    • Walker Buehler continues to work on mechanics
Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Wednesday that right-hander Walker Buehler is continuing to work on his mechanics at Cressey Sports Performance in Florida.

Advice: “I can say there’s progress.. but I really can’t speak intelligently what that progress is. I really can’t” Roberts admitted on Wednesday. There’s still no clear timetable for his potential return, but the fact that he’s fully recovered from his injury and has been throwing regular bullpen sessions bodes well for a quick ramp up if the Dodgers need him back. Hopefully he’s able to correct whatever was ailing him as he registered a 5.84 ERA and 1.51 WHIP over 37 innings though his first eight starts on the year. Rotoworld Today, 2:44 pm

    • Sitting versus southpaw
Abreu is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: With southpaw JP Sears toeing the rubber for Oakland, the left-handed-hitting Abreu will begin the contest on the bench. Tyler O'Neill and Rob Refsnyder will serve as Boston's corner outfielders while Abreu takes a seat. Rotowire.com Today, 11:37 am

    • Max Scherzer not looking to waive no-trade
Asked Wednesday on Foul Territory if he might be willing to waive his no-trade clause this summer. Max Scherzer said he’s “not gonna do that” and that he expects the Rangers to play better baseball.

Advice: This will definitely come up again if the Rangers don’t play better in the coming weeks, but while their playoffs odds don’t look great now (13%, according to Fangraphs), they do seem particularly well set up for the final two months with Jacob deGrom, Tyler Mahle, Josh Jung and Evan Carter all potentially returning. • Belts seventh homer
Abreu went 1-for-3 with a walk, a home run and four RBI in Tuesday's 12-9 win over the A's.

Advice: Every Boston starter recorded at least one hit and one run in the contest, but Abreu led the team in RBI thanks largely to a three-run shot off Tyler Ferguson in the second inning. It was the outfielder's seventh homer of the season but his first in 13 games since returning from an ankle injury in late June, a stretch in which Abreu is slashing just .195/.227/.341 with a 38.6-percent strikeout rate. • Secures ninth save
Diaz struck out the only batter he faced Tuesday to record his ninth save of the season in a 7-5 win over the Nationals.

Advice: The Mets took a 7-2 lead into the ninth inning, but Reed Garrett made a mess of things and forced manager Carlos Mendoza to turn to his closer with two outs and a runner on first base. Diaz actually allowed the inherited runner to score after Jacob Young took second on defensive indifference and then raced around the bases on a wild pitch, but the right-hander fanned CJ Abrams to end the game. Diaz has gone six straight appearances since returning from his suspension without having a run charged to his own ledger, collecting two wins and four saves during that stretch with a 6:1 K:BB. • Picks up 28th save
Clase got the save in Tuesday's 9-8 extra-inning win over the Tigers. He pitched one inning and allowed one unearned run on two hits.

Advice: Clase allowed the phantom runner to score in the bottom of the 10th but worked around trouble to get his 28th save. The 26-year-old was named an All-Star for the third straight season thanks to his minuscule 0.83 ERA through 44 appearances. Clase is as consistent as they come in a position that can have volatility -- he's led MLB in saves each of the last two seasons and trails only Ryan Helsley in 2024. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:16 pm
    • Homers twice Tuesday
O'Hoppe went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Rangers.

Advice: O'Hoppe is 15-for-42 (.357) with four homers and nine RBI over his last 12 contests, logging four multi-hit efforts in that span. The catcher twice erased a deficit for the Angels in Tuesday's contest, but they couldn't find the lead. O'Hoppe is up to a .282/.334/.491 slash line with 14 homers, 42 RBI, 41 runs scored and one stolen bases over 297 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:47 pm

    • Takes no-decision versus Angels
Scherzer allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and struck out six without walking a batter over 6.2 innings, taking a no-decision Tuesday versus the Angels.

Advice: Scherzer allowed a pair of solo home runs to Logan O'Hoppe in the contest. This was Scherzer's second quality start in a row, and he threw 95 pitches (70 strikes). It appears he's clear for a full workload after easing back into action following a lengthy absence due to offseason back surgery as well as thumb and forearm issues. The right-hander is now at a 3.09 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB through 23.1 innings across four starts. The Rangers are off Thursday, so it is likely Scherzer is done for the first half of the campaign, which should afford him some extra rest before Texas hosts the Orioles coming out of the All-Star break. • Max Scherzer goes 6 2/3 innings in no-decision
Max Scherzer yielded four runs — three earned — in 6 2/3 innings Tuesday in a no-decision versus the Angels.

Advice: Scherzer struck out six with a fine 32% CSW and walked none in his longest start of the year to date. Unfortunately, it needed to be one out longer for him to get the win, as the Rangers only went ahead for good in the top of the eighth. The Rangers are off Thursday, so unless something changes, Scherzer won’t pitch again until after the break. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:41 pm
