• Credited with win
Schreiber (2-0) pitched a perfect inning and was credited with the win Wednesday over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Schreiber was deemed the most effective reliever after Alec Marsh (elbow) exited the contest in the fifth inning and Angel Zerpa struggled in a 1.2-inning assignment. Schreiber has maintained scoreless outings in all but one of his appearances so far, pitching to a 0.75 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 8:3 K:BB across 12 innings. He's added two wins and seven holds while serving in a setup role. Schreiber doesn't have a clear path to saves with James McArthur emerging as the Royals' closer, but he's very clearly in the late-inning mix. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago
  • Takes loss Wednesday
Hjelle (0-1) took the loss versus the Mets on Wednesday, allowing three runs on two hits and a walk while striking out two over 2.2 innings.

Advice: Blake Snell (thigh) was placed on the injured list Wednesday, forcing the Giants to go with a bullpen game. Hjelle ended up with the most innings of the seven pitchers used, but he was unable to match his success from his season debut Sunday versus the Diamondbacks, when he pitched two innings of one-hit ball. The right-hander was on the shelf with an elbow injury to begin the season, and he'll likely serve as a long reliever for the majority of 2024. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago
  • Starting rehab assignment
Topa (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Topa has been out since late March with left patellar tendinitis but has been cleared to try things out in a game setting. The reliever presumably will need multiple rehab appearances before joining the Twins' bullpen. Rotowire.com 39 minutes ago

  • Royals place Alec Marsh (elbow) on 15-day IL
Royals placed Alec Marsh on the 15-day injured list with a right elbow contusion.

Advice: Marsh was hit by a line drive off Addison Barger on Wednesday which made him leave the game early. Originally the team called it a forearm injury, but tests revealed that the injury is on his elbow. The 25-year-old will be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks before he can return to action. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago

  • Summoned to majors
The Royals recalled Klein from Triple-A Omaha on Thursday.

Advice: Klein, 24, has allowed just one unearned run with a 12:6 K:BB over 11 innings this season with Omaha. The reliever will be making his major-league debut when/if he enters a game. Rotowire.com 48 minutes ago

  • Headed to injured list
The Royals placed Marsh on the 15-day injured Thursday with a right elbow contusion.

Advice: Marsh had to depart Wednesday's start against Toronto after being struck in the right elbow by a comebacker. X-rays came back negative and it had seemed as though the righty would be fine, but the Royals have ultimately decided to exercise some caution. Marsh would appear to have a shot to be back when his 15 days are up. It's not yet clear who will take his spot in the rotation. Rotowire.com 52 minutes ago

  • Summoned from Triple-A
The Blue Jays recalled Little from Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday.

Advice: He'll join the Toronto bullpen as a replacement for Bowden Francis (forearm), who was placed on the 15-day injured list. Little has compiled a 2.89 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 16:8 K:BB over 9.1 innings across his nine relief appearances for Buffalo. Rotowire.com 58 minutes ago
  • Shelved with forearm injury
The Blue Jays placed Francis on the 15-day injured list Thursday with right forearm extensor tendinitis.

Advice: Since making his last start April 7, Francis has made his subsequent three appearances as a piggyback reliever behind starter Yariel Rodriguez. Francis scooped up wins in 2.1- and two-inning outings April 13 and 19, but he didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Royals after tossing two scoreless frames once Rodriguez exited the contest. Though he didn't appear to be nursing any sort of injury during the relief outing, Francis was apparently diagnosed with the forearm issue when he was evaluated afterward. He won't be eligible to rejoin Toronto until May 10 after landing on the IL. Rotowire.com Today, 8:57 am
  • Blue Jays recall Brendon Little from Triple-A
Blue Jays recalled LHP Brendon Little from Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: The 27-year-old reliever will join the Blue Jays as an extra arm as Bowden Francis heads to the injured list. Little has posted a 2.89 ERA, 1.61 WHIP with a 16/8 K/BB ratio in 9 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season. Rotoworld Today, 8:53 am
