      Advice: It was a tough night for the right-hander, who served up multiple long balls for the first time since May 3 and got tagged for three for the first time in his career. Despite his struggles keeping the ball in the park, Blanco nearly escaped with his fourth straight quality start thanks to an Alex Bregman error, but he fell one out short and got the hook after 98 pitches (65 strikes).     • Brenton Doyle collects seventh homer, 19th steal
      Brenton Doyle went 2-for-4 with a homer and a steal versus the White Sox on Friday.

      Advice: Doyle came into the night batting .235/.258/.284 in June and was one more bad game away seeing his OPS drop below .700, so this helps a bunch. He still shouldn’t be batting at the top of the Rockies order right now, but for as long it continues, he’ll be worth playing in mixed leagues, especially when the Rockies are at home.       Doyle went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a steal in Friday's 5-3 loss to the White Sox.

      Advice: The 26-year-old gave Colorado a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning when a launched a 426-foot, two-run homer off Drew Thorpe. Doyle later bagged his team-leading 19th stolen base, marking his fifth straight success since last being caught June 5. The Rockies' leadoff hitter hopes this performance spurs a hot streak, as he entered hitting .235 (19-for-81) with just two extra-base hits -- one homer and one double -- across 22 games in June.       Advice: Scherzer surrendered a solo home run to Colton Cowser in the fourth inning and an RBI single to Gunnar Henderson in the fifth. He retired the first batter of the sixth frame but was pulled at 77 pitches, as he is still building up his pitch count. The 39-year-old passed Greg Maddux for 11th on the all-time strikeout list and now has 3,375 career punchouts.       Advice: Blanco pitched fine Friday. His three unearned runs came as a result of an Alex Bregman two-out error that allowed Jeff McNeil to sneak a ball just over the right field fence in the next at-bat. That was the Mets’ third home run of the game as Tyrone Taylor and Pete Alonso also left the yard.     • Max Scherzer wills his way to an effective start
      Max Scherzer allowed two earned runs in 5 1/3 innings on Friday against the Orioles. He struck out four and walked two in a loss.

      Advice: This version of Scherzer could be effective if he wasn’t pitching against the best lineup in baseball. He stayed around the zone, made hitters feel uncomfortable, mixed all five of his pitches, and got his fastball up to 95 MPH.       Marsh went 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and a stolen base in a 2-0 win over the Marlins on Friday.

      Advice: Marsh doubled in the second inning and walked and stole second in the fourth. He later walked again in the eighth and has reached base seven times in his past two starts with a home run and a steal. With recent injuries to Bryce Harper (hamstring) and Kyle Schwarber (groin), the lefty was in the cleanup spot Friday night and will likely continue to hit in the middle of the order against right-handed pitching while they remain on the injured-list.       Brandon Marsh doubled, drew a pair of walks and stole a base as the Phillies triumphed over the Marlins on Friday evening in Philadelphia.

      Advice: Marsh led off the second inning with a double and advanced to third on a fly ball but was left stranded there. He then drew a one-out walk off of Kyle Tyler in the fourth inning and swiped second base to get himself into scoring position, but the Phillies were unable to cash him in.       Jung (wrist) will have his swing test pushed back to Saturday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

      Advice: Jung was slated to swing a bat Friday, but he'll have that evaluation pushed back a day. He has been on the injured list since April 2 with a fractured right wrist, and his rehab program with Triple-A Round Rock was shut down due to tendon inflammation. Jung could be activated off the injured list soon if his wrist checks out OK on Saturday, though he'll likely be eased back into the action with planned off days once he does return.
