    • Nightengale: Rival execs say Alonso is staying put
      According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, rival team execs believe it’s more likely that Pete Alonso is not traded at the deadline.

      Advice: Nightengale mentioned that “rival teams who have expressed interest” in Alonso are “convinced” he will “definitely stay put as long as the Mets are within five games of the wild-card race.” As of now, the Mets are just two games back and are 12-4 over their last 16 games. If the Mets do keep Alonso beyond the trade deadline, they will need to then decide how badly they want to extend him, but it would take one of the biggest power bats off the trade block this season.       Salvador Perez went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI against the Guardians on Sunday.

      Advice: Perez’ home run was his 14th of the season. He started the scoring with an RBI force out in the first inning and his two-run home run in the seventh inning put the Royals ahead 6-0.       Advice: Perez belted his 14th home run of the season Sunday, adding a third RBI on a fielder's choice. The 34-year-old had a rough June in which he batted just .194, but Perez remains one of the most reliable catchers in fantasy.       Alonso went 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and one stolen base in Saturday's 9-6 loss to the Astros.

      Advice: Alonso's steal was just his second of the year, as speed is rarely a factor in his play. He's got plenty of reason to feel optimistic with his performance lately -- the first baseman has gone 15-for-46 (.326) over his last 12 contests while adding 14 RBI in that span.       Advice: Vientos has flexed his power recently with five homers over his last nine games. In that span, he's batting .324 (12-for-37) with seven RBI and 10 runs scored. The third baseman is at a .297/.355/.578 slash line with 10 long balls, 23 RBI, 24 runs scored, no stolen bases and six doubles through 141 plate appearances this year.       Mark Vientos went 2-for-4 with a solo home run against the Astros on Saturday.

      Salvador Perez went 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and a walk Friday in the Royals’ 10-3 drubbing of the Guardians.
