout many were hoping for, and it’s looking like it might never come. Jared Triolo will start in his place on Monday. Rotoworld Today, 8:24 am

    • Makes pinch-hit appearance Sunday
Rodriguez (quadriceps) entered Sunday's extra-inning loss to the Blue Jays as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning and was hit by a pitch in his one plate appearance.

Advice: Rodriguez was out of the starting nine after being removed early from Saturday's game against Toronto with the quadriceps injury, but a subsequent MRI came back with "nothing out of the ordinary," per MLB.com. As had been announced by manager Scott Servais before Sunday's contest after Rodriguez completed some pregame running drills, the outfielder was healthy enough to take an at-bat. However, Servais immediately substituted Dylan Moore for Rodriguez on the basepaths once the latter was plunked, and Rodriguez was subsequently formally ejected in the ninth inning for shouting from the dugout after a called third strike on Mitch Garver. With the benefit of a team off day Monday, Rodriguez could be healthy enough to return to the lineup for Tuesday's series opener against the Padres. Rotowire.com Today, 7:59 am

    • Sitting out Monday
Hayes is out of the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Mets.

Advice: Hayes appears to be getting a routine maintenance day after he started in each of the previous six games. Jared Triolo will fill in for Hayes at third base. Rotowire.com Today, 7:44 am

    • Dazzles for 10th win
Skubal (10-3) allowed one run on three hits over seven innings to earn the win Sunday against the Reds. He struck out 13.

Advice: Skubal was dominant once again Sunday as he recorded a new season high in strikeouts and allowed one run or fewer for the 10th time in 18 starts. The lefty now has a stellar 2.37 ERA and 132 strikeouts across 110 innings this year, which earned him his first All-Star selection on Sunday as well. Skubal has been an excellent fantasy asset, and he's set up to make one more start before the All-Star break, likely on Friday against the Dodgers. It's a tough matchup, but the Detroit ace should remain locked into lineups the rest of the way. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:42 pm
    • Earns fourth win
Duran (4-3) earned the win Sunday over the Astros, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out one over a scoreless inning.

Advice: Duran was tasked with keeping the game tied at 2-2 in the ninth inning, and he got the job done. He then earned the win when Christian Vazquez walked it off for the Twins with a solo home run in the bottom of the frame. Duran has dialed in with 11 scoreless outings over his last 12 appearances, allowing just two runs with a 10:3 K:BB in that span. For the year, the closer has a 3.25 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 25:9 K:BB through 27.2 innings while converting 13 of 14 save chances and adding one hold. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:29 pm

    • Tarik Skubal leads pitching for A.L. All-Stars
Tarik Skubal was named to his first American League All-Star team on Sunday.

Advice: The 27-year-old southpaw racked up a career-best 13 strikeouts in a victory over the Reds on Sunday afternoon, then got the news that he would be heading to the All-Star Game. He’s certainly deserving, having posted a 10-3 record, 2.37 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and a 132/20 K/BB ratio over 110 innings in his first 18 starts. He’ll be joined on the pitching staff for the American League All-Stars by Corbin Burnes, Garrett Crochet, Tanner Houck, Seth Lugo, Cole Ragans, Logan Gilbert, Tyler Anderson, Mason Miller, Kirby Yates, Clay Holmes and Emmanuel Clase. • Swipes eighth bag
Hayes went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Mets.

Advice: Hayes reached base in three of his four at-bats Sunday, as he also reached on an error in addition to a pair of singles. Hayes now has multi-hit games in four of his last eight games, with three steals in that span. The power numbers continue to plague Hayes though, as he's slugging a lowly .299 for the season. The 27-year-old has 11 extra-base hits through 270 plate appearances this season and will need to pick those numbers up in order to have a larger fantasy impact. • Tarik Skubal strikes out 13 Reds in win
Tarik Skubal dazzled across seven innings with 13 strikeouts in the Tigers’ 5-1 win over the Reds on Sunday.

Advice: Skubal seems to keep getting better. He forced a season-best 23 swings-and-misses en route to his season-best 13 punch outs and the Reds’ batters were clueless for most of this game. They had a mini rally in the seventh inning, but Skubal navigated through it and maintained the lead. It’s almost an impossible task for opposing hitters to be ready for 99 MPH heat, a quality sinker, an outrageously good changeup, a 92 MPH slider, and a devastating knuckle curve that comes out for special occasions.
