      Hunter Greene matched a season-high with nine strikeouts over 6 1/3 shutout innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Pirates.

      Advice: Greene locked horns with Pirates starter Mitch Keller in a throwback pitcher’s duel on Wednesday afternoon at PNC Park, limiting Pittsburgh’s lineup to just four baserunners (two hits and a pair of hit batters) into the seventh inning. The hard-throwing 24-year-old right-hander’s four-seam fastball velocity was up slightly in this one to 98.5 mph as he generated an impressive 17 swinging strikes, with 16 of those courtesy of his fastball/slider combo. It was a relief to see him avoid handing out any free passes in this one after issuing a season-high five walks in his previous outing.       Varsho went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's loss to the Red Sox.

      Advice: Getting the start in center field and hitting cleanup, Varsho pilfered his third bag in the last 10 games and his eighth of the season in nine attempts. The 27-year-old sports a lopsided .216/.296/.446 slash line on the season with 11 homers, 35 RBI and 40 runs in 69 contests, but his .742 OPS still provides a significant improvement on the Blue Jays' other option in center field, Kevin Kiermaier (.545 OPS).       Happ went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Giants.

      Advice: Happ now has four straight two-hit efforts, which has pushed his season batting average from .212 up to .234. During the hot stretch, the outfielder has also gone deep twice and driven in seven runs. While he hasn't hit for much power, the outfielder has been sharp at the plate and adds speed on the bases.       Advice: Doyle probably still shouldn’t be batting second for a quality major league team, but he’s made big gains this season, particularly in cutting his K:BB ratio from nearly 7:1 last year to slightly less than 3:1 this season.       Advice: Contreras had to sit out Monday's contest after he was hit in the head during a play at the plate Sunday. He now seems to be in good enough shape to play again, though it will be Gary Sanchez behind the dish catching for Tobias Myers. Contreras still holds a .305 batting average on the season, but he has struggled to find consistent success recently, slashing just .232/.246/.321 since the start of June.       Advice: The 26-year-old hasn't seen the field since Friday due to the calf issue and will be sidelined for at least another week after being diagnosed with a strain. According to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca, manager John Schneider expects Bichette to return from the injured list when first eligible June 25. Isiah Kiner-Falefa is starting at shortstop Tuesday and could operate as Toronto's primary option there for the immediate future, and Orelvis Martinez was called up and should also see infield action while Bichette is sidelined.
