      Ryan (4-5) was stuck with the loss Friday against the Pirates, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out eight.

      Advice: Ryan was excellent Friday, holding Pittsburgh to just two runs over seven innings. However, the Twins couldn't muster anything against Mitch Keller in an eventual 3-0 defeat. Despite the loss, it was a strong bounce-back effort from Ryan after he allowed five runs in five innings in a loss to Houston in his last outing. The right-hander now sports a 3.30 ERA with a 0.97 WHIP and 85:13 K:BB across 79 innings. Ryan's currently in line for a home matchup with the Rockies in his next start.       De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Friday's win over Cleveland.

      Advice: De La Cruz put the Marlins on the board with his solo shot in the third inning and later smacked another extra-base hit. He's gone deep 11 times this season, though just two of those have come in his last 17 contests.     • Bryan De La Cruz homers, doubles in Marlins’ win
      Bryan De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with a homer and a double Friday to lead the Marlins to a 3-2 win over the Guardians.

      Advice: De La Cruz’s hits all left his bat at over 102 mph. He’s batting .252/.306/.427 for the season, which is certainly good enough to keep him in the Marlins lineup but isn’t great for someone who has turned out to be a pretty bad left fielder (he’s currently DHing about two-thirds of the time).     • Nick Lodolo limits Cubs to one run in victory
      Nick Lodolo held the Cubs to one run in six innings and struck out seven in the Reds’ 3-2 victory Friday.

      Advice: A Dansby Swanson homer was the only damage. Lodolo picked up his sixth win in nine starts this year, matching his total in 26 starts between 2022 and ’23. He’ll take a 2.92 ERA into his next start versus the Reds. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:43 pm
       
    • Ryan allows two runs in loss Friday
      Joe Ryan allowed two runs in seven innings and took the loss against the Pirates on Friday night.



      Advice: Ryan gave up two hits, walked two and struck out eight. The runs against Ryan came on an Oneil Cruz solo home run and a sacrifice fly by Nick Gonzales. He pitched well but didn’t get any run support from the Twins lineup. Ryan had won three of his last five previous starts. His ERA is now 3.30 on the season. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rockies at home next week.

      Diaz (shoulder) said after his rehab appearance with High-A Brooklyn on Thursday that he will get one more rehab outing Sunday before being activated from the 15-day injured list on Wednesday or Thursday, SNY reports.

      Advice: Diaz allowed one hit and struck out two in a scoreless inning for Brooklyn in his first rehab appearance. The reliever was pleased with his performance, saying after the game that his fastball had "new life" and his slider felt "great."       Guerrero went 2-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Thursday's win over the Orioles.

      Advice: The first baseman opened the scoring by launching a cutter from Cade Povich over the right-field fence in the third inning.       Garver went 2-for-2 with a home run, two walks, two RBI and two runs scored in a win over the Athletics on Thursday.

      Advice: Garver was a one-man wrecking crew for Seattle, delivering an RBI single in the fourth inning before putting an exclamation point on the M's shutout victory with a ninth-inning solo blast. While Thursday's performance marked the veteran catcher's second two-hit effort and second multi-RBI performance in the last four games, Garver's first two months-plus in Seattle have been highly disappointing -- he's sitting on a .175 batting average and .612 OPS through his first 200 plate appearances, and his 30.5 percent strikeout rate is his highest since he whiffed at a 45.7 percent clip during the COVID-shortened 2020 season.       Advice: Woo threw a season-high 85 pitches Thursday, an encouraging sign for the 24-year-old after he missed all of April with elbow inflammation and exited his first start after his IL stint with forearm tightness. Even with a restricted pitch count, the right-hander has generated four consecutive quality starts and has fired 12 straight scoreless innings, giving him a 1.07 ERA and 24:2 K:BB through 33.2 innings.
