    • Logan Gilbert solid in loss to Athletics
Logan Gilbert allowed two runs -- one earned -- with five strikeouts over seven innings in a loss against the Athletics on Wednesday.

Advice: Gilbert had retired the first seven batters he faced before Zack Gelof took him deep for a solo homer in the third inning. A wild pitch and a passed ball error would bring a second run in to score for the A’s in the fifth. Gilbert would toss two more scoreless frames, but was saddled with the loss as the Mariners failed to get a run in. The 27-year-old right-hander will take a 3.12 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and a 76/20 K/BB ratio across 83 2/3 innings into a start against the White Sox in Seattle on Monday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:00 pm
    • Homer, two steals in win
Candelario went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and two stolen bases in a 12-7 win over Colorado on Wednesday.

Advice: Candelario got the Reds on the board in the third inning with a two-run blast off Dakota Hudson, his eighth homer of the year and second in three days, before picking up his first two stolen bases of the season later in the contest. It was an impressive road trip for the 30-year-old Candelario, who's now gone 9-for-24 (.375) with three extra-base hits in his last five games. Overall, he's slashing .236/.304/.443 with 25 RBI and 22 runs scored through 224 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:44 pm

    • Carlos Rodón strikes out nine in win over Twins
Carlos Rodón was terrific in Wednesday’s victory over the Twins, piling up nine strikeouts over six innings of two-run baseball.

Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw scattered just three hits on the night and didn’t allow a base on balls. He kept the Twins’ offense at bat completely through the first five frames until Carlos Santana slugged a solo homer in the sixth inning. The Twins also scratched out a run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Carlos Correa later in the inning. Rodón generated 18 swings and misses on 100 pitches on the night — eight of those on his heater — while posting a strong CSW of 33 percent. Now 8-2 on the season, Rodón will attempt to keep the good times rolling as he carries a 3.08 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and a 71/20 K/BB ratio (73 innings) into Monday’s tilt against the Royals in Kansas City. • Nick Castellanos homers, Phillies sweep Brewers
Nick Castellanos swatted a two-run homer on Wednesday, lifting the Phillies to a 2-0 victory over the Brewers.

Advice: Castellanos connected for a 402-foot blast off Brewers southpaw Aaron Ashby in the fifth inning for his eighth big fly of the season. It wound up being the lone tally for either side in a rare low-scoring showdown at Citizens Bank Park and was more than enough run support for Aaron Nola and the Phillies’ bullpen in this one. The 32-year-old corner outfielder has homered twice in this last seven contests since May 29. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:53 pm
    • Provides only offense in win
Castellanos went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Brewers.

Advice: The veteran outfielder provided the game's only offense by taking Aaron Ashby deep in the fifth inning. Castellanos is beginning to climb out of his early season hole, batting .270 (17-for-63) over his last 16 games with four of his eight homers on the season, along with 11 runs and 11 RBI. • Jeimer Candelario homers, steals two bases in win
Jeimer Candelario blasted a two-run homer and also stole a pair of bases on Wednesday in the Reds’ comeback victory over the Rockies.

Advice: Candelario clobbered a two-run homer off Rockies starter Dakota Hudson in the third inning before recording his 700th career hit in the fifth inning of this one as he put together one of his strongest performances of the year on Wednesday afternoon at Coors Field. His multi-steal performance was the first of his career and he had just 15 career stolen bases across 799 contests in the majors since 2016. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:28 pm

    • Chas McCormick again out of Astros lineup
Even with Kyle Tucker absent, Chas McCormick is on the bench for a second straight game Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Advice: The Astros are going with a Yordan Alvarez-Mauricio Dubón-Trey Cabbage outfield and playing Jon Singleton at DH. McCormick, who was one of the AL’s better hitters in 2023, has struggled since day one this season, and the Astros’ recent usage of him certainly isn’t designed to help him find any rhythm. They might weigh sending him down to Triple-A for a few weeks. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:30 am
    • Absent from lineup again
McCormick is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Cardinals, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: McCormick is on the bench for the second game in a row and third time in five contests. Yordan Alvarez will occupy left field Wednesday and Jon Singleton will serve as the Astros' designated hitter while McCormick sits. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:19 am
    • Goes yard twice in loss
Witt went 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in Tuesday's 8-5 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: The 23-year-old superstar took Triston McKenzie deep in the third and fourth innings to help stake the Royals to an early 5-0 lead, but Seth Lugo and the bullpen couldn't make it hold up. Witt has hit safely in 16 of the last 17 games, a stretch in which he's slashing .378/.400/.716 with six homers, two steals, 15 runs and 23 RBI. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:23 am
