    • Carlos Rodon fans seven in victory over Red Sox
Carlos Rodon was terrific in Sunday night’s victory over the Red Sox, piling up seven strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings of two-run baseball.

Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw scattered five hits and a walk on the evening. All of the damage done against him came in the fourth inning as Rob Refsnyder and Connor Wong connected on back-to-back solo homers. Aside from that, Rodon was outstanding. He generated an eye-popping 25 swings and misses on the night — 11 on his fastball and nine on his changeup — while posting a strong CSW of 32 percent. Now 11-7 on the season, Rodon will carry a 4.34 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 129/36 K/BB ratio (120 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s start against the Blue Jays. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:11 pm
    • Dodgers among teams interested in Tommy Edman
Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that the Dodgers are among the teams interested in acquiring Tommy Edman from the Cardinals.

Advice: The versatile 29-year-old has yet to make his 2024 season debut due to a wide array of injuries, but that hasn’t stopped teams from inquiring on his availability. Where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire, so expect interest in Edman to heat up in the coming days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:13 pm

    • Bound for Triple-A
Suwinski is expected to be optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Advice: Suwinski returned to the big leagues June 4 after a short stint in Triple-A, but he'll now head back to Indianapolis after producing a .193 average with five home runs, 13 RBI, 13 runs scored and four stolen bases over 109 at-bats in 39 games following his promotion. The outfielder has struggled to limit the strikeouts this season, striking out in 28 percent of his plate appearances entering Sunday's 6-5 win over Arizona in 10 innings. Suwinski struck out in his two at-bats Sunday before being replaced by Michael Taylor. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:28 pm

    • Pirates option Jack Suwinski to Triple-A
Pirates optioned OF Jack Suwinski to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: The 25-year-old outfielder has plenty of power and speed, he just hasn’t been able to hit consistently enough to stick with the Pirates at the major league level. Suwinski was slashing a miserable .182/.264/.324 with nine homers, 26 RBI, nine swipes and a 79/27 K/BB ratio across 277 plate appearances. No word yet on a corresponding move for the Pirates. • Belts 13th homer
Contreras went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Contreras opened the scoring with his first-inning blast off Washington starter DJ Herz. This was Contreras' second game in a row with a homer, and he's gone deep three times over nine contests since the All-Star break. The steady catcher is up to 13 long balls, 29 RBI, 37 runs scored and three stolen bases while slashing .274/.394/.519 through 60 games this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:14 pm

    • Sitting vs. lefty
Gorman is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Gorman will avoid Nationals southpaw DJ Herz on Sunday. Brendan Donovan will start at second base and bat sixth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:26 am

Stott is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Guardians.

Advice: With left-hander Joey Cantillo taking the mound for Cleveland on Sunday, Stott will begin the contest in the dugout. Edmundo Sosa will start at second base and bat seventh. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:00 am

    • Lifts homer in loss
Contreras went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 14-3 loss to the Nationals.

Advice: Contreras got the Cardinals on the board in the sixth inning, but his homer only cut the deficit to 9-2. The catcher has gone 9-for-31 (.290) over eight games since the All-Star break. For the year, he's up to a .274/.396/.510 slash line with 12 homers, 28 RBI, 36 runs scored, three stolen bases and 13 doubles over 59 contests. Rotowire.com Saturday, 11:11 pm

    • Willson Contreras belts two-run homer in loss
Willson Contreras belted a two-run homer on Saturday night, accounting for most of the Cardinals’ offense in a lopsided loss to the Nationals.

Advice: The 32-year-old backstop finally got the Cardinals on the board in the home half of the sixth inning with his 405-foot (107.0-mph EV) two-run shot off of Jake Irvin, pulling them to within seven runs at 9-2. That would be as close as they would get. Contreras finished the evening 1-for-3 plus a walk and is now hitting .274/.396/.510 with 12 homers and 28 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Saturday, 9:31 pm
