    • Shohei Ohtani fills up box score in win Saturday
      Shohei Ohtani homered, tripled, walked twice, was hit by a pitch, stole a base and scored a run as the Dodgers triumphed over the Brewers on Saturday evening in Los Angeles.

      Advice: Ohtani started the home half of the first inning by working a walk off of Freddy Peralta. He then rode home on Will Smith’s two-run blast. The 30-year-old superstar was hit by a pitch with two outs in the second inning and swiped second base, but the Dodgers were unable to cash him in. He then crushed a two-out triple off of Bryse Wilson in the sixth inning but was stranded there. Ohtani also crushed a 430-foot (109.9 mph EV) solo shot off of Bryan Hudson in the eighth inning that extended the Dodgers’ lead to 5-3.       Ryan (6-5) earned the win against the Astros on Saturday, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk with eight strikeouts over 5.2 innings.

      Advice: Ryan surrendered a run in the third inning and a two-run homer in the fourth while receiving plenty of early run support from his teammates. He generated 15 swinging strikes on 110 pitches and has completed at least five frames in each of his 18 starts this season.       CJ Abrams went 1-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and three runs scored against the Cardinals on Saturday.

    • Brent Rooker drives in four of Athletics’ 19 runs
      Brent Rooker went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI in a 19-8 rout of the Orioles on Saturday.

      Advice: The Athletics have now scored 19 runs twice in 2024, which is two times more than any other team in baseball. This is a weird sport. Rooker hit one of five homers for the A’s, and he got the party started early with a three-run shot off a completely ineffective Cade Povich. He also scored three runs because of course he did, everyone did. That’s not true but it sure felt that way.     • Kwan belts ninth home run in win Saturday
      Steven Kwan went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a solo home run against the Giants on Saturday.

      Advice: Kwan’s home run was his ninth of the season. He hit a single in the first inning against Kyle Harrison and came around to score on an RBI groundout by Josh Naylor.       Joe Ryan allowed three runs with eight strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Astros on Saturday.

      Advice: Ryan pitched two clean frames before a pair of doubles brought a run in to score for Houston in the third. Jon Singleton then hit a two-run homer in the fourth. Ryan worked into the sixth before leaving with the bases loaded and two outs. He struck out eight on the day. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 3.29 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and a 118/16 K/BB ratio across 109 1/3 innings into a start against the Giants in San Francisco on Friday. It's another positive step for the 29-year-old as he works his way back from a left oblique strain.
