    • Chased early in loss
Crochet (6-8) yielded five runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk over three innings Sunday, striking out three and taking a loss against Seattle.

Advice: Crochet served up a two-run homer to Cal Raleigh in the first inning and never found his groove. Crochet was handed his second straight loss and has not earned a win since June 7. While he's reportedly still expected to receive a "normal workload," he's totaled just 13 innings through four starts this month. During that stretch, he's produced a 4.85 ERA while averaging just under 65 pitches per start. Crochet owns a 3.23 ERA with a terrific 160:26 K:BB through 114.1 innings this season. He's tentatively lined up to start in Minnesota next weekend, though the upcoming trade deadline could change those plans. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:35 pm

    • Padres have talked to Tigers about Jack Flaherty
Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports that the Padres have had discussions with the Tigers about right-hander Jack Flaherty.

Advice: Flaherty, 28, is in the midst of an amazing resurgence with the Tigers this season and looks increasingly likely to be dealt prior to the trade deadline as he’ll be a free agent at season’s end. With many teams interested, the Tigers should be able to demand a king’s ransom for their prized right-hander. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:36 pm

    • Brenton Doyle leaves game with finger contusion
Brenton Doyle was removed from Sunday’s game against the Giants in the third inning due to a finger contusion.

Advice: The 26-year-old outfielder wanted to express his frustration after striking out in the first inning on Sunday and angrily threw a towel against a training kit in the dugout. The training kit fought back though as Doyle hit his finger against it in the incident and suffered a contusion. He stayed in the game another inning but ultimately realized that he couldn’t grip a bat or a baseball which is why he was removed. It doesn’t sound like a long-term thing, so Doyle should be considered day-to-day for the time being. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:29 pm

    • Dealing with finger injury
Doyle exited Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Giants in the bottom of the third inning with an apparent right finger injury, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Advice: Doyle left the game early Sunday, which is now understood to have been the result of suffering a finger injury on his throwing hand, according to manager Bud Black. The outfielder's status is uncertain, and more information on the nature of the injury will likely emerge in the near future. Doyle can be considered day-to-day for the time being as the Rockies enter an off day Monday before starting a three-game series against the Angels on the road Tuesday. • Paul Sewald suffers blown save on Sunday
Paul Sewald was saddled with a blown save on Sunday afternoon, giving up one run on two hits in his lone inning of work.

Advice: The 34-year-old right-hander came on with a one-run lead to protect in the ninth inning. He was greeted by pinch-hitter Rowdy Tellez who smacked a leadoff double and was replaced by a pinch-runner. Sewald then battled back to strike out Josh Palacios and Ke’Bryan Hayes before allowing an RBI double to pinch-hitter Joey Bart. Sewald then punched out Jared Triolo to end the frame. He’s still locked in as the Diamondbacks’ closer, but with AJ Puk in the mix now, he’s going to need to stay sharp to keep a firm grip on the role. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:08 pm

    • Devin Williams protects four-run lead in debut
Devin Williams pitched a scoreless ninth with a four-run lead Sunday against the Marlins in his second debut.

Advice: Williams demonstrated excellent velocity today, as he also did in his rehab outings, but he was a little wild and was forced to throw 24 pitches. As a result, he’ll probably get Monday off. Most of Trevor Megill’s fantasy value is gone with Williams back, but he could wind up with a save tomorrow. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:59 pm
    • Set to be activated Monday
Stanton (hamstring) remains on track to be activated from the 10-day injured list Monday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Stanton has missed a month of action while recovering from a left hamstring strain, but he appears to be set to make his return to the major-league roster Monday in Philadelphia. The 34-year-old will skip a rehab assignment, and he'll attempt to pick up where he left off with the Yankees, having produced a 10-game hitting streak prior to going down with the injury. • Garrett Crochet pulled after three innings
Garrett Crochet surrendered six hits and five runs, three earned, in three innings against the Mariners on Sunday. He struck out three and walked one in a loss.

Advice: Crochet did not seem like himself in this one. The Mariners tacked on runs in each of the first two innings and an error by Paul DeJong put two more on the board in the third. He has not pitched past the fourth inning since June 30th and likely will not have the same workload he had early for the rest of the season unless he’s traded and signed to an extension, per his agent. • Cubs officially acquire Isaac Paredes from Rays
Cubs acquired INF Isaac Paredes from the Rays for INF/OF Christopher Morel, RHP Hunter Bigge and RHP Ty Johnson.

Advice: The 25-year-old slugger returns to the organization where he began his professional career and should add some immediate thump to the middle of a Cubs’ lineup that has been lacking power. Paredes — who is under team control through the 2027 season — has slashed a healthy .247/.355/.438 with 16 homers and 55 RBI on the season. He should function as the team’s everyday third baseman for the foreseeable future. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:21 pm
