• Could join Brewers next week
Junis (shoulder) will pitch another sim game in Arizona on Monday and could join the Brewers afterward, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Brewers embark on a seven-game West Coast trip Monday, playing three-games in Los Angeles and four in San Diego. Already in Arizona, Junis could rejoin the team during that stretch, though it's unclear if he'd immediately return to the rotation or would be eased in from the bullpen. The 31-year-old was moved to Arizona from Triple-A Nashville due to velocity concerns and most recently threw a four-inning simulated game Wednesday. Rotowire.com Today, 2:49 pm

  • Takes loss Friday
Wesneski (2-4) allowed a solo home run in an inning of relief work to take the loss Friday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Wesneski allowed the first run of the game in the eighth inning, a solo shot by Pedro Pages, then got saddled with the loss as the Cubs got blanked 3-0. Despite the hiccup, the 26-year-old has been solid this season as he's settled into a relief role for Chicago, posting a 2.84 ERA and 34 strikeouts across 38 innings. • Looks sharp Friday
Hendricks tossed 4.1 scoreless innings of relief in Friday's 3-0 loss to the Cardinals. He allowed two hits and struck out one.

Advice: Chicago starter Jordan Hicks departed after just 1.2 innings due to an oblique injury, which pushed Hendricks into action. The veteran responded well and had perhaps his best outing of the season, giving the Cubs some much-needed length out of the bullpen. While Hendricks still has an ugly 8.20 ERA overall, he's been better lately with 8.2 scoreless innings over his last three appearances. However, Hendricks still has limited fantasy appeal in his current long-relief role. Rotowire.com Today, 2:38 pm
  • Won't undergo surgery
Manager David Bell said Friday that Williamson will not undergo surgery on his left shoulder, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Surgery to remove a lesion from Williamson's left shoulder would have put an early ending to his season before it even started, but the lefty will instead decline the procedure in an effort to return to the Reds' rotation as soon as possible. The 26-year-old southpaw will receive injections in his shoulder and be shut down from throwing for the next three weeks. At that point, the Reds will re-evaluate him and determine his next steps. • Brandon Williamson decides against shoulder surgery
Reds’ manager David Bell told reporters on Friday that Brandon Williamson has opted against having season-ending surgery on his left shoulder.

Advice: Instead, the 26-year-old southpaw will get injections and will be shut down from throwing for the next three weeks before starting to build back up. It’s unclear if it will work out for him in the long run, but Williamson at least wants to try this route first before going under the knife. Rotoworld Today, 2:26 pm
  • Jordan Wicks (oblique) expected to land on IL
Cubs’ manager Craig Counsell admitted after Friday’s loss to the Cardinals that Jordan Wicks will likely land on the 15-day injured list with the oblique strain that he suffered on Friday.

Advice: Wicks was pulled from his outing against the Cardinals after just 1 2/3 innings after sustaining the injury. Kyle Hendricks did a nice job in relief of him on Friday and he seems like the most logical candidate to replace Wicks in the Cubs’ rotation. As always, he makes for an unappealing option for fantasy purposes. Rotoworld Today, 2:13 pm

  • IL stint likely
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said after Friday's 3-0 loss to the Cardinals that Wicks will get an MRI for his right oblique and that a stint on the injured list is "likely," Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Wicks was lifted from Friday's game after just 1.2 innings due to right oblique discomfort. He was previously on the injured list due to a left forearm strain that kept him out of action for nearly six weeks. Wicks made two appearances since being activated off the IL on June 7, including Friday's start. Kyle Hendricks came in to replace Wicks on Friday, and the former figures to enter the Cubs' rotation due to the latter's injury. Rotowire.com Today, 2:13 pm

  • One more rehab start needed
Freeland (elbow) allowed one run on three hits and a walk with four strikeouts during a start at Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday. He'll likely require one more rehab start at Albuquerque before joining the Rockies, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Advice: Freeland made his second rehab appearance Thursday, but it was his first at the Triple-A level. The lone run attributed to Freeland came on a solo homer. Still, the left-hander is expected to appear in one more rehab game before returning to the Rockies toward the end of June. Rotowire.com Today, 2:11 pm

  • Kyle Gibson goes seven in shutout of Cubs
Kyle Gibson blanked the Cubs for seven innings in the Cardinals’ 3-0 shutout Friday.

Advice: Gibson gave up a long fly to Cody Bellinger that probably would have been a homer on another day, but not this one. Apart from that, he was very effective in allowing two hits, walking one and striking out six. He almost missed out on a win anyway; Patrick Wisdom absolutely crushed a ball in the eighth that by all rights should have been a go-ahead, two-run homer. Instead, the wind crushed it right back, resulting in a 354-foot flyout. It’s the first time in 14 starts this season in which Gibson has gone without allowing a run. He’s 5-2 with a 3.44 ERA.
