      Diaz (1-2) allowed two runs on a hit, a hit batsman and two walks without striking out a batter in one-third of an inning to take the loss and a blown save Monday versus the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: Diaz loaded the bases with back-to-back one-out walks, and Kevin Newman delivered the walk-off two-run single. This was Diaz's first blown save since his season debut, but he's hardly been dominant lately, allowing seven runs with a 5:6 K:BB over his last 3.2 innings.     • Homer, three walks in win
      Moreno went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, three walks and two total runs scored in Monday's 6-5 win over the Reds.

      Advice: The homer was Moreno's first of the year, and this was the second game of the season in which he had multiple walks. He's gotten off to a slow start with the bat, hitting .248 through 33 contests, but he's made up for it with a 12.8 percent walk rate, easily the best of his career.     • Alexis Díaz blows save, gets loss vs. Diamondbacks
      Alexis Díaz blew a save while picking up a loss Monday by allowing two runs and getting just one out Monday against the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: The Díaz experience in 2024 has been interesting, to say the least, and probably is too kind of a description. The right-hander threw 9-of-21 pitches for strikes while issuing a pair of walks, and he gave up a two-run single to blow his second save and pick up his second loss.     • Gabriel Moreno homers, walks three times in win
      Gabriel Moreno hit a solo homer and drew three walks in a victory over the Reds on Monday.

      Advice: Moreno took Graham Ashcraft deep for his first homer of the 2024 campaign. The four-reach game helps improve his slash to .248/.350/.356. The on-base percentage is nice. Everything else leaves a lot to be desired — even as a catcher. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:04 pm
       
    • Struggles in blown save
      Diaz blew the save Monday against Philadelphia, allowing two runs on two hits, two walks and a hit batter. He had one strikeout over one inning.

      Advice: Diaz looked extremely unsettled Monday night, issuing his first free passes since April 20, ending a streak of eight walk-free innings. Even more indicative of his unsteady control, the Mets closer allowed the tying run to score by beaning Alec Bohm with the bases loaded. Despite the ugly outing Monday, Diaz is cemented as the Mets closer with his ERA standing at 3.24 over 16.2 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:11 pm
       
    • Edwin Díaz melts down Monday in ugly blown save
      Edwin Díaz was charged with two runs in the ninth inning on Monday against the Phillies in a blown save.

      Advice: Not great. Díaz was called upon to guard a two-run lead in the final frame and was unable to slam the door. He served up a solo shot to Bryson Stott to kick things off before drilling Alec Bohm with the bases loaded to push across the game-tying run with two outs in the frame. It was his second blown save in seven chances this season. There’s zero chance of Díaz losing his grip on the closing role in New York, but it’s worth noting that this outing was a real mess.     • Corbin Burnes hurls six frames in no-decision
      Corbin Burnes allowed one run over six innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Burnes notched only two strikeouts and also issued a pair of walks. He generated only seven swinging strikes and finished with a pedestrian 29 percent CSW. It was his lowest single-start strikeout total of his Orioles debut, but he extended his streak of allowing three earned runs or fewer to an impressive nine consecutive outings. He’ll bring a sparkling 2.68 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 49/14 K/BB ratio across 53 2/3 innings (nine starts) into a home matchup on Sunday against the Mariners. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:07 pm
       
    • Continues to receive little support
      Burnes did not factor into the decision Monday against the Blue Jays, allowing one run on six hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out two.

      Advice: Burnes did not allow an extra-base hit as a walk and two singles in the sixth led to the lone run he allowed. The two strikeouts are the fewest Burnes has recorded in a start during his career and represent the eighth consecutive start in which he's recorded six or fewer K's after opening the season with an 11-strikeout effort. While he's not been as dominant in Baltimore as he was in Milwaukee, Burnes has still been plenty effective, allowing three or fewer runs in every start this season.       Ohtani (back) is serving as the designated hitter and batting second in Monday's game against the Giants.

      Advice: Ohtani sat out Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Padres after leaving Saturday's game due to back tightness. The day off seems to have done the trick, and Ohtani is back in action for Monday's series opener. Ohtani has gone 12-for-28 with eight runs, four stolen bases, four home runs and eight RBI in May.
