    • Runs up pitch count in no-decision
Peralta allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six batters over five innings in a no-decision against Texas on Monday.

Advice: Peralta pitched pretty well in the outing, but he could go only five frames as a result of throwing 104 pitches. That's been a theme for the right-hander of late, as he's completed six innings in only one of his past six starts despite allowing three or fewer earned runs in five of those outings. Peralta's 4.03 ERA and 1.17 WHIP on the campaign are on pace for his worst marks since 2019, though he's been able to rack up 112 strikeouts (fifth-most in the majors) over 87 innings. • Freddy Peralta strikes out six against Rangers
Freddy Peralta allowed two runs over five innings and struck out six versus the Rangers on Monday.

Advice: Peralta got 15 whiffs tonight, but he ran up a pitch count of 104 in five innings, preventing him from working any deeper into the game. He’s finished six innings just once in his last six starts, which is a real problem given that he’s supposed to be the ace of a rotation that’s quite shorthanded at the moment. • Goes deep in loss
Cruz went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Monday's loss to the Reds.

Advice: Cruz drove in one run in the fifth inning before capping off his night with a two-run blast in the seventh. It was his 11th home run of the year, with four of those coming this month. He was stuck in a 2-for-19 skid (.105) over his previous six games since his last multi-hit performance June 16. Cruz now owns a .243/.296/.433 slash line with 34 RBI and 27 extra-base hits through 284 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:53 pm

    • Oneil Cruz homers, drives in three in losing effort
Oneil Cruz went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBI on Monday in the Pirates’ lopsided defeat at the hands of the Reds.

Advice: Cruz was one of the few bright spots for Pittsburgh in this one as he drove in a run with a fifth-inning ground out before slugging a gargantuan 458-foot moonshot — his 11th big fly of the season — a couple frames later off Reds reliever Fernando Cruz. The 25-year-old shortstop has been scuffling at the dish in recent weeks, batting .216 (25-for-116) with four homers and three steals over his last 30 games. He’s also struck out a whopping 40 times during that span. The flashes of dynamic game-changing talent are still there on occasion, but Cruz remains a bit of a work in progress at the moment. • Heston Kjerstad starting over Cowser on Monday
Colton Cowser is on the bench on Monday against the Guardians.

Advice: After the Orioles called up Heston Kjerstad on Monday, they will now insert him into the starting lineup and move Cowser to the bench. In 46 games since May 1st, Cowser is hitting .182/.285/.299 with a 29 percent strikeout rate, so the Orioles may be willing to move him to the bench full-time to see if Kjerstad can provide them more offense. • Sitting in favor of Kjerstad
Cowser is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Guardians.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Cowser will take a seat against a right-handed starter (Tanner Bibee) for the third time in five games. Though the Orioles haven't publicly said that Cowser -- who is batting .175 in June -- will see fewer opportunities moving forward, the promotion of Heston Kjerstad from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday wouldn't seem to be a positive development for Cowser's outlook. Kjerstad will enter the Baltimore lineup right away Monday, covering Cowser's typical spot in left field while batting fifth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:54 am

    • Pops 12th homer
Altuve went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored Sunday against the Orioles.

Advice: Altuve led off the bottom of the first inning with his 12th home run of the season and third in his last 13 starts. He's been hot in that stretch, maintaining a .352 average with 11 RBI and 10 runs scored while also chipping in a stolen base. Altuve has already locked in his third consecutive season with double-digit homers and steals and is hitting .299 across 342 plate appearances on the campaign. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:31 am

    • Swats seventh homer
Kelenic went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Yankees.

Advice: He took Nestor Cortes deep for a solo shot in the third inning before adding a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Kelenic extended his hitting streak to 10 games with the blast, and over that stretch he's slashing .317/.356/.585 with three of his seven homers on the season. • Swipes sixth bag
Cruz went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base Sunday against the Rays.

Advice: Cruz made plenty of highlights Saturday by blasting a home run into the Allegheny River, but he's slumped with only two hits across 19 at-bats during Pittsburgh's current homestand. He did manage to tally his sixth stolen base of the season Sunday, his first since returning from ankle soreness that caused him to miss games on June 14th and 15th. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:38 am
