• Works in relief Monday
Hernandez gave up two earned runs on two hits over an inning of relief in Monday's 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: After being called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City last Wednesday, Hernandez ended up starting in the Dodgers' series finale in San Francisco, covering six innings while giving up three earned runs in a losing effort. With an off day coming up Thursday, the Dodgers weren't in need of an additional starter this week, so Hernandez shifted to the bullpen. He'll likely work mostly in lower-leverage spots while he remains up with the Dodgers. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago
  • Gerrit Cole (elbow) not ruling out June return
Gerrit Cole (elbow) faced hitters on Tuesday in a 22-pitch live batting practice session.

Advice: Cole told reporters afterwards that he came out of facing hitters for the first time since landing on the injured list back in spring training without any issues. The 33-year-old fantasy ace added that he wouldn’t rule out a potential return at some point next month. He’ll presumably face hitters a couple more times before heading out for a handful of minor league rehab starts to build up his pitch count and stamina. Rotoworld 12 minutes ago

  • Plays light catch
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that Senga (shoulder/triceps) played light catch Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: Senga -- who is on the injured list with a right posterior shoulder capsule strain -- had to have a scheduled bullpen session Sunday scrapped due to right triceps tightness. The hope is that he'll be able to throw off a mound later this week, though, and it's a good sign that he was able to do any kind of throwing Tuesday. Senga's timetable for a return is open-ended. • Brewers recall Tobias Myers on Tuesday
Brewers recalled RHP Tobias Myers from Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Myers provides Milwaukee’s overworked bullpen with some emergency length and could wind up replacing Joe Ross (back) in the starting rotation after he landed on the injured list. The 25-year-old righty holds a lackluster 5.29 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 17/9 K/BB ratio across 17 innings (four starts) this season in his big-league debut. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago
  • Could return in June
Cole (elbow) faced live hitters Tuesday and will throw another live session this weekend, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Cole faced hitters for the first time since being shut down with elbow inflammation. He threw about 20 pitches in what's expected to be the first of two or three total live sessions. Cole will be eligible to return from the 60-day injured list before the end of May, but he'll require a multi-start rehab assignment and is still at least a few weeks away from making his season debut, likely at some point in June. • Joe Ross hits 15-day IL with lower back strain
Brewers placed RHP Joe Ross on the 15-day injured list with a lower back strain.

Advice: Ross departed Monday’s start against the Marlins with a lower back strain and winds up requiring a trip to the injured list. The hope is that he’ll only wind up missing a couple weeks. It’s Tobias Myers who has been brought up from Triple-A Nashville to take his spot on Milwaukee’s roster. The 31-year-old righty holds a respectable 4.50 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 35/16 K/BB ratio across 42 innings (nine starts) this season in his Brewers debut. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago

  • Padres activate Joe Musgrove for start vs. Reds
Padres activated RHP Joe Musgrove from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Musgrove returns from a two-week stint on the injured list due to triceps tendinitis to take the ball for Tuesday’s series opener against the Reds. The 31-year-old righty has compiled a lackluster 6.37 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 36/13 K/BB ratio across 41 innings (eight starts) prior to hitting the shelf. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

  • Padres option Randy Vásquez to Triple-A
Padres optioned RHP Randy Vásquez to Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: Vásquez heads back to the minor to make room for Joe Musgrove to return from the injured list on Tuesday against the Reds. The 25-year-old righty allowed three runs over six innings on Monday in a loss to the Braves. He’s posted a lackluster 5.82 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 13/4 K/BB ratio across 21 2/3 innings (five starts) this season in his San Diego debut. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago

  • Getting another start
Manager A.J. Hinch said Tuesday that Manning will start Friday's game against the Blue Jays, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: Manning was expected to be replaced by Kenta Maeda (illness) in the Tigers' rotation after Maeda threw three innings in a rehab start Sunday. However, Detroit will give Manning another turn in the rotation despite having allowed three or more runs in each of his last four starts. As Petzold notes, Hinch doesn't plan on using a six-man rotation, so it's unlikely that Manning will stick around long term. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago
