      Berrios (8-6) picked up the win Tuesday against Houston, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks with one strikeout across five innings.

      Advice: Berrios kept the Astros off the scoreboard until the fifth inning, where he unwound and allowed three singles, a hit-by-pitch and a three-run home run. Still, Berrios was able to snare a second straight win as the Blue Jays had compiled seven runs prior to the fifth. The 30-year-old has been shaky as of late, owning a 5.97 ERA with 17 strikeouts and eight home runs allowed over his last five starts. He's scheduled to face the Mariners on Sunday.     • Jose Berrios falters late in win over Astros
      Jose Berrios allowed five runs on five hits in five innings in a win over the Astros on Tuesday.

      Advice: Berrios kept the Astros off the scoreboard for the first four innings, but the fifth inning was a bit of a disaster. The inning started with a hit by pitch and then a walk and then was followed by two singles and a home run to push five runs across the plate and end his day. The veteran has a 3.63 ERA on the year, but his underlying metrics suggest some regression is coming. Still, he should be able to survive a showdown against the Mariners this weekend.     • Eovaldi allows one hit in win over Padres
      Nathan Eovaldi allowed one hit over seven innings while striking out six to earn the win on Tuesday against the Padres.

      Advice: Eovaldi was aided by a two-homer night by Nathaniel Lowe, but the veteran righty didn’t need much help. Eovaldi allowed just one baserunner on the night, which came on a Bryce Johnson single in the top of the third inning. Eovaldi lowered his season ERA to 3.15 in this one and bounced back nicely after allowing five earned runs in his previous outing.     • Dazzles with 10 Ks
      Lugo (11-2) picked up the win Sunday against Cleveland, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out 10 over six scoreless innings.

      Advice: Lugo was dominant Sunday, throwing 66 of his 93 pitches for strikes en route to 10 strikeouts. The 34-year-old logged his fourth consecutive quality start and his 14th of the season, tied for first in MLB. Over his past four starts, the right-hander has registered a robust 1.46 ERA along with a 1.01 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB over 24.2 innings.       Waldron (5-7) took the loss Sunday against the Red Sox. He gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits, one walk and three strikeouts over 4.1 innings.

      Advice: Waldron was plagued by the long ball, as he allowed two homers in a start for the first time this season. He snapped a streak of nine straight starts in which he allowed two runs or fewer.       Seth Lugo threw six shutout innings and got the win in the Royals’ 6-2 victory over the Guardians on Sunday.



      Advice: Lugo gave up four hits, walked one and struck out 10. The win was his 11th of the season. It was another excellent start for Lugo, who lowered his ERA to 2.17 on the season with the effort. The 34-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rockies on the road next weekend.

    • Matt Waldron pulled in fifth in loss to Red Sox
      Matt Waldron yielded four runs — three earned — in 4 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Red Sox.

      Advice: Waldron didn’t seem to have his best knuckler today, and the Red Sox wound up with eight hard-hit balls against him, including a pair of homers.     • Resumes light throwing
      Padres manager Mike Shildt said Friday that Darvish (elbow) has resumed playing light catch, MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Darvish was expected to come off the 15-day injured list and make a start for the Padres on Tuesday against the Nationals, but a bout of right elbow inflammation put a halt to that plan. The right-hander underwent imaging that came back clean, and the fact that he's now doing light throwing suggests that the issue isn't serious.       Webb allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Friday.

      Advice: Webb had a rough fifth inning, but other than that, he was his usual steady self. With the Giants' rotation in shambles due to injuries, getting a longer start out of Webb is a positive for the team's situation. He's gone at least six innings in 10 straight appearances, posting a 2.86 ERA over 66 innings with a 61:14 K:BB in that span. That's just a bit better than his 3.12 ERA for the year, which comes with a 1.22 WHIP and 97:26 K:BB across 112.1 innings through 18 starts. Webb's next start is projected to be at Atlanta.
