Advice: Neto provided what turned out to be the winning margin with his two-run shot in the fourth inning. The long ball was his 10th of the season through 260 plate appearances, one more than he hit across 329 plate appearances as a rookie last year. Zach Neto homers to propel Angels past BrewersZach Neto hit a two-run homer Monday to lead the Angels to a 5-3 win over the Brewers.
Advice: Angels manager Ron Washington has utterly refused to hit Neto in the top half of the order, but the 23-year-old has been one of the team’s best players in batting .249/.297/.440 with 10 homers in 260 plate appearances. He’s not yet a finished product and it’s possible he’ll struggle to reach his true potential while playing for one of MLB’s most dysfunctional franchises, but the sky really is the limit here. Solid effort ends in no-decisionGray allowed two runs on five hits and two walks over 7.2 innings in Monday's 7-6 win versus the Marlins. He struck out four and didn't factor in the decision.
Advice: Gray pitched into the eighth inning for the first time this season and left the game up 4-1, but the bullpen couldn't hold the lead. The four strikeouts were a season low for Gray as he worked fast and efficiently, only needing 84 pitches to record 23 outs. The veteran's ERA now sits at 2.95 with a 1.02 WHIP through 13 starts. Collects three hitsAlvarez went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI in Monday's win against Texas.
Advice: Alvarez singled and scored in the fifth inning before delivering RBI base hits in the sixth and eighth frames. He entered Monday's game in a 2-for-14 (.143) slump since returning from the injured list. Alvarez produced his first multi-hit game since April 11. Sonny Gray goes 7 2/3 in no-decision vs. MarlinsSonny Gray allowed two runs over 7 2/3 innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Marlins.
Advice: Gray was long gone before this one was decided in a 12-inning marathon, but he managed to complete seven frames for the second consecutive start. He struck out four and only issued two walks. The 34-year-old righty has been excellent this season in his St. Louis debut, allowing three earned runs or fewer in 10 of his 13 starts so far. Slugs three-run homer in winBohm went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run in Monday's win over the Padres.
Advice: Bohm has been on a tear as of late, picking up his fourth consecutive game with multiple hits. He also has an RBI in five straight contests, which is the longest such streak of his career. The 27-year-old is up to 60 RBI this season, good for fourth in the majors. Bohm is in the midst of a breakout campaign with a .307/.359/.489 slash line and seven home runs through 70 games. Alec Bohm posts three hits, homers in victoryAlec Bohm went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer on Monday in the Phillies’ lopsided win over the Padres.
Advice: Bohm gave Philadelphia a commanding six-run advantage with a fifth-inning blast off Padres starter Randy Vásquez. It was his seventh long ball of the year and just the second time he’s gone deep since the start of the month. The 27-year-old corner infielder is in the midst of the best season of his career so far with an .848 OPS through 70 games. Rotoworld -
Strikes out nine in winCrawford (3-6) allowed three runs on three hits and a walk while striking out nine over six innings to earn the win Sunday over the Yankees.
Advice: Crawford had given up at least four runs in five of his last six starts, but he was able to turn in a strong performance Sunday. He allowed solo home runs to Aaron Judge and Jose Trevino, but Crawford's nine strikeouts were a season high, and he snapped a four-start losing streak. The right-hander is at a 3.54 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 88:26 K:BB through 86.1 innings over 15 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road in Cincinnati. Blanks RoyalsGlasnow (7-5) picked up the win Sunday against Kansas City, allowing three hits and one walk with nine strikeouts across seven scoreless innings.
Advice: Glasnow was exceptional Sunday, striking out at least nine batters for a third straight start and completing his first scoreless start since April 21. He didn't allow an extra-base hit in the outing and got into the win column for the first time in seven starts. Glasnow leads MLB with 125 strikeouts across 93 innings, and his ERA dropped from 3.24 to 3.00 after Sunday's start. The 30-year-old is tentatively scheduled to face the Angels his next time out.
