    • Sitting Saturday
Drury is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus the Athletics, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Drury will get a day off after he went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Friday's 13-3 loss. Anthony Rendon will take over at third base while Willie Calhoun enters the lineup at designated hitter and bats fourth against Oakland. Rotowire.com 44 minutes ago

    • Pilfers 24th bag
Thomas went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's win over the Reds.

Advice: The outfielder continues to do damage on the basepaths in July. Thomas is up to 24 steals on the season, and seven of them have come in his last 12 games -- a stretch in which he's batting .319 (15-for-47). His homer drought stands at 24 games however, something which won't help the Nationals extract maximum value for the 28-year-old if they do elect to move him by the trade deadline. • Ryan Helsley pitching through lingering hip issue
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol told reporters Ryan Helsley declined to pitch in the All-Star Game earlier this week due to hip tightness.

Advice: It doesn’t sound like a serious concern, but it’s something worth noting as Helsley heads into the second half. It’s also unclear how long he’s been pitching through the issue. The 30-year-old right-hander is reportedly available to pitch in Saturday’s doubleheader against the Braves and it doesn’t seem like the lingering issue with impact his availability moving forward. However, we’re obligated to flag the minor issue in case it develops into something much more significant. Rotoworld Today, 8:30 am
    • Kodai Senga (shoulder) starting Saturday at Triple-A
Kodai Senga (shoulder) will make his final minor league rehab start on Saturday for Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: Senga should be fully built up from a workload standpoint following Saturday’s rehab outing and will make his long-awaited season debut at some point later next week. The 31-year-old righty has been on the shelf since spring training due to shoulder issues and several setbacks during his rehabilitation process. Rotoworld Today, 7:04 am

    • Thairo Estrada hits two-run triple vs. Rockies
Thairo Estrada hit a two-run triple Friday in a loss for the Giants to the Rockies.

Advice: Estrada tripled home a pair to give the Giants a 2-0 lead in the second inning. That was the only hit of the game for the 28-year-old, but hey, if you’re gonna only get one hit, make it a two-run triple. Estrada has disappointed in 2024 with a .222/.255/.363 slash. • Shaky to start second half
Nola didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Pirates, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: After the Phillies jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Pittsburgh responded with three straight hits off Nola in the bottom of the frame before tying the game 3-3. The 31-year-old right-hander had delivered five straight quality starts prior to the All-Star break, working to a 3.13 ERA in that span (31.2 innings). Overall, Nola is 11-4 with a 3.54 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 120:28 K:BB across 124.2 innings this season. He currently lines up for a road matchup with the Twins in his next outing. • Aaron Nola uneven against Pirates
Aaron Nola allowed six hits and four earned runs across five innings on Friday against the Pirates. He struck out four and walked one in a no-decision.

Advice: Nola clearly came back rusty from the All-Star break as each of the first three batters he faced smacked the ball at least 104 MPH. They put up three runs in the blink of an eye and Nola had to work very hard to keep this game in check from that point forward. His knuckle-curve missed bats as usual, but his overall command was poor and it led to a poor outing overall. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:02 pm
    • Justin Verlander to throw bullpen on Saturday
Justin Verlander (neck) is scheduled to throw another bullpen session on Saturday.

Advice: Once again the 41-year-old right-hander is expected to throw around 20-25 pitches in the session. If all goes well there, he could be cleared to face live hitters. Verlander has been shelved since mid-June due to soreness in his neck, but it sounds like he’s finally taking steps toward a return to the Astros’ rotation. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:15 pm
    • Takes batting practice
Jones (back) participated in batting practice ahead of Friday's game against the Giants, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.

Advice: Jones remains without a return timeline after landing on the injured list Saturday due to a lower-back strain, though his return to BP is a sign that he's trending in the right direction. While the 26-year-old remains on the shelf, Sam Hilliard and Sean Bouchard will continue to split reps in left field. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:58 pm
